so i took off ICS today (tired of not getting notifications) till they release a proper rom. and downgraded to the latest offering samsung has for us.
I927UCKL1 seems to have superuser cooked into it. has anyone else installed this and noticed that it is pre-rooted, or is it just remnants from installing something like the inception rom i used in the downgrade process?
Most likely something that wasn't removed.

I appologize if this has been already answered. I did search around and couldnt find any threads related to this.
Does anyone know if the Midnight ROM has corrected the data connectivity issues that are present in the stock froyo build from samsung/sprint.

I am using the ROM and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
Thanks.
I am currently running the stock froyo build from the Samsung site. Rooted and CW2 installed. Notice the problem when I am roaming using roam control. Data connectivity is intermittent. Hoping a custom rom is the way to go.
I am a little reluctant to go to the ext4 format. Will this prevent me from upgrading "official" froyo updates as they become availabe?

If you're running a custom rom then OTA updates will not come automatically.
Like when official froyo came out. After a few days the devs here had a tar file that included root and recovery. So using odin; i used that to get to the latest version provided by sprint (plus the extras I needed to run custom roms)
Then flashed my fav eb13 rom (eb13 being the version of official froyo from sprint for epic)
smooth sailing; as long as you read and familiarize before you just jump in. You'll know what to -not- do and what to do if something funky happens.
Good lock and happy romming!!
i am running midnight rom 4.1 and have no issues. if you are having issues i would suggest redoing it, not uncommon to have issues every now and then.
Folks
I live in Taiwan and have an unlocked AT&T Captivate Glide (SGH-I927) running Gingerbread 2.3.6 (kernel: 2.6.36.3, baseband version I926UCKL1)
Read on Internet that if I only installed Kies, then I'll be able to upgrade to ICS.
But nooooo...it wont let me. Instead, it insists I have the latest firmware (PDA: KL1/PHONE:KL1/CSC:KL1 (ATT) and that as such it doesn't need to do a dam' thing.
Any ideas as to how come the upgrade doesn't work? Does it perhaps detect that I am not on the AT&T network? If yes, can I trick it to believe otherwise? Is the upgrade file/package available somewhere else? Am I misusing Kies?
Cheers and help is greatly appreciated

The upgrade to ICS was pulled by Samsung due to a few bugs in the release version, that's why you can't get it through Kies. If you are comfortable flashing ROMs and recoveries through Odin, read the development forum. You can find find the version that was released for a few days and patches for the major bugs. Otherwise just be patient and I'm sure an official ICS version will be released again.
As oldnoob said, Samsung pulled the update because of all the bugs left unfixed. Dev forum has the leak as well as the official release though in my opinion the leak is better, with the fixes added.

Got it, thanks, will wait then...Samsung's SQA needs mending, eh?
Hi everyone, can any of you advise on the most stable Rom for the glide, I'm on gb back to black, which is a good Rom but I have issue with the camera crashing and slow GPS who doesn't lol.
I had checked ice cream sandwich ROMs and although some report them to be stable there seems to be still some issues at hand, keyboard backlight aside which is easily fixable and route, some still seem to have issues with carrier, GPS and gallery.
Ice cream sandwich still seems to have problems with lag and high-definition games slowing down.
Is there a definitive ROM out there that is stable out there with minimal issues and if so which one.
Thanks in advance for any suggested Roms that are stable enough for daily use without any hardware issues.
If you ask me stay on gingerbread until dman releases ICS aosp because ICS has so many bugs just simple things that will get on your nerves

I find the latest osimood rom is very stable. I've tried a couple ics roms and always had an issue with this or that. the osimood rom is bloat free and there is a zip with all the stock apps if you need one or two.
also recommend the osimood rom based on 2.3.5. will wait for ICS rom based on CM9 or AOSP/AOKP with adracat kernel (wen it will be stable).
hope the development of that rom is in full swing and maybe a beta will pop out so we can test as well.
Thanks guys for the service typically I went to the thread to download but the link was down!!! posted a request for an uplink. i need the phone for business so if this ROM is stable then that's good enough for me, I'll skip ics if unstable as sat nav is not that compatible on ics according to the word.

Does the rooted ROM's lock my SIM-lock?
Hi all!
I just bought an unlocked (carrier free) Captivate Glide from eBay, and had it shipped to Sweden where I live.
I'm wondering about the prerooted roms described in the root-guide on this site... will any of them (AT&T or Rogers) lock my SIM-lock again?
The phone works fine with my Swedish SIM-card, but I need to be rooted to remap the keyboard so I can type Swedish letters on the hardware keyboard. Reson I ask is because I did not recieve an unlock code with the phone that arrived yesterday.
The phone came in an AT&T box so I guess it is a AT&T branded phone.
It is possible (and probably likely) that flashing a new rom will cause your device to re-lock. However, it's very easy to add root yourself without flashing a new rom. You just need to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, and from within CWM, flash the 3.2-RC3 superuser.zip from here.
Additionally, if you look around the forums there's a thread on how to bitflip files in your EFS folder to unlock your device that way - something you should look into if you want to flash the device up to 4.0.4 or one of the custom roms.
Thanx!
Thank you! I will look into that then. So it's possible to install CWM without having root through Odin..?
Hi certainly the osimood Rom has not re Iocked my phone none of the GB ROMs has done this to my phone. So it should new ok.

I tested many roms and none of them re-locked my phone (even official ICS from ATT). I bought unlocked glide on ebay too.
Thank you for this good piece of information.
Now I should be set to go.
Think I'll stay on stock for now and just install CWM via Odin and then Superuser via CWMR.
I'll wait for a better ICS rom with less issues i think. Shouldn't be that long i hope...
Thank you for your help!
hi...are there any OTHER ics roms for captivate glide then the official rooted one? i mean for the GB their were at least 3 variations, and one of them didn't include any AT&T crap on it. just plain vanilla clean install. (i suspect i maybe have some bluetooth connectivity problems, my build number is IMM76D, android version 4.0.4 kerenl 3.1.10

Check this thread for everything that is avaialable for Glide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621350
So as I was browsing around the interwebs, I decided to check Sammobile to see if there were any new firmwares.
Turns out T-Mo released a new rom this month (no idea when because I dont check daily) and I would assume its Jellybean.
Here is the Hotfile link they sent me to and I'm downloading it right now.
Its not jellybean, its 4.0.4

Crap, okay....
Mods, you can delete this thread
The improvements are: "Qualcomm fix, Security enhancements, Vlingo S Voice improvements."
I have a stock T989 with the LI1 firmware... it's ICS 4.0.4. The new LI4 version is... ?
I haven't updated because I don't trust that it will be stable yet. I'm getting 36 hours of battery life (with plenty of use!) out of LI1 right now. I don't want it to get all fubar'd again.
samsung galaxy s2 Tmobile
