Do you not have a Nandroid backup of your Stock ROM you can flash?
I did have it stored but it became corrupt. I fixed the phone but it would be nice to have backup of stock rom.
I think I seen a few links to what should be it but i wanted to double check Since there are cdma version on this phone

Which bootloader do you have? Search for superversion downgrade and flash it with cwm recovery aand select the appropriate option . Then flash the ruu of your area and carrier.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think its possible to downgrade. You can only reinstall the same version or upgrade.
EDIT: Also, you only need to flash the stock recovery and relock the bootloader. No need to flash stock boot.img

So stock recovery isn't part of the RUU?

Not as far as I know, if you haven't got stock recovery the ruu will fail
EDIT: I must of been having a blonde moment , stock recovery will be part of the ruu but the ruu checks you have a version of stock recovery before updating. If it doesn't find it, it will fail

thx everyone for da helpful reply so i has to wait for the new official fw from htc dat right?
Quick question
can I update using a ruu over a custom rom or do I need to flash my stock nandroid before using the ruu?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yes.. you can run the RUU on top of a custom rom, no need to nandroid restore your old stock backup. Most important is the stock recovery been flashed and bootloader re-locked before you run the RUU.
And I normally also flash a stock boot.img first. (some people say no need to do this, but it is no harm doing it).
Cheers for that

Hey, I have an HTC one x and I relocked the bootloader, but every time I try to install an update it takes me to the bootloader plz help me out, btw I don't have a custom rom

If you already relocked your bootloader and cannot upgrade, then try with installng last RUU, corresponded to you CID number and then try to upgrade.
Maybe during the time you had unlocked device you uninstalled some of the preinstall apps, and now this doesn't allow you to upgrade.
Regards.

Just checking you have gone back to stock recovery??
Umm no I haven't.. Trying to figure out how
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Find the correct file for your phone,
Use command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (recovery.img is replaced with the name of file you are using.)
Stock recovery back for ota.
Check out a few of the guides, will walk you through anything pretty much
Can someone guide me how to upgrade from 9.7 to 17.1?
CID- VODAP001
I see the JB flasher tool doesn't support VODA cids yet.
Thanks in advance

Is there an updated hboot for it? Because if JB hasn't been released, there isn't, and you can't.

orange did not release update for htc one x and on the internet its "quiet"
make nandroid backup
lock bootloader
update your bootloader(1.36) manually your firmware(bootloader) should be here
re-Unlock bootloader with the same unlock_code.bin you used to unlock in the first place
then install the rom and dont forget to flash the boot.img

I have my original Nandroid of Vodafone image when I unlocked bootloader: so it seems my easiest method without screwing anything up is using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714
I am not as brave on this HTC One X as my old Desire HD was alot easier.
Thanks Vcek!
Your welcome, Yes if you have a nandroid backup its the easiest method to return.
Don't have to worry about One X, as long as your bootloader is unlocked(warranty void), its almost impossible to brick the One X, as long as its S-ON ;D
BUT REMEMBER, you must install the stock recovery to install the JB OTA.
You come to my next question! Stock Recovery. How can I check this?
I guess running this command ? fastboot getvar version-main

Download the Ruu mentioned above (dont forget to thank EddyOS) and once youve downloaded it, relock your bootloader. Once youve done that all you have to do is plug your phone into your pc and run the Ruu and it will make your phone stock Vodafone 2.17. Wont matter if your custom recovery or rooted, only needs locked bootloader.
Dont bother setting your phone back up once your up and running again, just check for ota update on the phone, there should be a small update. Do the update and restart the phone. Recheck for ota update and JB should be there. Voila! If it was me id factory reset as it always seems to be less bug free to me with ota updates.
If you want to make it a bit easier there is an all in one flasher that can lock, unlock bootloader, root, flash recovery.
Word of warning though. A few have had it wipe there storage (me twice) and lost all photos and music and so on, so back up first.
OK so did the above with almost 100% battery and RUU came back with battery under 30%
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
use JB flash utility.
But I think that " front camera of 9.7 is clear and better than 17.1" ^_^ so I love ARHD.
Use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
That tool doesn't support carrier brand CID's would I be better to flash my original vodafone nandroid and try again?

Have you tried putting it in fastboot and running the ruu?

hi
after returning to stock using my Nandroid backup and then flashing a stock recovery i can then boot up and use my phone as normal
my problem occurs is i want to upgrade to JB so i then go through the commands to lock my bootloader and it is succesful and locks but after this it will only ever then boot into bootloader, so to get my phone back to working condition i have to then unlock my bootloader and it works perfectly again but i cant update due to a unlocked bootloader.
have tried reflashing kernel, reflashing recovery, restoring the nandroid again all with no success
anybody have any ideas or am i doing anything wrong
any help would be much appreciated
Something else is wrong ! If you are on stock rom, boot.img and recovery you are good to go. The bootloader can stay unlocked.......is it possible you have the wrong nandroid ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
will my phone update with it being unlocked. as doesnt the new jb update upgrade the bootloader?
my nandroid is a 2.17, recovery matches and the boot.img comes from the nandroid
Yes if everything is 100% stock then you can update with the bootloader unlocked. That is no problem it will work fine
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
thanks for the help
still would like some help as to why it will not lock seems very strange as my brother who has the same phone i went through the identical process and his was straight forward and locked mine just wont accept it
I can't give you the answer to that, but if the update fails its not due to the fact that the bootloader is unlocked !
Did u apply the update already ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
no the update isnt showing yet suprislingly cid 001
aslong as its not a problem updating with bootloader unlocked then ill be fine then
thanks
I hope so, orherwise you have a nandroid of a non stock rom (maybe deleted some system apps)
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Yeh it's 100% a stock nandroid as its the only one I have from originally rooting the phone. And like I say it boots up fine just doesn't boot up atall when the boot loaders locked if its unlocked its fine
Just wait for the update, and see if it installs fine !
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
If your on HTC__001 just download the jellybean RUU. Lock your bootloader then run the ruu and it will update you
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It's actually an 02 001 CID. And I can't find the RUU for the 2.17 software for O2
Ah you have to wait longer, the carrier needs to put their bloatware/crap in the update
