Hello,
Anybody has a copy of TDJ - darkside kernel for the CM9. I know he has discontinued development of it.
The title of the thread is:
KERNEL][DISCONTINUED][3.0.40][CM9/CM10/AOKP/AOKP-jb]:ARKSIDE.VENOM ALPHA 07::[#3]
The download link is no longer working
thanks

Word of advice, that kernel is now of date. CM has updated it to 9.2, which means the kernel has been updated to. Stock CM will work better for now.
ok thanks for the advice

NOTE: Sold my I9000, hence can't support this thread, not that it needed much support
I have compiled a list of kernels that work on CM7 base. I used to have these in my signature but looks like this might be worthy of a thread considering the questions people keep asking on what kernels are compatible with the latest cm7 nightly etc etc and I don't see a similar thread.
NOTE: These kernels only work on roms that base on CM7 Nightly 123 and later ( CM7 nightly 123 and higher, Insanity 40 and higher, MIUI 1.9.30 and higher). Make sure you are on these before you try these kernels. I will keep this thread updated but if you see a newer version of any of these kernels posted in IRC, kernel thread or wherever, post it here and i will update this original post.
Glitch:
[2.6.35 base]

Neo Platypus:
[2.6.37 base] (NOTE: needs a full wipe due to a different linux base)
NeoXXBeta7
and
[2.6.35 base]
Neo17r18
Main Thread Here. Links above tell you the features included.
FuguMod:
[2.6.39 base] (NOTE: needs a full wipe due to a different linux base)

Main Thread Here. Read about features, links to sources etc there.
After flashing this, if you are looking for stock CM7 kernel, try the attached Cm7_stock_kernel.zip. I pulled this from nightly 143. Worked fine for me. I flashed neo first, then flashed this and got stock kernel back.
If you screwed up something and lost recovery, try the attached KernelCMW2.tar file. Flash it using odin/heimdall, pull battery and put back, enter cwm and flash a CM7 based rom.
If any of the kernel developers have an issue with this thread contact me by PM.
Thanks to the following kernel developers/maintainers
TKGlitch/Sixstringsg ( current maintainer of glitch)
Zacharias Maladroit ( Neo Platypus)
Nikademus ( FuguMod)
CM7 team/pawitp ( current maintainer for stock CM7)
This pleases me ^^
would be great if you could provide some basic info about those kernels (features included) and/or link to their source. appreciated.

Press any link, there is info included.

There are only 3 different kernels and you didn't even provide any info or comparison beyond the linux upstream version.
What a completely pointless thread.

thats the goal of this thread. There are also links to learn what each kernel offers. No point providing info on battery life for each kernel etc as it would vary phone to phone.
Hello. I've been using Bigxie's IML74K ROM build 8 for a while now. It is a really nice ROM, and the Apex kernel posted by him is helping me get great battery life...
However, I am unable to download the newer build 9 from the goo-inside.me links that are in Post 1 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399238 here on XDA.
For some reason, it would seem goo-inside.me itself is unreachable, rather than Bigxie's links specifically being broken. So my request is for either Bigxie to kindly post mirror links (minus work for your older builds) or for anyone else to do so...
Thanks!
Hi here is the link http://goo-inside.me/roms/fabolous/maguro/full_maguro_IML74K-ota-eng.bigxie.9-2.zip
Many thanks for the link pterry30. That is the one that wasn't working earlier on, but seems to be up now. Am downloading it now. Thanks again.
your welcome
I am currently on Calkulin's E4GT.2.ROM.V1.6.
I want to run CM10 alpha2.3: Android 4.1.1.
I noticed on the download instructions that it says 'Assuming you are on a kernel that has a safe recovery.".
I just have a simple question, can I download and flash CM10 on top of my current Calkulin build, or should I download a 'safe' kernel and then flash CM10.
I'm trying to be very careful here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Calkulin stopped developing his ROM before kernel source was released and the emmc bug was patched up, so yes you need to use a safe kernel... el 26+CWM is the safest way to go to jellybean i believe.
As Pyrotoast said, using the EL26 would be the best route to go. If you are using the kernel that came with Calk's ROM, you are likely unsafe. Agat's kernel, which is compatible with Calk's ROM should also be a safe alternative.

Trying to get my hands on Darkside's v1 kernel compatible with Team Kangs Juggernaut 5.0 and the links are down under thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466283
Anyone have a copy of it?
Dont know if this link is legit, but I did find the file.
Found a copy of the kernel at runamux.net and in running a comparison the MD5 hash downloaded from the site did match the original MD5 TDJ posted in the founding thread.
I tried linking but due to the "new user" limitations the link was quashed and I can't attach it to the post because it exceeds the site file limit size. If you need the file you can PM me or search for yourself on runamux.net
I loved this kernel on the SlickMod rom. It is the fastest non- AOSP rom I have ever used and i think it's because of the kernel.. I still have the rom if you want it.

If you P.M TDJ he will probably send you a link to all his Kernels, he has done it for me in the past.
Hi guys, I'm new on this board and I just wanted a ask a few question about this rom. Currently I'm using the Xylon 2.3.3 and I'm loving it so far, running beautifully smooth. I just got a question about the gapps, I've installed the 2013-2-15 gapps with all the photosphere stuff, however there is a newer version gapp which is 20130301, should I update to that?
Also is the kernel that it came with any good? or should I change it to AK purity like a lot of user have said to make it run a lot better.
It's safe to update, just flash over the current gapps.
As far as the kernel goes, most users report great things from the AK kernel so it's worth a shot.
For future reference, please use the corresponding Pre-existing ROM thread to ask such questions. There is no need to initialize a completely new thread.

thanks I will in the future. btw I was just checking the kernel version. It seems like the rom has already built in with the ak kernel purity.030. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If that's what your about tab says then yeah.
