hey,
I installed power amp but when there is lock screen it shows first the original music player.
On the original music player there are no settings at all. and i tried the poweramp settings but for no help.
my last option that i can think of is to remove the original music player, or at least to freeze it.
is it plausible?
If it is, which file i should delete\freeze ?
And can it harm something else ??
Go to poweramp settings and make sure lock screen widget is enabled. Also make sure that the stock music player is playing.
You can only delete/freeze/disable the default music player if you're rooted.

yeah, the lock screen is enabled. but why do i need the stock music to play ?
and yes, my phone is rooted.
You should be able to remove the default music player with titanium backup. Not sure if it will affect anything else though.
You can make a backup of the app before removing just in case you need to restore it again

but which app\process is it ?
I have never had problems with uninstalling the stock music app with titanium backup.

Oops, meant not playing
Maybe the stock music player is switching on when you play, and you're getting the default lock screen widget instead of whatever you want.
If you're rooted, then titanium, su/terminal commands, and plenty of other apps will help delete stock music.
thanks guys.
My Q is what is the name of the app freeze\delete ?
Cuz i cant find it. i freeze couple of apps but it wont help.
maybe something lockscreen app ?
Not sure what rom you are using, but beware of deleting music.apk as on gingerbread roms deleting music.apk also deletes the video player, im not sure if there are separate apk's with regards to ICS or JB, so you may wish to look in to that prior to deleting music..
connect your phone to pc/mac go to command line/terminal and type:
adb shell rm /system/app/Music.apk
you must have adb installed. in ICS and JB it does not delete the video capability. Some ROMs come without GoogleMusic and video works just fine. However, as far as I remember there is an option to turn off the default player in lockscreen.
root your phone, and then use something like root explorer and find the apk file and remove it
otrfse UNIX
i do this with every rom i flash. never had an issue.

Yesterday there has been an accidental release of a new test market app and several other apps through it. You can find more info and a download link to those leaked apps here.
I tried to install the new music player, but no luck getting it to work. Currently running 2.3.3 JVK. When I ran the apk it asked if I want to replace the system music app, when I said yes it got installed. But still when I load the default music player its the same old one, no change. And there are no new shortcuts either. When I replaced the music player apk under /system/app and launch it I get a force close dialog for the new app. Let me know if any of you guys have any luck with it.
It runs fine on 2.2.1 but the streaming doesn't work nor does adding the Google acct.

only camera works on JVK here. The previous version of music works, this one doesn't, either crashs the app or the whole system.
note that the signatures used to sign this one are also different from the previous ones.
The previous version is also force closing. I backed up stock music player app with titanium backup and them uninstalled, I then installed the latest honeycomb music player which keeps force closing on me (am on stock jvk rom) tried uninstalling the latest music player and then revert back to stock, but titanium backup doesn't give me the option to restore even though it says I have 1 backup. I then resorted to the old honeycomb music player app which also force closes on me when I press play and now for some reason my titanium backup no longer shows the original stock app I backed up.
the above might seem a little confusing but an in a bit of a pickle and would like to restore the original stock music player. Currently using winamp and I hate not having the option to change track from the notification menu.
Anyone with any ideas please help.
Finally installed cm7 but I have a few questions...
Q1. Is the adw launcher the normal version or the ex version?
Q2. Can I uninstall adw if I have another launcher installed?
Q3. I don't see the system recovery(bootstrap) or 2ndinit apps in the app drawer and even titanium backup shows that they are not installed...so should I reinstall them or is it already built into cm7( since I am able to see the option of boot into recovery when I try to reboot)
Q4. Is it safe to replace the cm7 music player with the stock connected music player? ( I want to replace it as the cm7 music player does not show lyrics of the songs I'm playing...
Thanks in advance....other than the music player I'm loving cm7...I got an 80% increase in quadrant score

Q1 - It's not the EX version but I believe it's a tweaked normal version for CM.
Q2 - Yes I believe you can but make sure you have another launcher installed first.
Q3 - No do not reinstall 2nd init or custom recovery - you won't have an app icon for them as they are accessed via the bootmenu blue led.
Q4 - Sorry don't know as I don't use music apps.
1.what's the difference?
2.yes
3.No 2nd unit doesn't require the app in the menu to work since its installed into the system.
4.You can try, I don't see a reason why it wont make sure to set the permissions correctly after replacing.

I have both apps installed, reason I'm keeping stock CM music app is because in my opinion the sound quality is a bit better than in CMP. But I want lyrics sometimes so I've kept both apps. You can remove the default CM7 player or just make CMP the default app to open musiic.
The FM Radio also works well in CMP, it i s a pretty good music player, even POwerAMP isn't needed (or worth it) in comparison.
I froze the cm 7 music app as I didn't notice any difference in sound quality and everything is working fine

1 - Is the normal version
2 - Yes with titanium for example you could uninstall every apps
3 - Normal Bootstrap is replace by 2nd init ( bootable by down button ) more pratical : )

Hi everyone
Recently I flashed CM7 and everything works great exept for playing music. Whenever I play music the phone doesn't let me unlock the lockscreen. The lockscreen comes up, but it doesn't respond to my touching. I've used different music player but that doesn't help. The lockscreen gets frozen.
Im using CM7 with as music player PowerAMP (tweaking the audio didn't help either). I also use Launcher Pro.
Maybe the standard music player from CM7 works better, but I unistalled it..... does anyone know where to find the .apk for that music player?
Another problem is that the time and date always jump back to 01-01-1980 and 12:00. Anyone has a solution for this?
I hope you could help me
Bram

I think the problem is that you uninstall the stock music player.
You can find that apk file from the CM7 zip file which is the whole ROM you have flashed in recovery.
Open the zip and go to /system/app/Music.apk that's the apk
Somehow that apk file isn't in the system/app folder. But I'll look into the .zip file on my computer, maybe it's in there.
Thanks anyway

I installed ICS 4.0.4 .431 (LT18i_4.1.B.0.431_Generic World Greece) a few days ago on my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, It works smooth and nice, except a few small drawbacks, or is it?
First of, The led doesn't seem to be working other than when I turn on the phone or put it on charge.
It doesn't light up when I get sms/mms, facebook, gmail or any other notification. I have checked the settings in every one of these apps to see if I have missed anything, but no. everything is correct in settings. Am I missing something, or is the led not working on 4.0.4 ?
second - "music library empty" ??? WinAMP worked fine on 4.0.3. WinAMP does not work on 4.0.4. All I get is "music library empty". PowerAMP works great. But in PowerAMP I can choose music-directory. Also in "settings when I want to choose a ringtone (MP3) it also say "music library empty". Also this worked fine in 4.0.3. What am I missing ? What am I doing wrong? Both LED and WinAMP worked on 4.0.3 but not on 4.0.4
Anyone else experiencced this "problem" ?!?
Where does 4.0.4 expect to find the music-files? I have my music-files on the sd-card in a directory named "music".
The LED issue is a known problem in the ICS 4.0.4 update. There are talks about an update coming which would fix this problem.
And I can't really help you out with your music issue. I use the stock music app and I have no problems. Uh, try clearing cache and data for WinAmp.

I can't use stock music player due to the issue "music library empty". Not really sure what's causing it.
I thought about wiping cache and dalvik, but since I came from a fresh install, then I didn't bother with that.
Thank you for the info on the LED issue
Go to Settings -> Apps. Find the Music app under ALL. Then wipe data and cache.
Hope it works.

I wonder what it could be, It worked on 4.0.3 I haven't changed anything besides upgrading to 4.0.4

I have the exactly same problem tried everything but music is there and is not there also the same happens with old photos i cannot see them anymore on the gallery they are on sd but not on gallery
Check if you have a .nomedia file in your music folder.
It prevents android from looking for media files in that particular folder. This includes photos, music & videos.
Just delete it and all should be fine.
@daniel090588, the same thing applies to you.

I just found out that the same goes for me. I can't see pictures in my gallery either. I could see 4 pictures. Those four I have taken since I installed this 4.0.4 but none of the other pictures. I searched for them on my SD and they are ALL in the same directory SD/DCIM/100ANDRO but still only able to see the last four pictures taken. However I can see them ALL when I use "QuickPic" A great app to view all your pictures with.
I did a reset on my phone now. Just to see if that helped, and it did.
Now I can see music in stock music player. Also my stock photo gallery is working.
I guess the problem I had came from my titanium backup restore.
I wonder what it could have been ?
Thanks it works

Thanks! It worked for me (CM 7.2 - HTC Chacha). I deleted all the .nomedia files and .nomedia folders.
Also I had to delete them twice.
Go to settings, applications, all
Find the Media Storage app, and clear data.
This deletes everything! artists, albums, playlists. (data still on card)
Plug in, mount usb. Eject. Go back into music, and wait (a lot if you have more than a few tracks.)
Note: If the music app shows no changes, try force stopping the Media Storage app. The app showed no cache or data to clear, but force stopping it then opening the Music app worked for me.

1) Is it possible to change the sms signal to something other than the default ones?
2) Can I turn off the shutter sound?
3) Am I supposed to be able to turn the screen into landscape mode when looking at apps/widgets and the homescreens?
4) I have copied two .mkv-movie(4-7gb) files to the movies folder on the phone but when I watch them I get no sound, how come?
I have the standard, none edited, newly bought version of the note 2.
1) Mess with the sound settings. Default notification is what you're after.
2) Upskirt much?
3) No
4) DTS codec removed from almost all players because of license issues. Either find non-DTS mkvs or encode them.

1) I am talking about a .wav sound that I have saved from an old HTC that I want to use. Is that possible? I cant find any information about that on the net nor in the sound settings of the phone.
2) Maybe
3) Thanks, explains that.
4) Oh...I see...any easy way to do that by my own? Any programs that you or someone else can recommend?
Thanks!
1) create a folder named "notifications" on your internal memory, any audio file in that folder should show up in the list for app/messaging notifications.
if you don't want it to show up in the music app you can also place it in /system/media/audio/notifications, but that requires root access.
for ringtones and alarms you can place it in any folder, and set it through the music player.
2) this is illegal in some countries and can be abused for various criminal activities, so this will require modifications to system files.
3) not in the touchwiz launcher, but if you want to rotate the screen you can install a 3rd party launcher like apex, or nova, and enable rotation in their settings screen.
4) try MX player, if the encoding of a video or audio stream is not supported by your phone it can usually still play using software decoding.

I tried to play the videos in MX Player but still no luck. Still no sound.
I tried a 1080p music video and that worked great, but not the .mkv-files.
