Hi guys,
I'm sure there is a simple fix for this, but I've been searching all over the internet(s) and can't seem to fix the problem. I flashed Liquid JB a few days ago, and other than this sync issue, everything has been going well. From what I've gathered, this is an issue linked to restoring Google information through Titanium, instead of letting the phone sync on its own.
If this is simply "factory reset and begin anew," or flash a different ROM, that's okay with me; however, I'm just curious as to why I can't enable auto-sync on either my Google account or my FB account.
Am I on the right track? Any one have information on what's going on?
I think it's more likely a ROM issue. I've tried some ROMs where it works and some where it hasn't

Make sure you flashed the gaaps package. I've never used liquid but there have been a few times where I've been wtf I have no contact info and I had forgot to flash the gaaps. You can just flash them at your current state right now it won't harm anything.
As far as fb goes I use haxsync to link fb to my contacts so I'm not sure on that one.

Before doing a factory reset I would try wiping days from Google Services Framework and from the Play Store. Reboot, then sign back in to the Play Store...

Go into the Accounts & Sync menu under settings. do another "Add Account", there you should see a second Facebook account icon, click there and login to your facebook account.
If you've already done this, go back to the Account & Sync menu, and click the Facebook for HTC Sense and remove account, re-add it and reboot.
I always have that same issue when setting up a new ROM, and you just have ot play with the settings under Facebook for HTC Sense and sometimes even removing and re-adding helps.

Under the People app, click menu and view. make sure you have your Facebook checked.
You may want to avoid creating MULTIPLE threads for the same issue.
Check your other thread in the general section for an answer.
Sorry bout the other thread thing i want this issue resolved and i did check and facebook is checked
Stock Rom? Ask the Facebook App developer. Uninstall and reinstall. Wipe the phone and reinstall. I am using Stock Rom non-rooted and having no issue. Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
If you're still not having any luck, I'd have to agree with tgruendler, try a wipe and start over. As far as the Stock ROM, did you download and install it after rooting.
If that's the case, try one of the custom ROMS
Can u give me links and tell me how to do this??
I have the same problem as you.
I went back to rooted stock and i can't get it to find my friends. everythign else, including the friend stream syncs up fine.
I have wiped and reinstalled...same problem.
I'm having the same issue. I installed Fresh 1.0.1, and I wasn't able to re-sync, but when I reflashed my backup (which was working before), it still wouldn't connect.
Maybe Facebook is having issues today?
Hi guys, I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts back on my new rom.
Maybe I just dont know how to sync *from* google to my phone, I have always chosen the google option when creating new contacts but have never manually done a contact sync with google. I looked around on my google account but it says I have no contacts. I have a Nandroid backup but cant read the .img files to get to the contacts. I'm currently trying nandroid browser but it keeps trying to load without actually loading it. I have a titanium backup but after re-downloading it to the new rom it doesnt have an option for recover, only backup in my contacts storage. I did a nandroid backup before flashing my new rom, but the new rom has a different kernel which wont let me recover to my old rom without flashing a compatible kernel of my old rom. It was so long ago that I dont even remember what my old rom was, but it was a sense based rom. I've tried to find a 2.2 stock kernel to see if my old rom will load with that but every download link I try is broken or the file doesnt work.
This is driving me insane, everything I try is a brick wall. If you guys have some insight that would help out a LOT.
Contrary to my name, I do have an htc evo 4g.
Any ideas? Does anyone know of a program that will read the .img files on my mac? Can I go to the sprint store to get the contacts? I think I've done that before, but I'm pretty sure they were on my phone as well....
You synced your Gmail account in accounts and sync right?
Yeah, it has the check mark next to contacts. Interesting tho, when I went to my google account nothing showed up in my contacts section... I found my old rom but the updated rom manager wont let me install it. I think they're gone. I also found another app (app extractor) and that didnt get them back either. I guess anyone worth staying in contact with will eventually call me hahaha!!
Make sure you have the right account registered and recheck the contacts sync icon just to be sure.

I am currently having the same issue. I have a rooted evo 4g and I did a factory reset and loaded the 2.3.5 rom last night. I linked up my google account with my phone and i got a lot of contacts back, but not all of them. The one's I really need (mom, wife, etc.) weren't there. I logged onto my gmail account through the pc and it had the same contacts that synced up. It was weird because whenever i manually entered a new contact, i made sure I created it with the google account and I synced the account before I wiped the phone. I gave up, and like the OP said, if they really want to talk to me they'll contact me. I would still like to retrieve my contacts though.
ok guys...ran into this with my wife. When adding contacts make sure you add them as a Google contact. Should be a drop down in the contact page...otherwise they will only be stored as "phone"contacts
Hopefully they are saved with a Nan backup. If so expect them to your computer as a csv file and import to Gmail and next time be sure you are adding a new one as a Google contact

I have contacts that are showing up 2-3 times on my phone. I have NOT set it up to synch with Facebook. I have not loaded any to my SIM card.
When I go into contacts in Google, I see only one instance.
Any thoughts on how this is happening, and what I can do to prevent it and clean it up? I know I can go in and link them, but that's a bit of a PITA. If I have to, I can, but I want to resolve why it is happening before I do.
This was not happening while on ICS.
The only thing I could figure that might solve the problem is to go into your accounts, unsync Contacts on your Google account and any other accounts that may be syncing contact and see if any contacts still show in your contacts. If they do, delete the ones that are garbage, and resync with Google. Unsure if this will really solve it, but maybe? This will at least tell you if they're stored locally on your phone or if you have a pesky problem with something syncing more contacts than it should be.

Did this happen right after JB upgrade? Did you upgrade official JB release via Kies or flash a JB ROM?

I want to say Yes, right after...but not absolutely sure. I have the official release, but rooted, and installed with [HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter - [ATT / Bell / Telus / Rogers / Sasktel].
Hey guys,
I would like to start by apoligizing if there is a thread relating to this issue, but i have searched the forums and couldn't find a solution. The problems i am having is that Google just will not sync on my phone ATT Galaxy S3. I lost all contacts, google play, and google talk. nothing is working anymore.
Recently i tried to install "freedom" on the phone to get free in app purchases. then installed localepicker. now removed the locale picker and the freedom app and i am not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I dont know alot about all this rooting and flashing and stuff like that... i rooted the phone a very simple way from this website just to get game gaurdian on the phone to mess around with games.
So if anybody could helo with my problem thta would be excellent.
Thank you very Much.

When you go in settings and add account, do you get an error? Also, do you set it to manually sync or automatic?
Did it randomly stop or it was after flashing?

Can not establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues Call Customer Servic .
Thats is the message that I keep getting. And i noticed it this morning after I deleted all that freedom/locale pocket stuff. The Internet still works, it's just it refuses to sync the Google account.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

When you look at your signal, is it grey? When it is colored (blue most of the time), then it's connecting with Google, if grey, it's not.
I did a little google search (can go a long way ) and found a few solutions:
1- Just restart the phone without the SIM card, and connect to some WiFi network, so you can login to your Google Account. It will log you into the account, and then you can put the SIM card back.
2- Add YouTube app and login with gmail account
Go into Gmail App and add account if needed.
Sign into Gmail account wither username and password
Go through login process
3- Hard reset your phone. You will lose all information that is currently on your phone when you do this.
Select Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset
Once the phone reboots, input your google account information when the phone asks for it.

Tried step #1 and #2. None of these work. Just a quick question before Itry step #3 . Will it cause to brick my phone? The only reason I am asking is because the phone is rooted, by one of the methods on this site. That is my only worry, will anything happen if I do it that way or doni have to go threw Odin and that whole process again? Once again thanks for the help.

No you won't brick your phone. Although, make a backup first.

You can go in recovery and make a nandroid backup. That will make a flashable image of your phone which you can get back to if something goes wrong.

Wow. Ok I totally lost you there. I don't know how to make backups and flash stuff. Guess I'll just try to take off the pics and videos. And start from scratch again. I would love to have the latest JB update w/o all the bloatware that AT&T puts on it, but that a whole other project in itself. Lol Thank you for all your help.

Fantastic.... all your ideas did nothing...
Still experiencing the same problems. same error message. its like its blocking my phone from syncing. Maybe i deleted a file. I think the best bet would be to flash a whole new ROM or reboot the whole phone, and make it a fresh one.

Do a backup and go back to stock. See if it works there. If not, it's a problem with your carrier, maybe even your sim card.
Hi guys,
I accidentally deleted my 'calendar' files in an attempt to clean my phone to increase the speed. That has resulted in complete dysfunction of calendar functionality. When I use and/or reinstall google calendar app, it simply will not recognize my google account. In accounts, google sync is giving me a 'red' sync error. But other syncs seem to be working fine (contacts, mail, photos, etc.).
I'm guessing this can't be fixed now?
Should I consider putting on a new rom? My phone is already rooted. I've done this a few times before. Is there an appropriate rom? I absolutely need to use the t mobile's WIFI CALLING functionality. It comes in handy when i'm outside the country and have to call home over the internet.
Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks
Have you made nandriod/backup, if yes then restore from recovery. If no then you try factory reset/wipe data. If still problem not solved then flash the stock ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 as you need WiFi calling which I think will only be available with stock ROM.
I prefer nandriod every week and deleted the old one. It takes only 5 to 10 minutes
