Can't use my Beat Solos HD on my Xperia Play - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I connect the headphones It says "accessory not supported". Is there a way to fix this??
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2

Either try taping the headset buttons down ie: play fastforward rewind. See if it still comes up, if it does plug in the headset halfway, until you hear your music. I had the same issue with a pair of skull candy 50/50 headphones they only work doing ^ that.

You'll need an adapter to use 3rd party headphones on Sony Ericsson phones. Take a look at this post right here to explain it a little better.

Dre Beats and Ludacris Soul's don't work on this phone. I've tried 3 types of Beats and a pair of Souls. Even tried the adapter that came with this phone. Still nothing.

My Solo's (non-HD, I prefer the matte finish) came with a second cable without a remote, that works just fine.

Wired Headsets?

Has anyone had any issues with wired headsets? Which model is working the best? I know a friend that has gone through 2 of them already and said that he couldn't answer phone calls, and the mic didn't work.
Bose in-ear, inline-mic headset
Sounded amazing on my ipod and Dinc, and now on my Tbolt =D
Does Bluetooth need to be on in order for them to work?

No it does not use bluetooth, we are talking about wired headsets.
RF3 and airtube
As a side note, has anyone ever tried the RF3 Airtube headsets? I think Life Blue Tube and ENVi are the two brands. They are supposed to reduce radiation, but I can't really find a review anywhere, to see if they actually work as headsets.
I have a pair of Apple hands free cord headset that I use to use with my DInc with no problems, but they won't work with the TBolt...people on the other end can't hear me. Somebody please help or recommend a good pair that does work. Thanks

I have a pair of sennheiser ie8i and klipsch 10xi, which the mic worked fine on my evo. now neither mic wants to work on the my thunderbolt. Does anybody know what they changed? The little icon comes on that shows the microphone but they don't work.
I got the same issue with my Monster Turbine with Control Talk. No mic, but they worked great on my Dinc.
Need to find something too, but leaning towards the Bose.
I have used the nexus s headset with no problem.

HTC in their infinite wisdom disabled the microphones if anything is plugged into the headphone jack, this is the first time they have done this. I hope a developer can pull the right code from another HTC phone to get this to work.
This is a $10 solution, just picked mine up today and works perfectly: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex&#...218120537083&skuId=9535327&st=DYNEX&cp=1&lp=1

trying this... Hopefully work, love the sound of my monster turbines...
I had to use an old shure cable that has a built in mic and button to get it to work, strange thing is the connectors are exactly the same the only difference is my headphone have the extra volume button and the shure doesn't.
I just get cheap $10 earphones, cause im so ruff on them. I tend to tear them up alot or wash them in the washing machine sometime too
I just use a set of Ozone "noise cancelling" headphones with a Mic built in. I am not a fan of how it feels in my ear but the Mic works and is clear. Only thing is it seems flimsy and its 20 bucks at best buy.

Arc Earphones

Just wondering if the in ear headset that comes with the phone is any good?
It looked plain in the unboxing videos, so what's the sound like?
Could someone take a close up picture of theirs or link me to the exact headset?
Thanks
Compared to other out of the box headsets its one of the best ive had, decent bass, crisp. All the SE phones ive had have always come with a decent headset. I can only use the type that push into your ears so that was another plus.
Does it have a remote for changing songs and stuff or is it only a mic?
A link to the headset would be appreciated
No controls, thats the downside to it. Only a mic and call answer button. I use my liveview as the controls though
Yeah I wanted to get liveview since there's no control.
Is it worth it? Any downsides to liveview?
I'd only use it for changing songs, messages and incoming calls. What you reckon?

it allows you to 2 presses to skip track , 3 presses to go back etc.
long press to increase volume
Swap my mm70 earbuds with the arc stock with a bit of soldering. Check out youtube.

I've tried my beats with controltalk with this phone and the sound is all garbled up.
Anyone else experience that with other headsets?
The ones that come stock are ok. but I miss my ability to control songs (fast forward, rewind, volume up/down) that I had with my iPhone 4.

I've heard of a few people who complain of garbled sound with non SE headphones in Arc/Play.
I have been using beats dr dre tour on my Play with out an issue though. Seems very hit or miss on if they work or not.

That's really an awesome app. Works brilliant. I think you have to buy it, though. At least it started annoying me with some "your trial has expired" messages.
Stock earphones are quite good, though they look/feel really cheap. ^^
They look pretty much like SE MH710 on the pictures, but I'm not sure if they are the same.
The arc stupidly reverse the ground and mic wiring thats why other headsets dont work on it. Try to hold the mic button down you will get nice sound.

Wow! So THIS is why I haven't been able to use other headsets! That is very sneaky of SE.. I hope this is a software issue rather than intentional to force users to only buy SE headsets
My old Android phone also had this problem so I do not think it is a SE issue...
(Motorola Backflip)
It seems with the 2.3.3 update they don't even let you use these "incompatible" headsets, it just displays "Accessory not supported".
I used samsung and motorola headsets with no problem.

there HAS to be a fix for this! i cant stand the headset that comes with it, i hate those in ear noise cancelling things, make my ears feel weird! lol
but seriously, im having to use a normal pair of earphones with no control because of this issue, i have a liveview for controls but thats not always practical (dissconection issues/battery life/running the risk of smashing it to pieces when im skating!)
i have a set of iphone headphones i really wanted to use but because of this ****ty issue i cant. is there a way we could easily modify the headset and reverse the wiring in them ourselves?
We can use normal earphones ? If so, I'm not overly concerned.

Yes anything with a regular 2 channel 3.5mm Jack (headphones/speakers) work fine. I would have taken the phone back if this problem effected normal jacks too as I plug my phone into car stereos and portable speakers, but I'm still pissed off I can't use anything with an inline remote

Why don't you use stereo bluetooth hedset MW600. 3.5 mm jack on them is compatible with all wired headphones unlike 3.5 mm jack on arc and portable speakers.

[Q] Hook Up an External Mic to the Kindle Fire?

So I read on the Amazon Forums that you can use a iPod headset(with mic included) on the KFire like a microphone. So basically it's like a headphone and a microphone in one jack. Would this work?
Here is are some examples:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003KW12HU/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cd_asin_lnk
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=i...eadphones+with+microphone&sprefix=iphone+head

That could well be - the plug on those headsets have an extra conductor to handle the mic + stereo. Anyone try them?
I was wondering this also. Has anybody tried this? I would like to know before I buy the headset.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
So no-one has tried this? I'd try it myself but I don't have an iPod headset. I have a gaming headset but it has two separate jacks for microphone/headphone.
I have a pair of those somewhere, but unfortunately no Kindle Fire just yet.
I see. Man if only someone could try and see if this works.
Wait a sec, would a 3.5 mm jack splitter (the one that makes 2 things plug into 1 port) work for this? That could help those that have separate mic and headphones possibly anyways. I mean obviously it's not the best method but that should let us check proof of concept.

That's exactly what I was referring to. The iPod headsets and some other brands have that feature. I do not have a pair and wanted someone to test it before buying.

A splitter wouldn't help. I'm looking at one now, and it has a 3-conductor plug (called a TRS), just like a plug for stereo headphones. The plug on a mic/headphones combo is a TRRS, and has 4 conductors. I thought I had one laying around, but the plug size is 2.5mm, from an old Blackberry I had.
I'm gonna go and look in the trunk of my car. I'm sure I have one...

See if you can find one to test. Download Google Voice and call yourself and see if the microphone works. Get someone to go to another room and see if you can talk to them.
If this works then we can use Skype and GVoice.

These are for the Samsung EHS60, but would these work with the Kindle Fire?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
I'm sure they would work; as I said earlier, these headphone/mic combos have a 4-conductor plug (a TRRS), to accommodate two stereo channels for the headphones plus the mic (audio left, audio right, mic, and neutral). A normal stereo headset has a 3-conductor plug called a TRS (left, right, and neutral).

Somewhere around here I have a stereo microphone with a 3.5mm plug. What a kick it would be if it can actually record in stereo (I kind of doubt it, though). Let me go look for that now...
Thanks, I think I'll make a guide for this later

Sweet. It's not a huge deal for me off the top of my head, but I can only guess as to what this could open up. Skype and what not would be a sweet thing to have on it just for when I don't feel like sitting at my desk.
Here are some good IEM's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826735014
I use them with my Nexus S, works awesome! Any IEM should work with the Kindle, since the port is capable of accepting.
My only thing is they are all ear buds, most of the time they don't fit very well in my ears and can even cause my ears to hurt. Will have to try some stuff out once I get my Kindle in.

Any wired headset with 3.5mm connector will work with Galaxy S III
This is for phone conversations right? I will be working from home so I need it to work perfectly
I'll sell you one. I got the Nocs NS200 but I accidentally got the one button (with mic) version instead of the 3 button that I wanted. Haven't even used them. Opened them up, was disappointed n put them back

You have no idea how WRONG you are.
Galaxy S 3 is one the most picky phones I've ever owned, it's almost as bad as the worst phone ever - LG Nitro HD.
Just go to your local RadioShack and ask them to test all available headsets, see how many of them will be 100% working (sound, mic, music and phone calls). I'll bet at least half of them will only work for music, some will work for phone calls only when plugged in AFTER call was established. Not to mention remote buttons...(I've done just that with 5 headsets they had that could be re-packaged, only one worked)
This is ridiculous. I've already contacted Samsung regarding this, they politely asked me to piss off. The SkullCandy headphone manufacturer also said "bad luck, come again".
Now using piece of sh.t off brand headset, which works perfectly, but with terrible sound.
SkullCandy FIX don't work, however "fake" SkullCandy FIX (black and white with only one button) work fine, but they lasted 1 week before wire broke.
Wired Headset with Microphone
You may want to try Klipsch s4A. It is especially made for Android phones.
im using urbanears bagis.. been using it during the s2 days and now on the s3.. mic works excellently and the earplugs produce excellent sound quality as well..

I'm using Skullcandy's FMJ on my S3. It has a one button mic and I am able to answer calls and end calls with it. Also when not used for calls, pressing it once will play the music player, pressing it twice would play the next song but I can't go back to the previous song though. Pretty much good for me already.
Erm, yeah same here.... Had the basic skull candy ink set, and now a similar set. Both have worked perfectly..... Cheap too at a tenner a pair.....

I am using the Sony XBA-2VP at the moment (right in the middle of Sony's line of balanced armature IEMs). The mike works well on calls as well as with Power Amp.
Wish Sony would release the XBA-3 or XBA-4 for Android (as they have for the iPhone)....
Kind regards
So far everyone who say this and that works fine, refer only to these in-ear type headsets. What about normal buds type, that don't go inside the ear?

ear buds not working

Ear buds are not working on my Xperia arc. They work fine on the computer. I installed this app and it works ok but the quality seems to be lower (compared to when I listen to the same thing on the computer). Is there any alternatives or patches that don't require me loading an app each time I plugin my ear buds?

If it's a headset then the jack is wrong. Sony Ericsson used a different jack than Apple which is why the mic will not work.
