Dear all,
I have searched through the thread, butI found no one ever raised this issue. Is it only me have this issue?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810315
My D71 is currently running on CM10 Alpha5.3, it can't received long text sms. I don't know exactly how many words if a sms exceeds, it can't
be received. I tried several times to sent a sms with about 200 characters to my mobile, with other mobile, my mobile couldn't receive.
Before flash CM10, when my mobile ran on goodness, it had no such issue.
I wonder if this is a setting issue or a bug of rom. Could anyone help?
Thanks.

I've searched far and wide, and can't seem to find anything on the issue I'm having. Or maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but it's been about a straight hour know that I'm looking and can't find the answer I'm looking for.
My problem: When I send a SMS as ONE text it sends perfectly, but once the text reaches 2 texts and I try to send it does not work, it says "sending..." for literally 10 minutes then I get a notification saying the message cannot be sent. I have no idea what I could possibly do to fix this. Someone help, please?
My suggestion is picking up the phone and calling them.. clearly you have alot to say.
(its late... you'll have to excuse me... lol)

Yeah, I was expecting something like that from this time at night..lol. I did laugh.
I think the problem is that the message you're trying to send is over 160 characters, and since SMS messages can't be over 160 characters, and the messages app isn't breaking the text into two texts, it can't send and just times out. Try using chompSMS or Handcent as an alternative, as they have auto-160 breakout features.
A known problem with that Rom. Can't send texts over 160. Why I tries fresh Rom. Can't stand that and don't like the sms in the market. If I can find out to put froyo sms on the Rom id switch back to pick. Bit that's a downfall to me personally.

I really must agree with you. The rom is awesome, but that's a major issue for me. ah well, guess I'll go back to Virus or someone else.

I should spell check before sending. Amyways, on cm6 my sms never had the letter counter so could never tell if over or not. I thought it was the kernel I installed. Then went to the Rom topic and people had the same problem. If I can find out how to pull the sms apk from froyo and push it to cm6 is say I have a perfect Rom.

Yeah, this is a real issue. CM6 was originally for GSM networks, which don't have problems with extra large SMS messages. They haven't tweaked the AOSP messenger for CDMA networks yet (by splitting messages).
Here's the issue on the bug tracker. http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=1942
Be sure to go there, reply and star the issue.

That makes perfect sense. That's pretty game-breaking if you ask me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds that to be a huge problem. I'll definitely go to the link you provided and take it from there. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Search google for "smsc cyanogenmod" and follow the tutorial on that page.
You probably messed up your service center number which causes failures sending sms. Have you been into the service menu and messing around?

Hi!
Your Provider has the SMC data on his homepage Had the same problem with 3-Austria...
Hi everyone, despite many hours of searching, it appears I have a unique problem.
I have recently swapped from ViperXL to CM10.1 and have been mostly impressed with it, my one bugbear is sending SMS messages.
I am able to send and receive texts OK but all of my messages continue to display 'SENDING' below the sent message.
I never had the problem with stock or viper, but the problem persists with CM.
I have checked my settings, the SMSC is correct (+61418706700 Telstra), not sure if there is anything else that would cause a problem.
I tried Go SMS Pro and Textra with the same results.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Try a different AOSP ROM. It may be exclusive to that particular ROM that it is not reporting the successful sending of SMS to the apps.

Thanks for your response, I tried the latest CM10.1 nightly (25/7) which killed my phone signal completely.
Excuse my ignorance, what do you mean by AOSP ROM? Can you suggest one or post a link please?
cheers

Android Open Source Project.
I have run ViperXL & the stock ROM for my phone seems to work OK, only seems to fail in CM10.1
I have the same problem on HTC Desire S with a CM10.1
SMS can be received and sent but in the SMS app it says "sending..." and after some time the red ! shows up and an error message.
However, the SMS are sent as I know from the receiver.
Any ideas?
and no one noticed he is saying VIPER XL....EVITA......wrong forum mates. go to the AT&T HTC One XL forum ASAP !
Okay, I've got a weird problem with SMS texts. I can receive them just fine, but if I answer that sms it doesn't get sent! I have to go out the app and start a fresh sms (instead of just replying and seeing the tread above) to get it to send! It's so weird!!
Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Complainer: Answer is not related to particular phone model.
I hardy remember but there was setting like "use defined communication center=YES/NO".
Center is related to carrier.
If someone sends SMS reply directly - not always works if at all.
I cannot tell more, unfortunately.

There are no settings like that on the Z1 Compact. But I've slimmed the error. It seems that I can reply just fine to just about any number except one... my wife's number . Perhaps the thread i've imported is way to long (I think over 500 texts)?
Any ideas?
When ever I send a text after receiving a new one in the same minute, the reply I sent shows before the older text. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have experienced this since gingerbread
issue... feature... dunno at this point
Mine does the same. Started a few months ago.
I can remember this happening on every Galaxy I've had, starting with the old Captivate. Doubt there is a fix.

I had the same problem, it turned out to be a date and time setting. Had to click the automatic date and time setting.
