Is it worth upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy SIII? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently own the Xperia Play and was just wondering if it's worth upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S3?
Personally I'm getting quite tired of the thickness of the phone itself as I barely use the gamepad feature anyway. I am also a little bit reluctant being attached to a 2 year contract.
Any ideas?
BTW... Please do not mention Iphone 5... imo it really sucks!

I have both the Xperia Play & Galaxy S III (international version). I would say that if you want an awesome phone GET IT. I really don't like the Xperia Play myself too. Too thick & etc.

I'd get an HTC phone way before a Samsung. Also HTC will be PlayStation certified.

Gamer = xperia play
Others = SG3
So get S3 too
Click thanks if i helped!

I would never buy the S3 for a few reasons.
1: The Super AMOLED screen has a pentile subpixel matrix, which makes it more green than any other color
2: The build quality is cheap
3: The Super AMOLED screen creates a burn-in on the notification bar
4: The LEDs on the screen wear out much more quickly than a normal LCD display
So I say no, but w/e

Great, if u dont love games.
Other than that, You should get it!!!

Have consider new iPhone 5

Thats a great combo for home use but not on the go. There is no stand on the Nyko controlller to hold the Android device in place. Which means you can only play your Android device on a flat surface. No thanks but I am waiting for the Xperia Play 2.

I have the same setup with my one x

which phone do you like better? list the pros and cons of each device and decide which one you can live with.
cheers
Why are you asking us? Let's be honest, you're going to do what you want in the end no matter what we recommend. And this being the nexus forum you already know what your going to hear.

I had the one s. Had a desire HD then got excited and got the s
Hardware wise great.
Screen felt small. Its way to thin. Development is nowhere near the x or older HTC devices.
I have had the x also in between though I had a nexus. Traded in for an x.
Now back on the nexus lol
Be honest its your choice but if your trading go for the x

I wouldn't trade it. The One S is a decent enough phone, but I would never trade my Galaxy Nexus for it.

I wouldn't trade my Gnex for nothing out except the Next Nexus!
I was at the club the other day and my friend was there with his friend! He has an HTC one s, we swapped phones and "played" with them for a few moments. I've ready played with the one S before but his reactions to how smooth and fast my nexus was, was priceless! He also mention how he liked the on screen buttons and size of the phone itself...
Just my little story, if I were EVER Trade for a one S, it would be 250.00 + mint condition One S for my mint condition White nexus....yes I know. Overkill. Lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Answer for these "should I trade" threads are same. Yes. Why? Well we all are Gnex users and we're Gnex users for a reason. Because we love it and it is a best phone in our opinion.
What does that mean? You will get a pretty biased answer, I'm gonna be honest with you.
You should really do a research on the phone and see if you think it'll really fit your life more than Gnex you know? Everyone's opinion is different.
Hell no, after coming from a Nexus you will see all pixels on the One S. I compared my nexus to my friend's one s and noticed all pixels, and see pixels every time now.

Sony Nexus X.. Real or fake?

I surely like Sony design...

I would love a Xperia Nexus but hope the design would be better than that one. So far I haven't heard any info from my sources.

Fake, check out this update from a Photoshop expert above the pic in attached link. http://androidandme.com/2012/10/smartphones-2/did-the-sony-nexus-x-just-leak-out/
Plus everyone knows LG has the next Nexus phone locked in, there's not yet been more than one release at a time why would this occasion be any different? Just doesn't make sense really.
Now the next one we can only hope... eb

Call it fake or mockup or whatever, there is a strong rumor that Sony will be releasing Nexus Phone this year.
And how is a Sony Nexus different from the Xperia T? Or rather, what exactly is a Nexus? Also, I'm more interested in the rumored quad core Sony phone that was leaked last week.

What's so awesome about the nexus? Ive never had one and I wanted the first one but never could afford a smart phone until now. Ive seen some talk about the Sony Odin having 5inch 1080p display 2gigs of ram and a new quad-core cpu, why so much hype about a nexus?
Edit- also just an fyi this isn't me trying to put the nexus down just an honest question

In general, a Nexus device gets the latest updates faster than any other phone. They usually set the bar for where Google thinks the platform should be at. All of the manufacturers will have their own flagship devices, but none of them will get updates faster than a Nexus device.

I want a phone that is similar to the defy in physical shape and durability, but with more power and mininimum jb as stock.
Have been loooking a bit on the xperia z, but it is not very rugged and rather big . and Ideally i want to wait until BT low energy Api becomes part of android.
i would disqualify Motorola for the way they broke ics upgrade promisises.. but i cant overlook just how much beating my defy have faced without a scratch... so if they are the only maker of a phone with those traits.....
Well for now i am running quarkx 4.1.2 and it is good enough for me.
Patience....

...i'm not sure at the moment...
Moto X
Samsung S4 Outdoor
Samsung S4 Mini
Xiaomi MI-2s
HTC M4
Sony Xperia V
Sony Xperia L
Sony Xperia SP
It would be very nice if my next phone is waterproof.
Next Phone
I'm not sure if we get an option to buy the Motorola phones here in India, anybody who can throw some light on this is appreciated. I have a DEFY not planning to sell.
PS: Whenever I go to these stores here in India, the seller Moto models are not available & they don't stock it. I'm aware of Motorola closing doors here, but any other ways to buy?
As I generally avoid buying Samsung products, the only two phones that I consider at the moment are:
Razr HD
Xperia Acro S
Xperia V
While I really think that the Razr I is a nice phone, there is no CM for it yet (and I have my doubts that it will ever be).
For now, I stay with the Defy because of the form factor (for me, the size is just right) and the community.
I'm in two minds whether to buy it s3 or nexus 4!

Worth trying.
Although if u r willing to stay on a smooth and fantastic featured SXS, u might as well be.. Or just take a quad core which lags quite often if rooted..

Well...
Considering a CPU and updates I would do it…
Considering camera, video screen and the hdmi port, I wouldn’t do it…
Considering built material and design, I would never do it…

Me am a Sony fan n won't advise u to give up this machine for any other brand part from Sony it's updates are late but bring a big difference look at ics n jb totally different now a s3 is always updated as people say but it stays the same boring dnt

i'm looking at getting a pebble in a week or 2 and general reviews say nothings wrong with it so it's worth looking at. The sony smartwatch 2 is also worth a look as well.
I was looking on youtube and it look's great..But here in Croatia it's so expensive :/ ..And what about other watches?
Galaxy Gear can be rooted and used with another android device..What do you think guys?Or even Sony Smartwatch it's amazing
I've been using my pebble for a week now and I can honestly say go get one even if the price is steep. With 2.0 firmware you get most of what you get with the gear but 2.0 is still in beta/release candidate(battery drain is insane on my hox with 4.2.2 stock Rom when I was using the beta). The pebble has been great with getting texts, facebook, etc and battery life is great with 4-5 days on a charge.
