Flashing roms on flashed phone? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Had my phone flashed over to verizon prepaid... Im just wondering can I still flash roms, or will it break the flash?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

Shouldn't be any problems. Keep a nandroid in case u ever have any issues but I've never had an issue with other flash phones.

Alright thanks

Been meaning to ask, but who is that guy in the Santa costume?

The gif on my signature? I have no clue. I just found it hilarious.

It is. It makes me laugh every time, albeit a little creepy.

Not to sound rude, but you should already know better if you claim to be a flash freak. The devs are still working hard to bring us some custom roms and kernels. Remember this phone recently came out so we're not expected to have a million roms just yet. Good luck with your flashing.

You know what I miss??

When I had my vibrant before I would flash a new rom I would always use Odin to flash back to stock 2.1. Then after flashing I would here the voice super curio would put in his voodoo kernels telling me how long til completion. Sorry just remembering some old times.

I understand your nostalgia, and not being a ****, but really what is the point of this?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
There was no point steve-o. Cant we just occasionally just make a pointless thread and not take everything so seriously?
I did just realize I probably should have posted this in the general section.

When I was a noob that voice freaked the **** out of me lol. I miss voodoo tweaks. Isn't super on our phone now?

Hey man I had the same issue as you. I even lost root for some reason. I fixed it by using his super wipe script. Then flashing the rom then radio and literally not touching it for like five minutes after it boots up. Once I got signal I then rebooted and was good from there.

Hows the phone working till this day? Are you getting all your calls? I flashed this rom and had the same problem and just wanted to know if your way worked. If it does then I am going to flash back to evolution b2 and daily it. Its a great rom!
I went back to stock gingerbread and got a new sim card so I didn't need a new sim card????

Since all major carriOrson have this phone and sprint seems to be the smallest...

Is the sprint boards the best place to creep? Seems like all the boards could be converged.

Except for the small problem that flashing another carrier's ROM will brick your phone...

Not true. I've done it several times and obviously still have a working phone. Flashing roms from the i9300 will definitely brick your phone though. I don't recommend doing it (even though I have) because of the risk but I'm fully aware and cautious. Flashing radios meant for another device is a definite no no

True true...but still think having 3 separate boards needs to be looked at again. Maybe the different carriers could have their own subsection for Roms and what not.

They tried that already. It became a MECCA for "my carrier is better than yours" flame wars.

That and the massive levels of requests for devs to port roms and then they get flamed for not wanting to support 4 different rom threads.

Haha I wondered why they nixed that.
I liked the idea of combining them all. But seperatimg development. Would have a lot less of the same stupid question being asked 1000 times a week I bet.
And ya nothing wrong with flashing another us sgs3 rom just no modems. Kinda like running tmo ROMs n having the fukd up screen rotation lol

The screen rotation is fixed by flashing a cm10 based kernel after you've flashed the ROM and gapps and let it boot

3G/H+ issue in AOSP ROMs

Hey guys, I guess this has been reported before but I've never seen solutions or explanations for it. On AOSP ROMs, data works when it displays "H+", when its in "3G", it stops working, but thing is, sometimes I have to turn off data and back on again for it to work properly because it stays stuck in 3G
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T999 using xda premium
That's a rom related issue, not all aosp ROMs have that issue.

Also, simply toggling airplane mode on/off can help. Itll ensure you are connected to the best possible tower.

Using latest md5, can I use that old team sonic flasher that's around here? Also, I've heard of some people saying their phones get hotter with md5, mine does so too, any ideas on that?

You can use it, though it hasn't been updated in a very long time. Only thing we know of so far for the md5 heat issue is to use a different modem.
You can flash any modem as long as it is for your model.

Yep just flashed the previous one from md5 from your thread (ljc I think) and its working better. Heat is less and data seems to be more consistent
