Help ME!!!! Ive recently had my screen being unresponsive when i press the power/home button. its been about 2 days now and im struggling to get it to work at all now.. Is there anything is can do?!
The phone switches on and sometimes i get the screen to come on and as soon as i lock it i cant get it to come on.
I'm thinking its a dodgy connection to the battery. Its nothing to do with my rom etc. as i managed to restore back to Saturday before it started being faulty and its still the same...
Any knowledge is much muchly appreciated
Hey, I'm new to xda!
I'm having the same problem, my Xperia Play R800i will work for awhile after plugging it into the mains then when the screen goes into standby it won't turn back on!
I've tried a multitude of firmware and also tried relocking my bootloader.
Any suggestions?
Your flex cables have broken, these are the thin ribbon connections which connect from the motherboard to the screen itself. The Xplay has two flex cable. Best option is to send it warranty (2 years warranty) or you can buy a flex cable repair kit for the Xperia Play which will cost you around 30-40 bucks. There is an" Xperia Play Disassembly" guide on YouTube which should help you on the way.
Thanks for your reply!
I have had a look at the video and reseached a few replacements.
Would it be better to repair the ribbon connection with a kit or purchase another LCD screen?
The display does work sometimes and is fully functional when it's on. (I can reply to texts, make calls etc.)
OK, first of all you must consider if the phone has warranty as this is the free option you can go for. Are you in a country where there is a Sony Repair Centre? If you do not think you have the chance to acess a Sony Repair Centre then you only need the flex cable, the LCD digitizer seems fine to me, I think you have the same problem I had. You will need to buy something which comes with the tools to open up your phone.
Something similar to this.....

Hello guys,
Around a week back, my MT3G slide touch screen got unresponsive for a while. I rebooted around 2-3 times and thankfully the touchscreen worked fine.
Now, I am getting this unresponsive touchscreen more often and I have to pull out the battery from the phone and turn it on again. The last time this happened I had to do this about 8-10 times before the touchscreen would respond. I have no problems with my keypad, 4 buttons or the trackpad, just the touchscreen
I also did a factory reset and erased all the data that I had on my phone and SD card.
EDIT : I just figured that the touchscreen sometimes starts working if you slide out the keypad. But once the keypad is slid back in, it's back to being unresponsive.
My phone is out of warranty so I can not get a replacement I think.
Does anyone know what could be the problem for such frequent touchscreen unresponsive behavior. After a couple of reboots, everything returns to normal.
Any ideas ? I would appreciate any help..
Thanks a lot...
you got a broken ribbon
Hi there,
Do you mean the slide rail flex cable or the digitizes flex cable ?
Thanks
flex ribbon cable
I would say it's the flex ribbon cable which connects the motherboard piece to the screen and home button piece. I've purchased several "broken" my touch 3g slides from ebay that had either the screen shift problem when the keyboard was slid out or screen that was unresponsive/wouldn't come on. Both problems were fixed by purchasing an inexpensive flex ribbon cable like item 170747702766 on ebay. I watched a video and followed along on youtube /watch?v=-jgFHuVWlig (stop at 7:27 and reverse the process). However, my most used mt3gs is now starting to have the screen shift problem again and needs a new cable... it didn't last as long as I had hoped.
Did you try any custom roms?. reflashing/updating the device?
I guess it must be some driver issue!..
i have the same problem.
Could you fix it?
Seems to be a common issue. I've described the process of replacing the flex ribbon cable here - it's not a rocket science. Or just bring the phone to a serviceman who will do the same (if you lucky enough he could even have a spare cable, but I'd advice you to have your own bought from ebay to be sure).

Thank you for the information but another questiion that I do have is where would one get a serviceman that would repair or help repair a phone, usually the technicians are attached to the different cellular carriers and if one dosen't have a contract with them they are not likely to help repair your phone even if it is for a fee. Do you know any serviceman?
well, i' have installed roms for a while and everything is ok, but in last days my phone sometimes stop responding, the screen doesn't turn on pushing the power button, but the funny is that apparently the phone still working, how do I know? if i have patience after a moment maybe 10 mins or in other cases is delayed 1 day the screen shows up in the last part where it was.
Now when I don't have patience and i pull off the battery and try to turn on the phone, the phone apparently turn on, vibrate, and then show the blue light and thats all , the phone still has keep in the black screen and I have to pull off the battery and repeat the process until the phone wants turn on
please help me this problem is really stressful
and a extra information..
2 or 3 months ago my phone fell down in a pool
maybe the problem is the battery? any help is valuable for me
So I can tell you 90% your Xperia Play suffers from a disease called "the flex cable damaged" disease. Your phone will have to undergo a surgery which will replace the damaged flex cable with a new one. Flex cable is the cable which connects the motherboard to the screen. Common issue for Xperia Play. Revert to stock, and I mean completely stock, then send to Sony Centre and replace for free if you still have warranty.
woww that was fast, unfortunately I have no warranty, my cousin throw me at the pool so i think he can pay me the flex cable... do you know how much is it?
by the way........rhank you sooooooo much
Er I am not sure about the price cause I got mine fixed under warranty. But I think it's not really expensive
So a tip for us is that open the slider slowly to avoid damage to the flex cable right?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app

Yep. Some people always push up hard (I am one of them ) then my flex cable is damaged.
I don't think it has anything to do with how hard you're using the device.
It has to do with how it was installed from the factory.
sometimes the cable can get bunched up underneath the screen and get a crimp in it.
My other spare screen slider cord has been crimped and i don't know how much longer it will last
but my other one is totally fine.
Guys I had problems too with my XP. One day the screen became all glitchy than i changed my flex cable and now the Device goes on when I push the on/off button the device thrills but no screen.
Any solution for this all ready flashed stock .TFT file.
Hey guys,
I think I destroyed my HTC One X. I just bought it a month ago from Ebay, and it worked flawless. At some point the display just turn off. I restarted the phone, heard the sound when it starts and even the softkeys worked. But the Display was still off. After after a few restarts the display turned on for a minute, just to freeze after that and turned off again. The phone was still on though.
However I've read a bit around and found out that it could be a cpu heat problem, which could be true because my phone was way too warm sometimes. So I removed the display and put a tiny little bit thermal compound on the cpu. Somehow I managed to rip off the connection cable to the display ... also I managed to rip off the little black cable near the soft keys. The soft keys still work though.
When I start the phone the starting sound comes, the softkeys blink when I restart the phone, you hear the volume buttons etc. So it seems the phone is fully working. Just the display or touchscreen is damaged.

So, what can I do?
Do you think I could just send it to this site http://www.directfix.com/product/REP-0063.html and let them repair it? Or did I destroyed my phone too much already?
Thanks in advance.
Well, the top cable is ripped off,you can't do anything at this point. The bottom one just seems out of slot as far as i can tell from the pics.
Basicaly you can send it to the repair shop, but i don't think that you can only change the cables, don't really know what to say...Could cost you some to repair it.
I don't want to only change the cables. I want to use this full repair service:
"HTC One X Complete Screen Replacement Service (Includes LCD & Digitizer)".
So they change the cables and put on a new LCD & Digitizer as far I understand.
But do you guys think they will put back the other cable back in slot too?
Please just answer, do you guys think they can repair it if they put on a new screen & digitalizer?
I don't see why not,you can also contact them and explain them the situation. Those cables are quite easy to put back with the proper tools so you don't have to worry about it.
hi friend.my tab s 8.4(t705) has a bad problem.my tab screen show white color on green.my tablet bag has magnet.yesterday i exit my tab from bag and see screen work correct.but next time it doesnt show color correct.pls help me.i flash 5.0.2 stock rom.but this problem is hardware problem, becouse this problem is on recovery and boot animation
It could be something as simple as an bad connection it happens all the time, any flexing of the tablet can cause connectors to become loose, or damage could have happened to the display they are very sensitive and drops and bangs can damage them.
If you are still in warranty get it repaired or replaced, or take it to an phone/tablet repair shop, or if you are handy it`s easy to take one apart, lots of guides on ebay.
John.
I OPEN back cover and reinsert all connectors.but i doesnt work
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while, though i doubt this will help as i think the display is damaged, you need to get your tablet looked at by a repair shop.

Alright so, after a lot of researching, I haven't found a solution to this
The Phone is fairly new, always used a case, didn't drop too hard ever
..a few days ago the phone just went black, with a few thin vertical lines still lit (this means it must be a hardware problem)
Anyways, before giving it back for warranty, I wanted to pull some data off of it
I can hear the phone turn on, it vibrates when I press the finger print sensor, but first time unlocking requires the code which I can't get to unlock.
I tried to put another Moto Z play beside it and try to guess the number pad location but failed.
so now, I cant connect the phone to a PC
-USB debugging was off
-boot loader locked
and I dont have a Type-C to HDMI cable (yet)
help
also, I tried everything mentioned in this post, but failed
Display has gone.
Many Z Play users had this problem.
Let it get repaired in the service centre.
I took it to the service center, the screen was cracked from the inside.
No idea how, I had a case on it, and it didnt fall
and warranty doesnt cover it...eh
You can choose to replace the screen of a new moto z play yourself. It is very easy. My moto z play is broken. The screen is not touchable. I found a moto z play scree repair guide on the internet. I looked at the replacement. The new screen is very good.
