So I tried searching why the Tegra3 variant doesn't have LTE and the answers are more like "because the lte radio isn't compatible", I'm wondering why exactly is it not compatible?
Same goes for the SIII, it also has a LTE variant(Dual core) and a quad-core chip without LTE.
Its not like I'm suffering from the lack of LTE, its just curiosity.
Anyone ?

qualcomm LTE radio isn't and qualcomm wasn't helpful to Nvidia to integrate it with Tegra
so Nvidia had to make an LTE radio on its own hence the imminent Tegra 3+
Qualcomm wasn't helpful about it to Nvidia? Wow okay. So I assume the current LTE radios are by qualcomm only then.
Found a link explaining the snapdragon(in the lte variant of one x and s3). It includes everything basically, the processor, radio, etc. The Exynos Quad and Tegra3 don't include a LTE radio.
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/350403/20120609/samsung-galaxy-s3-exynos4-snapdragons4-variant.htm
From what I've read till now, people seem to be more happy with the dual-core S3 than the dual-core one x. Anyways Tegra3+ ought to fix that, its actually gonna be phone raping everything then lol! LTE, higher clocks, less nm manufacturing?
not most likely it will not be an nm shrink
Today, NVIDIA announced that their Icera 410 LTE modem has been approved for use in tablets and clamshell devices on AT&T’s network. While that does not mention smartphone use yet, this is a step towards LTE and Tegra 3 coming to the States in at least some form. As we have documented plenty of times, NVIDIA has been unable to pair its quad-core mobile processor with LTE because its biggest competitor (Qualcomm) is the only guy making LTE modems at this time and likely does not feel like sharing. With today’s approval, this should bring NVIDIA up to speed in no time (assuming they get the smartphone approval too).

I wonder if they'll do something like what Apple does and offer a subsidised trade-in for T3 HOX to T3+ HOX.
I don't think HTC can afford to, however much I would love to be able to

I got involved in a discussion in another forum that's turned into why the North American Galaxy series has a Snapdragon and not the Exynos. What are your thoughts?
Mine comes from the Sprint S2, we were told it had the Exynos because of WiMax. The Exynos wasn't compatible with the LTE modem at the time so everyone else had the Snapdragon. Now, its due to energy issues and it sucking the battery because of, I can only assume, compatibility issues. Yet, the Note 3 has the Exynos and can use LTE, right?
So what gives? I don't care about which SoC is better - that would go on for months. Just the reason behind the choice.
Sent from inside the matrix
T-Mobile note 3 has snapdragon 805 I think. Actually I think all variants do. I always read that snapdragons were actually better in performance standards and architecture of chip is why. Even though exynos may have a higher clock rate the snapdragons actually do calculations "better". Back when one of the galaxy series came out, I watched countless YouTube explanations explaining which is "better". As to why they use one in a us brand versus international version, no idea.

I don't think we'll ever know, honestly. For every article I point out showing why my reasoning is correct, there's another stating the complete opposite. I thought there was some plausibility to it being about money but my Exynos phone wasn't any more expensive than the Snapdragon version. Then there was the conspiracy theory about carriers controlling what SoC's go in phones, time travel, Kennedy. There might be a shred of truth in that story I'm just not sure where. Oh internet...
I liked my S2 but I have to say, the Snapdragon has always been a beast (you can OC the hell out of them too) and there's way more development support with them.
Someone once told me that Qualcomm has intellectual property rights to certain CDMA LTE modem technologies in the USA. This especially applies to CDMA phones for Sprint and Verizon. If that is true, then it is cheaper for Samsung to use Qualcomm LTE chips since using Exynos LTE chips would require a licensing agreement with Qualcomm.
Edit: I found this article that explains it: http://www.tmonews.com/2012/05/editorial-why-a-snapdragon-s4-galaxy-s-iii-is-awesome/
Excerpt:
"But if you are thinking that other carriers will get SoCs other than Qualcomm’s in the future, you’d probably be wrong. Most LTE modems do not support U.S. Digital Dividend frequencies, which means the LTE networks of AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and most regional carriers will be stuck with Qualcomm’s modems. T-Mobile can use non-Qualcomm LTE modems because the AWS band T-Mobile is using is a standardized band that is well-supported. Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and most regional carriers operate CDMA2000 networks, which means they have no choice but to use Qualcomm’s modems, since no one else makes CDMA2000 modems because Qualcomm owns all the IP rights to the cdmaOne/CDMA2000 technologies. Maybe once CDMA2000/LTE carriers start offering devices that don’t support CDMA2000, then we’ll see non-Qualcomm Snapdragon LTE devices on those networks, provided that U.S. Digital Dividend, ESMR+Cellular 850, and Extended U.S. PCS bands are all supported by non-Qualcomm modems by then."

Hey all, I've decided to get a Tab s 10.5 however cant decide which CPU to go for, im not interested in LTE but it seems its the LTE version that has the snapdragon CPU. I live in the UK and on Samsungs official online store they sell both the WiFi version and LTE version with the Exynos CPU. However Carphone Warehouse are selling the LTE version with a "2.3ghz Processor" but it doesnt say Snapdragon although i assume it is. Its an extra £80 so is it worth it if i dont really need the 4G
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/tablet/samsung-gal-tab-s-10point5-4g?colourCode=BRONZE (click features then specifications)
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/comparison?prda=SM-T805NTSABTU&prdb=SM-T800NTSABTU (need to click "ALL" on the right hand side)
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/tablets/tab-s/SM-T805NTSABTU (need to scroll down and click more specs)
I dont know if those links will work or not
I think all Euro/Asian version are with Exynos, both LTE and WiFi only. So far I have not heard of anyone having the Snapdragon variant, my guess is that it may be limited only to some US operator variants or such.
Carphone warehouse 8.4 lte here on O2. It's Exynos, not snapdragon
Hmm so Carphone Warehouse have mis printed it? I suppose i could go in and ask to see the back of the box lol. If it turns out it is the snapdragon which is better? Itll mainly be used for youtube and browsing
Also i am going to tether it to my note 3 that has 4g but have never done it so dont know how it works. For me to utilise 4g on the tablet through my phone i take it ill need the LTE version?
It's all a bit confusing. Qualcomms website states that the Tab S LTE is powered by Snapdragon.

You will only need the lte version if you plan to use a sim card inside the tablet. If you are tethering to your phone then you will only need the wifi model.

As far as I know, Wifi only model does not come with ear speaker. I use it a lot as a phone, VoIP, replaced my phone at home, with Skype etc. Works great!
After doing a bit of research about it myself, recently. I have just found sellers with incorrect info about what they have for sale. All of them so far have the Exynos.
It is kind of funny though, the Samsung spec page has them listed as Exynos.
http://www.samsung.com/my/support/model/SM-T705NZWAXME-techspecs
While the Qualcomm site says they are using their Snapdragon.

Yes confusing.
Supposedly only the Verizon LTE version uses the Snapdragon. Probably due to the modem integration.
I would normally open a new thread, however this post comes up on top in a Google search about the OP's original question which was never answered. Since this question was never really intended to be about whether the warehouse were really selling what they said they were or not. But instead about whether the Qualcomm CPU was worth the Exynos CPU on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The question is being asked again.

As far as my understanding goes, all S models are Exynos for now.
Pro line is Snapdragon.
I think only certain US Carriers use the Snapdragon chip Tab S LTE.
this chipset exynos 5420 is 3g in general no 4g lte .this is new 5420 with lte included or lte has dedicated chipset ?
becuase my note 3 n900 exynos 5420 support only 3g freq. but 5420 in this tablet support 4g let
if use another chipset just for lte power consumption is too much more than 3g
as i know, the tab S model use intel chip to support 4g
I have not (yet) read on any Samsung site of any Tab S using Snapdragon. To avoid any future confusion, I suggest to forget the other sites, and go straight to the source themselves (Samsung) .....

The mods know about the Snapdragon issue. Because Snapdragon is offered in some limited markets they say it should remain. I don't agree as the vast majority of these devices are Exynos. It is misleading but they won't change it.

I could only suggest that they need to " amend " the description, not " omit ". Just add Exynos to it, that's all. Or go the " hard " way and have separate forums same as other devices .... End of confusion
I thought AT&T were getting the snapdragon LTE models. May be wrong though.

Samsung.com doesn't list any Qualcomm specs for the T700/T705/T800, says they're all Exynos™ 5 Octa (1.9Ghz Quadcore + 1.3 Ghz Quadcore).
The only possible Tab S with a Snapdragon is the T805.
Does anybody on this forum have a Snapdragon Tab S?

I just ordered the Sprint variant of the Tab S 10.5 (SPHT807TAB) yesterday, and it uses the Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974). Unsure if the other carriers have/will release it.

So the T807 is the Snapdragon model.
How's the performance?

It shipped out today, so I most likely won't know until Monday or Tuesday. But I'd imagine the performance will be just like my Note 3 since it's the same SoC and memory.

Yes, please keep us informed.
I picked up the WIFI version a few days ago after seeing it posted here that BB was discounting the 32GB. I am not noticing any significant lags other than within certain apps that I have also noticed it my Note 8. I would be torn over which to choose, the Snapdragon/Sprint or the 32GB version.
Incidentally, if you chose the the monthly option @ $27 (total $650) , did it also include the cellular plan for 2 years or was that additional? (Update:Never mind, found the answer on the Sprint website)
My Tab S from sprint will be here shortly. I will post back about its performance. I am trying to find out if there is a root method that works for this model.

So far, even with the crap-bloatware Samsung/Sprint like to pile on, and the memory-monster-TouchWiz; this tablet is performing quite well. The Snapdragon definitely makes up for all of the aforementioned annoyances. Certainly more responsive and 'snappy' than the Exynos variant that I've messed around with. I can't wait to see how fast this is going to be running once we have root and custom kernels.
I do find it odd that they went back to the old USB 2.0 port vs the duel 3.0 port though; I get great charge times with my Note 3 using that.
HI,
I purchased a galaxy tab S 8.4 with LTE capabilities.
upon checking my CPU, all benchmarking tools pointed out that my CPU is a samsung exynos 5420 1.9ghz!
if I am not mistaken, this is the CPU of the WIFI only version.
I am suppose to get a Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHZ with my LTE version.
can anyone clarify on this? should I return it to the store and have them replace my unit with an appropriate specification?
thanks!

This had been answered many times. ...
I'll answer again. Your eyes don't lie.
At the moment, all international SGT-S 8.4 and 10.5 WIFI and LTE devices use the same Exynos processor + Mali GPU.
I have not yet seen any official Samsung website stating otherwise.
There may be some USA "carrier variant" using Snapdragon + Adreno though, but not seen any user post confirming device in hand.

Hello, I just bought a Tab S 10.5 LTE version. I found out only now that the CPU varies between models, so now I wonder, will mine come with a Snapdragon or an Exynos?
It wasn't written on the description.
Use an app called cpuz to find out what chipset you have and everything about your device.
Yeah I will. But the thing is it will arrive in 3-4 days so the doubt is strong
I was just wondering whether 100% of LTE versions have the snapdragon.

wrong, here in Sweden both WiFi and LTE uses Exynos 5420, with LTE support thanks to the Intel LTE chip.
