Hi,
Since LG's new phones have this ability to turn the usb into a tv out port, doesnt Galaxy W have any apps to do that too? I would suspect that its not really the hardware which matters (since i dont insist on it to be HD) so an app or smth like that should have the ability to do that.
I mean everytime i want to gather the family to watch a film i took or a picture, i have to move that file from my W to a hard disk in the laptop, then stick the laptop to the tv!!! Isnt there any direct way to just stick the phone directly to the television?!
Thanks in advance.
Woops im sorry this should have been posted in the q&a forum. im sorry

Can you enable USB mass storage mode on your phone and plug into a usb port on the TV?
HW x SW
1. I am almost sure there is no hardware in out SGW to transmit video sognal thru USB. We already discussed this in different place here.
2. If TV has mass storage support, this might be a solution for you as hundred_miles_high mentions.
Streaming audio+screen (mirroring) wirrless would also be a cool idea. Dont think this is possible though

There is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.onaips.vnc&feature=search_result but then you need to have your TV with VNC client installed.

Since I moved from Windows Mobile I've been looking for a USB Webcam app.
I've recently found it and wanted to share the info.
Check for "USB Webcam" on the Market and Placaware for the desktop drivers.
USB debugging must be on for the driver to work.
It's working for videos in Skype (but not for audio).
Too bad the developer is shutting down this project. Maybe some developer will find it interesting and take over the development.
Try Droidcam, it works great
Problem with Droidcam is that it uses wifi. I prefer to have a usb connection so that it charges while been used as a webcam.

I cant find the app in the market... Could someone upload the apk file?

Thats not a problem, but a feature! You can connect with usb anyway so it charges at the same time.

I really dont think that wifi webcam (droidcam) can be better than usb webcam (placaware). I didn't tried any of them (download link for placaware apk file please?), but for obvious reasons the preformance should be better through usb.

I've got my copy from the Market. Does the apk gets stored somewhere so that I can copy it for you?
In the meantime, have you tried to post a message to the developer. I think he even mentions to so if you can't get the sw on the Market.
here's an idea...
plug it in while using wifi..... W O W .
Got my new Galaxy Nexus today, and the day went pretty much playing with it.
One thing that I don't get is that if you're using Mac/OSX you need to download an OSX app from android.com to use USB Mass Storage mode in OSX.
Really Google? You really can't be serious with this BS towards OSX users
Google don't like apple simple and its vice versa

It's not that.. the nexus doesn't support USB mass storage.. it uses MTP (a microsoft protocol) for media transfer..
OS X doesn't have native MTP support like Windows does.. so google provides a program you can use to transfer files..

This is the sad truth.. there is an advantage to it (which is why they chose to do it); the entire storage can be used for apps.
If it's a big issue for you, just wait until an ICS device with an SD card comes out. the SD card will allow regular USB mass storage (without any extra PC/Mac software)

Just wait until Google's OSX app crashes for the n'th time in a row. Then you will really question Google's choice of MTP.
Google wrote that using this scheme allows Android to keep the drive mounted and provide access to the host. And with respect to MTP, well most people use Windows and MTP is well support on that platform.
Sigh...
i downloaded the app and haven't thought about it since. not a big deal.
eric b
I can't say i've really noticed it being a problem, it was the same with the xoom. It exactly the same process, just the 3 minutes it takes to download the app the first time that is the difference.
Not really a major issue.
There's also things like Wifi File explorer and also a DAV server - so you can mount the phone remotely as a drive - available on the android market.
No real need to use the cable, unless you're doing development with it.
Or you can run Windows in a VM on your MAC like I do. I need windows for certain apps so I have Parallels 6.0 and I get everything I need without compromise. The BLAME sites squarely with APPLE.

The app isn't downloaded to be used on the phone, its downloaded and used on the computer.

thank u
That app seems to barely work for me with my tab 10.1. It worked fine at first, but now it never seems to work regardless of the ROM I'm using (which is typically stock). Hopefully the Nexus won't/doesn't have that problem.
If you're wondering, it doesn't show the data on the device. It just shows <none> for the folder and file.

MTP is NOT a Microsoft protocol (though might've been developed by them). It's a USB standard and has been since 2008. Apple has just been slow to implement it.

Not raging, just wondering why it is this way. But I got good responses, and couple of idiots here also trying to boost their egos.
The thing why I'm complaining is that the app that google tells you to install, doesn't work very well It usually hangs on the first run, and you have to force-quit it, and open it again to get it working.
1.Has anyone connected a flash storage for a long time (like watching a movie file from it)? Because we are supposed to use only mouse/keyboard without root
2.With Titanium can I store e.g. in a game only the apk and the game saves and not the SD data?
3.Those with ICS, did you see any difference with the updated adreno drivers in games? How about the menu hardware acceleration?

Hello!
So I'm thinkin' off buying this http://dx.com/p/micro-usb-on-the-go-host-otg-adapter-pair-50774 for my Note II but I've heard many different things about this...
Does anybody here have experience with a OTG Adapter for the Note II? It was bought in Sweden and is only rooted at the moment.
I am using it and have no issue.

If you meant transferring files fro note 2 to usb or vice versa, then yes.
You can even connect mouse, keyboard,(I play online games via my Gamepad!) so pretty much anything that can be connected via usb.
Do I need to have some kind of app to support keyboard gamepads or any other usb peripheral device ?

In my case, the mouse, keyboard and the gamepad all connected and worked, except for the gamepad.
When you connect the mouse, a real mouse pointer as in desktop comes up on the screen. Real nifty.
The keyboard function properly as well. Even dedicated multimedia keys also work.
As for the gamepad, you may need Sixaxis controller to configure it. In SGeadzone online game, there is an option to configure or remap the gamepad buttons. Not sure about other games though.
Hello there!
So i just bought a Samsung galaxy tab S 8.4 SM-T700 version. And i must say, it is beautiful...
But my problem lies in the torrenting, i got a 64 gb microsd card and put it in so that i can download things and i dont have to run my pc cos it eats more power then a tablet naturally. So i downloaded uTorrent to the tablet and it wouldnt let me download, it thinks a little and then says that the files are not found. I've tried 3-4 torrent clients all the same error.
Thinking the client was at fault i downloaded it to my phone (nexus 4) and it worked perfectly, instatnly started downloading.
So my question is that is it the tablets fault that i cannot download? I mean do i have to change some settings or do i have to give up on torrenting on it? If im at it i might also ask that would it hurt the tablet in any was that i torrent on it?
Thanks in advance!
Peace!
Antenora.
Did you change the folder to put the torrent in? It usually tells you when it saids add torrent.
I use Utorrent on my sm-t700 just fine i'd suggest trying a differant network maybe the ports are blocked on the one your trying to use.
Hi
you just can't save torrents into your 64Gb SD unless you are rooted.
anyway it's much better to get torrents on pc. it really drains a lot of battery using lte.
use torrent remote to control torrent client on your pc. works like a champ.

I realise the kitkat SD restrictions, however uTorrent claims to have overcome this - however like the OP I am unable to save to the SD
Appreciate you trying to be power conscious, but your PC does not have a battery that will die in a few years and be a pain in the behind to replace. Your PC is always plugged in and you're not trying to carry it around with you and have to worry about charging it every night.
Yeah I hate it when I ask a question and instead of getting a solution I get unsolicited advice, but in this case, well it makes sense.

I would imagine that it shortens the battery life, but its always going not like my pc, and truth to be told i only wanted to download some anime and maybe some series like flash to it so that i can watch before going to sleep, cos it would have been easier than downloading then copying it to the tablet, but i guess it'll have to do since i cant download until i root it, and that wont be anytime soon.
Thanks for the reply's everyone have a nice day!
Just wanted to let you guys know that I installed xbmc app on my tablet and enjoying streaming of movies from almost all big torrents like kat.ph, pirate bay etc.. watching all new hollywood movies. We can even keep the files on the tablet after streaming. Ip address is not tracked.
Also connected my tv to tablet using a microusb to hdmi cable and watching saved movies on big tv instead of watching them on xbmc player in app.

I am very glad to contribute. I did a lot of roots and guides through xda.
batery is not only issue when torrenting. I realised it is a pain to send the 64Gb files everytime to pc or nas. as alternative you can plug an external hd drive to easily increase a few Tbs.
