The Xperia Play is an awesome gaming device no doubt about it, I have several emulators including Sega Genesis, Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear. From what I can tell practically every game system up to the ps2 can be emulated. So my first question is.
Is Nintendo Wii Emulation possible on the Xperia Play? And my second.
Is there any chance we can get a Saturn, dreamcast, Sega CD or 32x emulator? Those last 2 are Genesis attachments btw.
Nintendo Wii emulation is still difficult on current DESKTOP computers, what makes you think it'll work on the Play?

This is the latest on the secret Dreamcast emulator, it works but its basically an early alpha.
As for the other ones, they havent been done yet apart from the Sega CD.

Sega Saturn emulator (I think): http://www.explusalpha.com/home/saturn-emu

How can I play Sega CD games??
Related
Hi!
I have been playing a lot of emulators on PC during the years. But is right now thinking of buying an Xperia Play, because I understand that it´s quite a nice phone. It´s on quite a sale in scandinavia right now, so I might be getting one during the week.
I would however like some input for some questions, and would be thankful if someone would take their time to answer them for me.
1. I have problems finding a reliable compatibility list for PSX-gaming. Three of the games that I really itch to play are "Alundra", "Final Fantasy Tactics" and "Legend of Mana". Can someone please enlighten me how these games will run on a Xperia Play?
2. I also have a question about other emulators. Will SNES & Genesis-emulators run lag-free on an Xperia Play?
Thank you for reading (and maybe answering) .
The Xperia Play is really awesome for playing games in emulators. The only problem is that most of them don't support the touchpad.
These are the emulators I've tried:
NESoid
SNESoid - completely lag-free, to answer your question
N64oid (sometimes a bit laggy)
GBCoid - gameboy color emulator
GameBoid - GBA emulator
FPse - PSX emulator
Unfortunately neither of these support the touchpad. And for PSX games I actually prefer FPse to the official PSX emulator that comes with the Play, because, while the official one supports the touchpad (very nicely, might I add), it is a bit buggy with most games that aren't available officially for it.
not sure about genesis as i haven't tried it yet. snes is no problem as is gameboy/advance/colour. on the psx side of things, you could try fpse or psxdroid for emulators. you would need the roms for those games you want as well as the bios file. or, you could also convert the roms of those games to work via the play's playstation pocket app. the pre-installed crash bandicoot game will give you an idea of how smooth it is once converted using the psxperia tool.
This is a magnificent device for emulators. Nuff said
sent from my Xperia PLAY using XDA Premium
I have emulators for Yongzhi's emulators for:
-Gameboid - GamBoy Advance
-SNEWSoid - Super Nintendo
-Gensoid - Genesis
-FPse - PSX
-N64oid - N64
And they all work flawlessly and are availble at the SlideMe market for FREE except for the N64 and PSX emulators. The PSX emulator is avaible on the Android Market and works on a lot of games but of course not all of them. I would suggest you visit the FSpe forum to find out which specific games work for the Play.
The N64 emulator is available from the SlideMe market for I think 2 bucks. I works okay with some games but is still be updated. Also u can try the open source one but I forget what it's called. I think it's on the XDA forum somewhere.
Ive been searching for a good while on Google Play, Google Code, and sourceforge.net for emulators that fully support my SEMC Xperia PLAY touchpad, and found a small handful. Of that, only mupen64plus AE suited my needs. I dont have a computer at the moment, so PSXperia wont be an option at the moment. I mainly want psone, flash games, gameboy advance, and snes, as my n64 part is solved If there arent any, will the update to GameKeyboard have me covered?
As far as I know - mupen64 is the only emulator supporting the analog sticks.
Drop that as a must have, and there are emulators for PS1/SNES/NES/GBA/GBC/DOS and so on which support the play just fine.
GameKeyboard is to change Game buttons. for example, change on screen controls to the physical Touchpad
psx emu?
could you lead me to a psx emulator with touchpad. support, other than psxperia? I've already found ones for the other consoles I wanted to emulate. should I just keep my eye on fpse for now?
Just would like some ideas of which the best emus are for play ics. What works best with game pad, touch pads, frame rate.
Name each emu and for what system
GBA.emu - GBA
NES.emu - NES
FPSe - PSX
Snes9x EX - SNES
These are what I used on ICS, and they worked fine.

These are actually all the ones I use as well.
awesome thanks, I'll give those a go
I've found a way to play all our retro favourites from the Sega mega drive/genesis and Nintendo SNES era on our android phones.....
first you need "DroidEmu" from the play store, then you need to visit "emuparadise" http://www.emuparadise.me/ and download your game of choice. The games are downloaded in Zip format so they'll need to be extracted before DroidEmu will open them, but most of the files are sub 1mb, so won't take too long to download and extract. DroidEmu may ask you to allow download of extra files in order to play the game.....so far as I can tell, this is to be expected, and should be allowed..........enjoy
Edit......As well as playing Mega drive/Genesis and Nintendo SNES games, DroidEmu will also play games from NES, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Colour and Gamegear consoles.... and as far as I can tell, the extra downloads I mentioned earlier, are "plugins" that allow this app to play games from all the above mentioned diverse consoles.....

Honestly these emulators are better because they aren't meant to do the whole "all in one" and do what they are designed to do.
GBA - My Boy
GBC - GBCoid
SNES - SNESoid
PSX - FPSE
N64 - N64oid
NDS - NDS4droid
PSP - PPSSPP
Dreamcast - NullDC

Normal .iso and .cso files should be able to run and also .pbp which is uses with the PSP's inbuilt PSX emulator. Maybe you got one which is .ccd which cannot run on FPse or any PSX emulator to be honest.

Have you downloaded any of the N64 game to try yet because they work on my phone no problem even when zipped.
I think this thread should be in the "Apps & Themes" forum.

Its more of a discussion about android emus rather than sharing a new app for the phone but whatever my participation goes only as far as suggestions and troubleshooting.
The PSX emulator FPSE is great! Now, I play YugiOh! Forbidden Memories. Such an ancient game! lol
Is Retroarch the best overall emulator for older games on android, or is it better to get individual emulators, and if so, which ones? Preferably Snes, NES, Gensis/Mega Drive, etc...
Thanks for any info.

Yep. Best emulator.
I've tried a few stand alone from the Play Store, and also independant ones no longer supported.
Here's my favorites so far:
Sega Genesis: MD.emu
SNES: SuperGNES
NES: Nostalgia.NES
