Okay so I've been thinking long and hard on whether to get the Nexus or not. I've heard alot of good and bad things about this phone. But I'm thinking about getting it to use with a GoPhone plan since it will be cheaper than a contract. Now the questions
1. What issues am I going to have that is common between most and what are the fixes if so>
2. Since the IMEI numbers aren't in AT&T's database will it let me us the unlimited internet plan without buying the smartphone one?
3. A few people give me a quick run down of what your experiances with the phone were and if you'd buy it again if you came across it knowing what you know now?
Thanks for the answers
1. here are some few things:
-purple tint on screen (can be fixed by adjusting multiplier)
-screen bending
-signal drop (should be fixed after JB)
-bad battery life (get extended)
-bad camera
2. I dunno, since I live in Canada
3. Phone hardware is nothing to be amazed about, but the ease of hack, a lot of development, and Google OTA is what makes this device best for me If I were to buy a mid-to-high range phone right now, definitely either Gnex or the next Nexus
i've had no issues so far, owned for about 6 months. IMEI numbers are no problem even if not sold by carrier. if my phone broke, i would definitely buy the same one again for sure. unless of course the next nexus phone came out.
I love my Galaxy Nexus
#1: The only problem I've had on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus is that it is very picky about which chargers are used. I have more than ten models of 1A USB chargers (more than 20 1A chargers in total) and a box full of USB cables and the phone will only charge with three models of them. If I shut the phone completely off, it'll charge with all of them. If you're the type to have a few cheapy USB chargers, you might find some disappointment there. I recommend that you stick with the provided Samsung charger or get a _good_ charger, like Adafruit's 5.25V 1A USB charger (http://adafruit.com/products/501) which is my personal favorite for all 1A needs. Oh, and Sprint shipped their Gnex users a free extended battery and that has been wonderful. I'd recommend getting the extended battery as the phone does use a good amount of battery power driving the big screen. If you don't use the screen all that much, your battery will be fine; if you use the screen a lot (4+ hours per day) you'll want the extended battery. Everything else with the phone has been sunshine and butterflies.
#2: I have no idea about this as I'm not an AT&T customer.
#3: I think I really already answered this with #1. Be sure that you root and ROM this phone. If you don't intend to root _and_ you don't care about having a stock experience, I'd recommend the Galaxy SIII instead. But if you either want the stock Android experience or want to very easily and comfortably root and ROM this phone, go with the Gnex.
Sidenote: If you can wait until the next Nexus phone is released, which I would expect to be within just a few months. If you can survive with what you have now, just hold out a few months and buy the next Nexus. Or see if you can find one a bit cheaper via eBay or the like. That's how I went with the Nexus S for cheap and it allowed me to hop over to the Galaxy Nexus when it came out without contracts or big money spent.

So I just purchased this power pack: Amazon Link
Price: $19.99
I've tried it all, from carrying spare batteries to the power packs that you plug directly into your micro-USB on your phone. And I think eventually I found exactly what I needed. And for cheap too.
This thing is listed at 5000mAH...dont know how accurate it is, but compared to the other ones listed on the market (name brand ones are around $50-60), I don't really care if it was like 4000mAH.
If you're on airplanes / trips alot, let me tell you that this is ALOT more convenient than carrying around a spare battery, waiting for your phone to die, and then turning it off, taking off the case and swapping it out. And you don't have to worry about getting a third party battery that holds a crappy charge, you get to use your OEM battery for everything. Not only that, but this thing comes with TWO USB ports, so you can charge yours and a friends. Even if they have an iphone or something.
It's the only thing that ensures you can keep using your devices for hours and hours without having to worry about running out or having to stop what you're doing to make a battery swap or something.
Good find. I will be ordering one n trying it out. Thanks!!
I bought one of those probably a year ago just thinking it would be a handy thing to have & I've never used it once LOL
be sure to check out the new trent offerings. Absolutely excellent.

haha yeah like i said it depends on your situation. I always wanted something like this but couldn't justify spending $60 dollars. But considering spare batteries are $10. And you're getting enough juice to charge your phone 2.5 times over, i think a $20 price point sounds amazing. Even if you will only use it 3 times a year when you travel.
...its kind of like the tablet dilemma most people have. Most people don't use tablets enough to justify $500. But make a $200 tablet (hello nexus), and all of a sudden you wouldn't mind having it even if it sits on your end table most of the time and you have it when you want it.
I have had a few faulty phones Galaxy S3's from o2 (Long story) and as a result they have offered me a Galaxy Note II, But its refurbished
Now they are sending me just the phone and battery and i send them back my faulty S3. So it means im stuck with the S3 charger, So will it fit and work ok ? (Maybe a noob question sorry)
Also it now means I don't have a box or accessories, I always keep my box for phones in case i want to sell after contract, so Im a bit peed off, that i don't have box.
So if anyone has there old box laying around with manual and accessories, I would be interested or if anyone knows where i can get one from
Phone is Titanium Grey, so would need a box for this phone.
The charger from the S3 will work just fine.

Charge will work just fine.
Will take longer to charge than the Note's original one (aprox 3 hrs to a full charge).
It will work, but will take significantly longer to charge, now than twice the time.
Try and get an original note 2 charger, the charging time saved is worth it.

I charge only at night because my battery life is so fantastic. So I don't really care if it takes 3 or 5 hours to charge. I use the original Note 2 charger by my bed.
I use my OLD Galaxy S2 charger sometimes when I just want to top off a little before I go to work or I have a long night ahead or for whatever the reason. But most micro usb chargers will work just fine. The only difference is charging time.
Cheers guys, I might go into O2 and tell them i want a new charger then. Cant see why I should have to pay out when phone was faulty.
Anyone know about getting a note 2 box ? or anyone willing to sell me theirs ?
Its interesting and unacceptable. If they accept to change with note 2 they Need to provide full box. Coz its not your fault.
But at least a profitable swap

Basically they are telling me, they are doing me a favour. They have given me the option to swap to the Note 2 due to 2 phones being faulty. Touchwiz stopped working on 1st phone and wouldnt respond, then 2nd phone they sent out, kept freezing and screen was going all weird.
They say they can only send me a refurbished unit, this comes with just battery and no charger or box. They said charger will work from S3 model.
I explained how i like to keep everything for phone, so i can sell it on after contract. But they just said, I would get same amount for phone regardless of if it had box or not lol.
Might go into store today and see what they say, hopefully they might be able to help me out, But if anyone on here wishes to sell me there old grey note 2 box please contact me
The note 2 Congress with a 2amp charger While s3 with a 1amp charger. I would ask them to get u a note 2 2 amp charger.

This sounds rather odd to me. Here in the Netherlands many stolen phones are sold, just the phone, without original charger or headphones. A box often functions as a proof of purchase. So I would not sell you mine.
You can get the original charger from eBay.

How is it odd ? have you checked ebay and seen note boxes for sale? there are a few but no note 2 boxes. Also there are loads of Samsung galaxy S3 boxes on ebay, and i dare say i will put my old box on ebay too, minus any info about IME number.
If on contract box is not proof of purchase, even if you have insurance with O2 they only ever send you a replacement phone and battery (refurbished not new)
$100 only. Sir.
+1..iam also ready to sell for 100 $...
Why do you need a box. ..we all pay full price in India here. .no subsidies. ..we have no problem needing the box. .. original bill recipient is enough for warranty issues

Well..did some research about 7 months ago or so, got two of these phones. One for the GF and one fore me, shortly after the rom output slowed down but there were already a few good options so it worked out well in the end. But I thought I was getting a better phone than I did. Recently my phone has decided it does not like to charge anymore, but intermittently will charge. I had it plugged in all night last night, charged 8% at some point. Most of the time, it wont' detect the charge cable is plugged in..PC shows an error when trying to install drivers. I have tried a new battery, without Sim card, cleared data and all caches and tried a Rootbox which it's had from the day I got it and the newer CM 10.1 r2..no change.
So I am calling this phone junk unless someone has any suggestions. I am kind of SoL financially and really don't have more than $150 to spend, maaaaybe $200 if the phone is going to be substantially more durable. I'll miss the screen, power and camera on the Glide I know..but it is what it is..I'll save it as a parts donor for her phone. I am on Straight Talk which recently went Verizon towers in my area as well and seems that's also the trend for the phones they're selling in my area so it seems maybe I'm more limited to their selection as well? Anyways, need a new phone and have a tight budget..can you please give me some suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Have you tried a different Rom, cable, battery or usb port? In my experience, a new cable and battery did the trick, also tightening up the tension ears on my usb ports.

Sad to have to say but that'll be your charging port failing. Tends to happen seemingly easier with micro usb since it's so much smaller... but I have seen this same issue happen with micro usb ports on a number of devices. You could probably get it repaired for a reasonable cost, actually. Try contacting your service provider, or finding a place that repairs electronics.
First things first, here is the Amazon link (currently $20, which is half off) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073TS2GYP
So if you've never heard of CHOETECH, they are a company that makes inexpensive phone accessories (or at least they were, they've branched out a bit lately). I wanted to bring up their latest Wireless charger, it takes their original model and added fan ventilation to it to prevent overheating. At first glance, this doesn't look like it could possibly work. There is no fan noise to speak of plus I can't really feel air flowing through it. But After leaving my phone running Pokemon Go for hours and then picking it up the excessive heat on my Galaxy S8+ was absent. I use this as a benchmark because with CHOETECH's older model my phone would overheat and ask to be removed from the charger after running the game for so long (hey, don't judge!). Don't get me wrong this thing doesn't work miracles, my phone was still warm but it was way, way cooler than it had been on any other wireless charger, much less a fast one. So if you're in the market for one you can't go wrong with this.
Sorry for the lack of pictures, I recently moved and I'm missing my backup phone but if they are really wanted I guess I can figure something out. Let me know if there are any questions.
Hi are there any decent apps that measure real battery performance and capacity to see how used a battery is? My device is 2 years old and until Samsung release the note 21 I certainly won't be downgrading to the zfold3 - in fact their reluctance to produce a new note over these silly fragile folding things I may even jump to Pixel 6 Pro when released soon.
However in the meantime I can no longer make a full day so probably worth getting a new battery. I had popped into the regional samsung centre to see if they would do it but had to wait 2 weeks - still crap service from Samsung!
Can any of the local repair shops safely replace these with a decent battery? I'm inclined to avoid these tbh!!! Dont want another note 7 incident lol
safest bet, to my mind, is getting it directly from S
Get it replaced now.
They're pretty easy to do.
If it fails and swells it can damaged the display or worse.
You'll want the OEM seal to seal it properly.
Mine is also almost 2 years old and I have no problems with the battery life
