Before you get started, you should know that the Root Image is 500+ MB so be warned if you're on mobile data. Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687. Under "Wind Image" you select download. You will need to grab the file named "root66_GLW_T99VVLALE6 .7z"
You will also need to go to this thread and download the drivers and Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728605
Transfer all these files to your laptop and start by installing the drivers. Then follow the instructions in the thread with the root image

[Q] how to root Sprint Galaxy 4g

I wanted to know what is the easiest way to root Sprint Galaxy 4G. I've tried the Super One Click Root App and it keeps getting hung up on waiting for device. I read that i had to download drivers, and i had a question about that. Is it referring to the device drivers for the phone once i plug it into the computer, or is there some other special drivers i have to download. I rooted my Eris, and want to root my friends Galaxy 4G, but it's not the same method. Also how do you get into recovery on the Galaxy 4G.
Please let me know the easiest way to root. He doesn't want a custom rom, just the root.
First stop is to the Wiki page. Then read a guide or two. Also utilize the search feature in threads and the advanced search for more broad searching.
You need the Samsung drivers for the phone. They can be found in the guides or directly off Samsung's website.
I've done that. I installed drivers. I followed step by step for the "super one click app" and it gets hung up on waiting for device. All the other methods sound confusing. One says to install drivers than it states to run "run.bat"! I don't even know where this is or anything.
The run bat is in the folder where you extracted everything, its a windows batch file i believe. Also if you are having issues with the computer seeing your phone try using different ports or even a different cable.

Root SGH-I757

Anyway to root Bell Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE???
I cannot find anything on google or in this forums.
Thanks!!!
yea me either ive been searching for a couple weeks now.... it sucks
Rooting i757M
Am also still looking how to root this thing. The Skyrocket HD is merely the same phone, branded on AT&T carrier and this article made it clear that the phone has been silently put to the side, in favor of the coming S3. (phonesreview.co.uk/2012/05/10/samsung-galaxy-s3-buries-att-sii-skyrocket-hd).
That is, even on samsung online personal profile page, you can even find the SGH-i757M in the list of phone version, to add in your owner's page.
If anyone of you manage to root the phone, thanks to let me know.
Correction: The SGH-i757M can be found in the BAR model section on Samsung profile page and not under Smartphone. Hmm... weird categorization. Are those bar phones not smartphones? Oh, they are mini tablets.
Here is one.
Do you have any procedure to use that files? I just don't want to brick my phone
There's no any special procedure other than flash it with Odin
There're many tutorials about it here and there like that for example.

Has this been tested and confirmed to work? I don't have the device yet but this may make my decision to buy one.
dsixda, well, all I can say is that I flashed it personally (into E120L though) and it worked (including root).

Hey that is great news. I wonder if the CWM for the E120L is compatible then?
I wonder if this works to root the device, as I've read it worked for the Asian versions of the GS2 HD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
dsixda, I guess it won't be too hard for you to check that as you're recognized developer
You can download the stock I757M firmware with the CheckFus using advanced tab (or using cli only version) with the following data:
Model: SGH-I757M
Product code: SGH-I757ZKMBMC
HIDSWVER: I757MUGLCA/I757MOYCLCA/I757MUGLCA/I757MUGLCA
Yes, I'll try all that as soon as I get my device Always nice to have the stock Odin firmware so that I don't need to dump everything beforehand in case something goes wrong.
Thank you again
Just FYI, the stock firmware is now available at sammobile.com. Grab an account and search for SGH-I757M. The download is much faster than using CheckFus.
Dsixda! So happy your getting this Device, I also want to say thank-you for your Kitchen you created!! Amasing work. Used it all the time with my Evo 3d.
Just got the Samsung Galaxy s2 hd lte with the Bell network, Do you have any plans to incorporate this into your Kitchen??
Also is there any easy Root anyone knows of yet that doesn't involve Odin? Like superoneclick...etc

Try the Zergrush method which I linked in the previous page.
I haven't decided 100% whether to get it, as I still love my original S2. But if I get it I will incorporate it into the kitchen, once we figure out the custom recovery method.
I'm assuming any of the Tengrak GS2 HD recovery images (Odin .tar) will work, as long as you don't flash the associated Tegrak kernel for the ES120L/S/K?
You can always flash the stock firmware above in case you mess up.
Tried the Zergrush method, I had no luck. Oh well no big deal for now

Or flash the first link provided by rxulan in page 1. It's the stock ROM but the system.img has superuser injected in it.
And/or Google for the Tegrak custom recovery in Xda. Just flash one of those recovery.tar meant for the HD, but not the kernel.
ODIN ?

ODIN does not recognise .img or .ext4 files. I understand those are recovery files that CWD can restore but your device should already have been rooted. This is exactly the purpose of this thread, rooting the device first of all. This have been difficult for us to find the right .md5 files to use in ODIN. The device we're trying to root, SGH-i757M.
@ezechias
Odin doesn't recognize the files inside the rooted tar archive (the one linked on page 1), but you can flash them as a tar.md5, which you already know is a preferred format. There are guides online on how to convert it to tar.md5, you can Google it or I can post it later.
First, try to flash the TAR file as is; if it doesn't work then convert to tar.md5, then flash it.
Anyways, it's strange that nobody wants to be the lab rat to test the rooted TAR or the custom recovery that we have already discussed. We have the emergency stock ROM to fall back on if anything goes wrong. Looks like I'll have to purchase this device soon and try it out myself I already have all the files and stock firmware downloaded and ready to go
ICS for E120 K/L/S has been released.
I'm sure the same will happen with I757M pretty soon

How to return samsung galaxy nexus to stock

I need to know how to completely return the sprint galaxy nexus to stock. I have a mac so I can't use odin, or one of the one-click tools. I ran a mac unroot tool, but I notice that it flashed the verizon rom, radios, etc. So where can I get all the replacement files, and the code lines to return the phone to stock?
thanks
Get your Sprint files lined up and follow any Windows "manual method" guide. Just use Terminal instead of Command Prompt, and put "./" in front of every command.
You'll need ADB and Fastboot for OSX. I've attached them.
Where can I get the files?
If you don't mind, could you or someone link me to the files, and the exact steps I should follow?
Anyone, I could really use the help. I managed to make this worse.

EDIT: Misread. Not sure if what I posted i will work on a Sprint device. Previous comments deleted.
EDIT2: OK, I haven't attempted this myself (obviously), as I don't have a Sprint device, but you can try this:
Follow the instructions here (and look at post #58 as well for MacOS-specific instructions) EXCEPT, instead of downloading the yakju/takju/mysid stock file, download the .tar file from here.
Thank a lot...I finally figured it out, thanks in part to the links you gave me.

[Q] Questions about rooting with my Mac.

Hello, I have searched and read for days without an answer to this. I am a long time iPhone user, and jailbreaker/dev, who has just jumped ship over to Android. I have the US AT&T Galaxy S3. I am attempting to root it using a Mac. I have read the guides, and watched the videos from appdr0id, however, it is not working for me. When I use heimdall I get an error that it failed to initialise. I am guessing, from what I read, that it may have to do with missing Samsung USB drivers for my Mac, but I can't find them anywhere to download. Also, I would like more info about whether or not I need to place any files into the phones file system before flashing, which files, and where, as this has made no difference. I have heard great things about Cyanogen Mod, and would love to try it, but I am open to suggestions as to what to use post-root. Will someone please give some directions for rooting and flashing using my Mac, or some more detailed guides?
Here is a screenshot of the error.
Heimdal doesn't work on the US sgs3. Easiest way is either Bootcamp or a vm.

Wow, thanks. I haven't read that anywhere. I think I will do it with an XP or Win7 vm, then. Now I have to search for a Windows how-to guide. Argh!

[Q] Help downgrading my device to kk

I've been reading the forums searching for help downgrading from Lollipop to Kitkat, but I haven't found much. A few threads say that there's some other thread with all the information, but I haven't been able to find it. Any information you can give me would be helpful: things I'll need, steps to take, link to a tutorial, etc.
Thanks!

there are some things i can't fully access from my work computer but i`ll try to help the best i can until someone else pitches in
first thing i recommend doing is setting usb debugging on your phone, you can google how to do that if you haven't already
second is to install your phone drivers on your PC (for me it's typically just plugging in my phone and letting it install)
third download the stock at&t note 4 kitkat firmware which can be found here. just click the link until you find the download option (can't access this further), i've used it to downgrade a couple weeks ago.. if the file is a .rar/.zip/.7zip unzip it, if its a .tar or .md5 you are good to go.
fourth download "odin" you can do a google search for it, i used odin 3.09 and 3.10, generally 3.09 is recommended. odin is what you will use to push firmwares on galaxy devices (and some others)
fifth once all of the above is done, open odin as admin w/ your phone connected to your PC already and you should see a "COM" port thats visible, that means your device is recognized. click the "AP" spot and find the .tar or .md5, once that is done click start and do not mess with any other
options - if you still feel uncomfortable do a google search for a youtube video on downgrading
also downgrading will remove anything on your phone excluding your micro SD card
warning: i know there is another link someone here that has more steps in odin for doing a downgrade so i apologize if the link is that one.. also, once you downgrade your phone will start the OTA back to lollipop at some point, i advise you learn how to freeze the update if you don't know already, myself personally i used greenify but there are other options
lastly, there is a thread with the stock lollipop update you can push to your device using odin as well, if you want to upgrade again & not take the OTA to do so.. hope this helps somewhat and good luck!
You could always take a quick trip to att device service and they will downgrade it for u or even best buy too if your scared to do it manually via odin.
