Describe the "loop" your device is in while unplugged. Also, what was the main problem, other than not being able to enable fastboot, that prompted you to buy a factory cable?

[RESOLVED] Getting Kindle Fire out of "Factory Mode" after factory cable use?
Hey all. My buddies were trying to unbrick a Kindle Fire with a USB cable they soldered using a factory cable (The modified USB cable, like what is sold here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23049902&postcount=254 )
Turns out the kindle was just completely dead never to live again, however we plugged my WORKING Kindle into the cable to test whether or not the cable was working
Well my device turned itself on at that point, and I assume I am in factory mode now.
My device will turn itself on when plugged into any USB charger, and there is no external Orange/Green light when charging when the device is off or in sleep mode.
Any trick to take the device out of factory mode?
[EDIT: Kindle fire utility/adb report status 4000; normal. tried taking it from normal to fastboot mode and back with no luck - electrical issue? ]
It still works fine just a little annoying with these oddities.

The factory cable puts the device in fastboot mode, not "factory" mode necessarily. Getting out of fastboot mode is as simple as changing the bootmode to 4000 which you have already done.
And the device is supposed to turn on when you plug it in.
As for the orange/green LEDs, I've never paid an my attention to when they are supposed to be on except when booting and personally, I couldn't care less. As long as you have normal functioning of the device in all other regards, I wouldn't worry about it.
Alright sounds good! Maybe my device is normal after all

Can you tell me how u fixed the problem.I am having a similar problem after my using the kfu to root the device. It got stuck at <Waiting for device> during the root process. It had been shown online in the ADB status before that.I removed the cable after it got stuck at the <Waiting for device> during the root process. Now it is stuck at the kindle fire logo after turning on..I tried to reconnect the device and run normal bootmode but cant do that as now the adb status shows offline.Waiting to receive any help possible.
I have found in some cases if things haven't gone to far there are two things that will sometimes work. Firstly rerun the driver bat with the device connected sometimes you get lucky. Secondly if standing to long <waiting for device> simply hold the power button till it turns off, then power it back on while connected and it should then detect it to continue the process.
Stuck At Logo, no usb connection, kindle powercycles on/off by itself HELP!
I'm having the same issue, while trying to root my kindle fire is stuck on the logo screen, and it powercycles on/off by itself....if i unplug it it turns off and will not power on. if i plug it into a wall charger it simply stays stuck on the logo screen....power button is green.. any suggestions?

Hi
I also had the same problem when i tried rooting my kindle.. but was able to solve it and root it.. Try following the below steps.. it should help you..you need to have the drivers installed
1) Check the device manager.. do u see USB Composite Device (with yellow exclamation)
2) If you see that uninstall the driver and restart your kindle too.. once your kindle restarts it will come up as Composite device (with yellow exclamation) under other devices
3) Right click this device.. update driver.. Select install from a list or specific location (Advanced).. click next.. select Dont search I will choose the drivers...
4) Click next... select Android ADB interface drivers.. it will show a popup.. accept it and carry on
5) Now if all goes through well ur device is detected..
6) Next step is download the KFU from the forums.. Run the executable.. select option 1..and select normal boot..
7) Your kindle will reboot and start working normally
Try and let me know
Rooted my kindle fire first gen and installed cyanogenmod 10.2. Everything works fine, except for the fact that i cant reboot. Everytime i attempt to reboot i end up in boot loop. The only way i can get it turned on is if i plug it in to my laptop and use this method, Unplug the Kindle Fire from the USB charger cable, press and hold the power button (it should not turn on because the battery has run dry), while still holding the power button, plug the USB charger cable in (it should not turn on yet), wait for at least 40 seconds while still holding the power button, and once the kindle powers on, immediately let go of the power button and pray. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had a fix for this problem. Thanks.
I can not get my wife's fire HD 8.9 to boot. When I turn it on the Kindle Fire screen appears for about 5 seconds, then the Kindle Fire goes out, but the screen is still backlit.
This device is completely stock with no modifications. It did this when I turned it on one day, no previous problems.
I tried holding the power button down for up to 2 min. After I hold the button for 10 seconds the backlight goes out and the kindle is completely off. I tried letting the battery go completely dead, then charging it for several hours with no change. I tried running fastboot, but it is stuck at <waiting for device>. My computer does not see it at all. I do hear the chime that something was plugged into the computer immediately followed by the chime that it was disconnected, but nothing shows up in my computer at all.
Is there any hope for this Kindle, or is it bricked for good?
So I assume you're on windows. That beeb you hear is the fastboot mode you need to load drivers really quickly during that beeb. At that point fastboot shoukd work and you can issue a command to get into the factory restore.
I got it working again.
The problem was simple, I did not have any drivers installed on my computer for the kindle (I have never plugged it into this computer before it would not boot). I found the drivers to download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890413
I was then able to get it into fastboot and recover it with instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126
Ok so really need some help as I’m on the verge of giving up!! I don’t know anything about what you guys are doing!! My kindle fire 8.9 just decided to go ‘red screen’ on me when I turned it on one day. I hadn’t done anything to it to try to mod it or anything- it just turned on and went straight to the red screen and that’s all it’s done since. I’ve tried disconnecting the battery for a while and then reconnecting - no joy. I’ve followed tutorials here to try to reset it via fastboot but have got stuck where it says ‘waiting for device’ - I plug it in and turn it on but it doesn’t find it and nothing happens. I don’t know how to get it into fast boot mode any other way and don’t have any other ideas for things to try so any help would be really great or I’m just going to have to chuck it out?.
I got it into fastboot earlier without the special fastboot cable. I had lubutu running on a memory stick. I installed the adb and fastboot stuff. The first time it wouldn't say "waiting on device" or whatever but the second time before installing the adb and fastboot stuff I changed the settings so it was normal releases and unsupported sources or whatever so it'd draw from a bigger pool. Then the waiting on device part showed up. I plugged a normal cable in and was turning it on and off and all that. But what made it go into fastboot mode was having it plugged in then holding power button to turn it off then I pressed and held down the power button and I think it's the volume down button (the one closest to power) then it loaded into fastboot ^_^. I'm gonna try to actually fix it now.
