Problem with MHL / HDMI cable - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hi, I just bought a MHL cable but it doesn't work, let me explain:
after connecting everything needed (phone to the adapter, HDMI from TV to adapter, charger to adapter) the TV shows an error that is missing signal.
When I connect the phone, it turns the screen horizontal, but nothing happens on the TV.
If it could help, I mount the last version of Resurrection Remix Rom...
Maybe, should I do something from the phone to start the video/audio transmission?
Any ideas? Thank you in advance

i know thats in Resurretion Remix have an application called TvOut....
but try to read in mhl manual for the steps to work, but i thing its just plug n play

MHL works only on stock ROMs.

thank you!I found out that the tvout process is not yet supported for the jelly beal versions of resurrection remix but I flashed back the last ICS version (2.6.1 RR) and everything is working now!

Here's my issue with MHL adapter:
It works well if I connects directly to my TV. But the TV sound sucks so I tried to connect to my home theatre system (which has Audio Return channel + 2 hdmi inputs). But what happens is that it's doing connected/disconnected literally every second.
Is there a solution for this?

thank you friend

[Q] HDMI out, why isnt it working for me?

Hey.
I acquired an adapter for the arc s that should enable to me to use the HDMI out.
I use the same cable with my netbook, works like a treat. I unplug the netbook, connect the adapter to the hdmi cable, attach the Arc S and I get.... nothing.
Running stock rom 4.0.2.A.0.42, no custom kernel, its even still bootloader locked (i know, shame )
am I missing something simple like a "use hdmi out" switch, and i am just to blind to find it?
help

I've never used HDMI, but do you have the LiveWare manager installed?
(correct me if I'm totally wrong )
i didnt, do now tho
it only gives me options for headsets/headwear/charger... so ntohing connected with the hdmi out...
and after looking up the demonstrations on youtube it seems really to be plug and play, so .... yeah... at this stage (except if anyone can point me somewhere else) i must suspect the adapter for the cable by process of elimination. F***
/goes off to buy a new one next pay check
cheers

I got a cable with my arc s and it works no problem. Just plug it into tv then into the phone and it automatically switches to the channel. Of connect to phone first I have to manually select the hdmi channel

[Q] MHL WiFi

Hello,
I purchased a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and connected them to my google galaxy nexus with aokp_maguro_build-27 with kernel 18.6 fransco.
I have my MHL adaptor plugging into my TV via the HDMI cable. I have my WiFi on trying to stream youtube or browse the web, but it seems the signal strengh of my wifi router has dramatically dropped as soon as the MHL device is plugged in.
Maybe all the power is being concentrated in projecting the image out the phone to the MHL adpator and not leaving enough for the wifi to operate properly.
Does anybody have an idea on whats happening?
What your thinking makes sense. Have you tried leaving the phone in the same place, but unplugging the adapter? Try to eliminate interference from the tv. Try this:
- Start everything a you described to replicate the issue.
- Just turn off the TV and test your wifi
- Just unplug the TV side and test your wifi
- Unplug you're phone side and test
- Move the phone away from the TV and toast
- etc etc

Same Problem here.
Seems as if wlan won`t work while MHL connected. At least not with AOKP. Itried different Kernels with AOKP. No change.

hdmi not working

I just bought a hdmi cable to the phone, but unfortunately when I connect the phone to my TV, the HDMI icon appears and then disappears, reappears, this happens all the time and I have no video. Has anyone had a similar problem?
I have the stock firmware

That sounds like the cable or the port are faulty, resulting in losing connection.
Have you tried another cable?
No, will try it tomorrow.
Thanks for the clue

Should work
Hi Buddy,
Try this
1> Back up all your data (Contacts,Apps,Data)
2> Connect to sony PC Companion
3> Check for update
4> Repair
I followed the same steps and HDMI worked well.

OTG cable question

This seemed like an accessories question, so i decided to put it here. Has anyone with an OTG cable tried to use a 360 controller with an emulator? That would be awesome. If someone could try, or if someone HAS tried and know if it works or not could let me know that would be awesome.
I doubt VERY highly that it will work, but I have all the stuff to try it so I will report back in around 10 minutes haha.

Well in theory it should work because anything thats HID Usb should be supported by otg. Here hopin! haha
For some reason I can't even get my mouse/keyboard to work right now (it has worked before) and unfortunately I'm down to about 5% battery. I'll do further investigation tomorrow.
While you're right that theoretically any USB device can work, you still need the right drivers. The problem is that Android uses a monolithic kernel instead of the standard Linux microkernel. That means you can't simple load the right module when you need it. If you want to use the wireless receiver you'll have to compile your own kernel with the xboxdrv module built in.

Nope no wireless reciver. Just the plain old xbox 360 controller, with the usb. Why would I go a round about way of using the wireless receiver instead of just the controller?

I haven't tried it on my kindle fire, but I have tried it on my xoom. Works fine. I will give it a shot in a few hours when work slows down, but I dont' see why it wouldn't work, so long as the emulator supports gamepads, and the rom/kernel does the usb host stuff.
update: Nope. controller never lights up, looks like it isn't even there. this was using the motorola OTG cable, aokp rom with the 3.0 kernel.

I didn't on my xoom, and it recognized it, so I didn't think to use one with the fire. I don't have a powered usb hub, so I can't be of any more help.

Help , need to get OTG and MHL working simultaneously !

Hi guys,
My galaxy nexus screen has been cracked and it does not respond in 75% of the screen.
I bought a MHL to HDMI convertor on amazon and luckily got the phone UI to show up on my TV
Now since the touchscreen won't work , I need to connect a keyboard or mouse via USB OTG and use it for navigation.
Problem is the Galaxy Nexus has only a single microUSB/MHL port combined into one.
I have no idea how to split the output from the phone to connect to a USB OTG cable and MHL to HDMI adapter simultaneously !
Any help will be appreciated,
The phone is not rooted AFAIK , but may be I'm not sure. It was running Android 4.1 JellyBean when I dropped it on the floor
The phone does show up on my Windows PC and I have copied the photos off it. But I still want to copy contacts and SMS messages.
You tried just using something like Android Screencast from the PC (USB debugging is needed)
Also, some MHL adapters have a USB port in them, for power. Have you tried getting a crude micro USB splitter? Like this one? http://www.replacebase.co.uk/micro-usb-female-to-2-x-micro-usb-male-splitter-2392-p.asp#.URk59JGYOBs
Not guaranteed that would work though. Also, a quick google of what you want brings up some others with the same issue, have you tried to see if any of them have succeeded?

Good news
I had a spare galaxy nexus in the office and I gently took the screws of both the devices , and just swapped the displays so that I could quickly turn on usb debugging , backup essential stuff and also turn on bluetooth.
Thanks to some assembly videos on youtube ! will share some pics soon
