[Q] Read CPU frequency without root - HTC One X

Hello!
Is there any way of reading which of the cores are active and the frequency they're currently running at on the stock rom, without root acces? I tried cat-ing /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq but I get 'Permission Denied'. Is there a tegra-specific way of finding out, or is root required?
Thank you!

There's an app called Cpu Spy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5idmFsb3Nlay5jcHVzcHkiXQ..
But you just can see the frequency they're running at in percent. And also look in the developer options und systemsettings for show cpu activity or something like that...
(If this helps you please hit the thanks button because I would like to get access to de dev-section )

I am not looking for an app that can do this, there are plenty on the market. I am interested in the actual way in which I can read the information directly from the system, to use it in an app of my own.

Use a file explorer. Es file explorer works for me.

I have tried with multiple file managers and text editors, they all say there's an error opening the file.

I just tried with solid explorer beta 2 and was able to read it. Mine is rooted though.
Can it be a permissions issue? File permission is read for owner only.

Yes, I am pretty sure it's a permission issue and you can read it with root. Did you grant Solid Explorer SuperUser permission or did you notice the pop-ul when you tried opening the file? If you did, it means it tried without root but failed, then used root.

Just edited my post. File has read permission for root only.

[Q] Reboot Sound

Hello,
After the recent update: Sense 3.0, android 2.3.5, everytime I reboot my mobile it makes alot of sound, how do I turn this off?
I can't find any option to stop the sound even though my 'soundprofile' is on vibrate..
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Normally my phone only vibrated when I rebooted, now it first vibrates, then it makes a startup-sound.
I am sure it has to do something with the new update, since it never was there..

Change superuser apps to SuperSU and use it's temp unroot feature. Also if you do so make sure you update SuperSU's binary's before you delete superuser

You need to make sure that you have the latest busy box installed. For me, root didn't work properly until I did that. It really is a great file explorer for the nexus, being that our screen is large and I love the drag and drop.

I can't get root access files with this file manager so its fairly useless but it looks pretty I guess just not practical, went back to root explorer an es file explorer an yes I have latest busybox as most root apps need it :screwy:
Best looking file explorer app, but depending on the ROM I'm running I can't get root access because the ROM is using a custom busybox. This is the only app I ever have this issue with unfortunately.

Root access works for me now, click jump tab at bottom of app screen, then device then system root, then try open a folder in root location an the app should ask for root permission from super su or superuser

Yep, I know how to get the SU dialog to pop up, but another message saying Busybox needed to be updated would always come up as well, depending on the ROM I was on at the time. Just letting others know.

Thanks. I'll give it another try.
Edit: Yeh, this thing is the shizz. If I don't run into any root issues I think I'll keep it.
Edit 2: Spoke too soon. It FC'd while doing a moderately large move of about 90 small files. Sure is pretty but I need something I can depend on. Back to homely old Total Commander...

Im glad you enjoy it. I use this an root explorer at the same time to easy up my transition. Maybe that's why i haven't seen certain things. For root stuff, i use root explorer and for basic stuff, i Use Solid. Gotta say that the UI is incredibly nice. but remember guys and gals, its still in beta form. hit the dev and "telem!"

Has anyone tried this on their N7 yet? The features are said to include Multiuser support, if this can work with secondary users it would be great.

[Q] Permissions management & protection

Hi
I've tried and looked for several apps to manage the app permissions: LBESM, Pdroid, XPrivacy and so on...
Some apps don't work correctly and others aren't compatible with AOSP 4.2.2.
I'd like to have your point of view to have trust app to manager the permissions and if possible (or another app) to identify possible malwares.
Atm the better one for Permissions mangement is "Permissions Management" available in my Rom and BitDefender Mobile Security for malwares.
Thanks.
PS: I know that several topics already deal with this subject but I'd like to discuss with fresh information and compatible (AOSP 4.2.2 + Note II).
I would recommend you to use ROM toolbox.
it has inbuilt auto start manager which helps you to manage permissions efficiently.
Thanks, I'll have a look soon.
What is the exact option?
Edit
I found it.
Other ideas ?
