Only 2 hours of screen on time? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm using the vzw galaxy nexus and no LTE and I still only get 2 hours of screen on time. I'm using 4.1.1 stock ROM and Franco 228 jb kernel. 1300 max 700 min. I also have the extended battery. What a am I doing wrong?

You can try turning screen brightness down, check your apps and see which are battery consuming, turn off any auto syncing, unless you play intensive games you can scale back the CPU. That may help some.

This is average battery life on the galaxy nexus. Check to make sure your not synchronizing your email or social networks to often. Also pay attention to your data connection. If it is poor your device will be constantly seeking for a signal.

Set the clocks back to stock. I find Franco kernel to be smoother on the 1228 max speed. Set the min to 384.

Really depends on what you do with the phone and how high brightness you have set. You can get more than 2 hours from it. You should be able to anyway.
My screen has been on for 2h3m as I type this. 23h14m since last charge and I have 39% battery left now. I think about screen brightness though and adjust it manually all the time when needed. Also screen-off at 307Mhz and max at 1Ghz.

That is not average.
He has to have rogue apps running, bad signals, too much stuff pushing, etc.

I am getting 3 hours of screen time with 14 hours of battery on 1344-384-alpha56 kernel.
max 1344 min 384 governor interactive brightness auto
It is great for me like this...

You can maximize screen time on WiFi. Mobile data drains in the background, making your screen time appear "substandard".

If you all noticed that he has 700mhz as min so it's normally to drain fast.
Lower the cpu to min 350mhz and use lux auto brightness from play store to control the brightness.

I've gotten two days of standby life WITH 2 hours of screen on time.
So if you're only getting two hours screen on, you should be going at least a day or beyond on standby.
Otherwise, I can pull 3 to 4 1/2 hours screen on, I used to pull consistently 4 hours+ but whatever is new in the kernels or ROMs is stopping it.

I get the same thing . Why is galaxy nexus battery so terrible ? I upgraded for better battery life not worse
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Rarely get more then 2 hours screen on time. Lately it's been much less. Screen brightness is a big factor, if you make your screen really dim you can brag about long screen times.

Hows your signal during the day look at your battery graph it its mostly yellow or worse red. That would be a drain too

I'm with this guy. Around 2 hours screen time after 2 days (turned off while i'm sleeping).
I would expect more if you still have to plug it in at the end of the day. What apps are using the most battery? (as seen in the battery section of settings)

Most I have gotten is 3 hrs screen while on WiFi with the extended 2100 mah battery. And that was with no calls or music. I average maybe 2 if I'm lucky. I seem to get a fair amount of drain on 3g no matter the radio. Switched back to the stock 1850 mah battery to see if it treats me any better.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Right now I'm at 2hrs 19min screen time. 13.5hrs on battery. 29% battery remaining. Auto screen brightness. I run mmuzzys toro jb 4.1.1 with stock kernel.

Yea only short period of time i had it off. screen shot. Reason my entire life sucked is cause i was redownloading multiple apps after the switch to stock. But your extended battery should fare well, also, be sure to turn off NFC and the cell broadcast alerts unless you really want them.

Fantastic battery life on 4.2

Battery life is very good compared to the previous releases. I ran for forty minutes with Bluetooth turned on while listening to tune in radio and using endomondo app. Google now turned on. I lost fifteen percent compared to losing 35% with similar usage. Very satisfied.
What do you think?

Ditto. My phone ran like a champ on a freshly flashed ROM. Then my phone realized it was born as a Verizon-Nexus mutt and had a psychological breakdown to the point of 1.75 hours of on-screen time the day after.
Twas a sad day
I'm reading my work email over the exchange service account. After upgrde to 4.2 the exchange service process eats my whole battery so I can't tell about any improvement.

When it comes to battery life (in general, though especially true with this newest release), it's crazy how many divergent opinions you get. Some people claim to get amazing battery life (exactly what quantifies for amazing?) and some people claim the battery life is crap. This is just to remind you that unless you have a good way of measuring battery life, your measurements can be plus/minus hour(s). Someone who just leaves their phone on a black screen with no wi-fi and cell may get 10 hours of screen-on time. Someone who is watching videos with cell/wi-fi might only get 2 hours of screen-on time.
In the future, I can make two recommendations:
Always report a complete cycle (from 100% to close to 0%). This is because the battery does not discharge at a constant rate.
Always report screen on time
Average for GNexus in previous builds was 2-4 hours. I've no idea about the plus/minus, but they tend not to be under 2 and over 4 with moderate usage. I think an average of 3-3.5 hours is what most people are happy to report.
And that is really sad because my old atrix used to get over 8 hours on Wi-Fi with over twelve hours of standby time. I wish they would make this phone but with a smaller screen size. The technology used on this phone is not battery efficient at all.

This tells us nothing....u don't show ur screen on time and uve been charging off and on..
Battery life in sleep mode is worse for me. I am losing 3% an hour with the screen off, I used to lose only 3% total overnight with the screen off not per hour. I tested this over the last 4 hours only waking the tablet up long enough to check the battery level and it has gone down by 3% each time. Nothing has changed with any apps or setting since I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.2. I got concerned when I noticed this morning that my battery was over 15% less then when I went to sleep. Anyone else notice this?

yeah using the 4.2 factory image with trinity a4 and getting great battery life

4-5 hours of battery life.

I don't understand why but my phone is dyeing way too quickly and it's not so responsive (feels sluggish) as I want it to be. I see my friend has his HTC one and it's substantially faster then mine, both of us running all stock (mine is stock Rom but I'm using leankernel 6.8). I downloaded Better Battery Stats and I don't really see anything jumping out yet my phone usually lasts 4-5 hours with about one hour of screen time, sometimes I'm able to squeeze more. I have 90 apps on my phone, everything legit. I feel like it used to be much better before ..
Please advise.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4 Beta
the HTC one is faster. more memory, better processor. so thats a terrible comparison.
4-5hrs of screen on time or just 4-5hrs total?
Is it _THAT_ faster then GNEX? I'm running leankernel, mine is slightly OC to 1.2GHz. It seems like sometimes I could be running one or two apps and my phone would be really slow.
4-5 hours to drain 100% battery completely with about an hour of screen time.

If I was beta testing an app, I would try to have a very small number of installed apps.
AFAIK, the longer the device has to keep a wake lock, the harder it is on the battery.
And 1.2 GHz is stock max speed, not an OC implementation.

This was with mostly browsing or reading ebooks with Wi-Fi on while the screen is on, but Wi-Fi off when the screen is on. I had some weird media server draining my battery while the tablet was idle, so I set it to shut Wi-Fi off while the screen is off.

40 percent is bright. This tablet has a very bright display. At full brightness its 583 nits. For comparison the iPad 4 is 407 and the iPad mini is 378.
40 percent of this devices brightness is about 225 nits. Want better battery. Turn down your brightness. Nothing is wrong with your device.
I mainly use mine for internet & YouTube & yesterday had over 9 hours of screen on time with lowest brightness

There is no such thing as battery recalibration. Get rid of running Google services you don't need and monitor which apps keep the tab awake, kill them too. FB is quite heavy on the system, Chrome too, try lighter alternatives.
My 32 gb is stock rooted atm, but battery life is great. Might even just leave stock alone for a change (although thats doubtful).
Yesterday let the tab sit with screen on while i was working. Almost 6 hours of screen on dropped battery to 50%.
Screen was set to about 1/3 max brightness.

Battery life.

I've got to say, battery life is pretty bad with this phone. I bought it brand new yesterday so not sure if it needs to condition itself or not but I came from a LG G2 which has a 3000mah battery, which is slightly smaller than this but battery life was far better. Granted the screen was slightly smaller but still. Is there any Roms that improve battery life but still relatively stock?

I'm just using the stock ROM, rooted with the Kingo Root app. Installed TWRP and then Faux Kernel (hltetmo-faux123-003u)
Be warned, TWRP did trip the Knox counter to 0x1. I had to install Knox Disabler so it would stop complaining.
I was getting about 24 hours per charge, until remembered about the FauxClock app and enabled the Intelliplug driver and Intellithermal manager. About this time, I also installed Advanced Task Killer after going without it for a few years.
Screen brightness is on auto, WiFi and mobile data are both on constantly. I have not had to make many calls though, so I'm not sure how this may affect battery life...
So far, I haven't noticed any decrease in performance. Right now I've been on battery for 30 hours and I have 45% left.

Because of adjustments... Custom ROM and kernel, Screen is at 35%, gps and all location services off, NFC off, all the phones extras like air gestures multi window etc are off, I use greenify to freeze apps and I have most Google syncs off and I'm only able to achieve this. Edit- I should note I made this post while stock. Because I heard phenomenal things about this phones battery and was quite disappointed.

Because of adjustments... Custom ROM and kernel, Screen is at 35%, gps and all location services off, NFC off, all the phones extras like air gestures multi window etc are off, I use greenify to freeze apps and I have most Google syncs off and I'm only able to achieve this. Signal strength and the binning of your CPU could be differentiating factor. Reading into other people's experience too much can lead to disappointment.

What's your battery life like?

Just wanted to know how other people's battery life is. I got in just over seven hours of screen time today which isn't the best and was wondering if something about my battery was defective or if this was normal. It seemed strange to me because I had my brightness a smidge up from the lowest it can go. Just so that I'm able to get that backlight. So again, what's your battery life like?

5 1/2 hours on screen time, on average. And that's with the brightness almost all the way down, location services turned off, and always listening turned off.
Pretty good to me but I had only about 3 hours screen on time. But it usually last all day and then into the next.

i recently got about 6 hours of screen on with a total of 3 days without charging. i have mine rooted and on slimkat beta 2 4.4.2
That's not bad battery life. I average 8 to 10 hours of screen on time with Wi-Fi on always doing lots of reading but not much video play back and no games to speak of.
This is the best I've ever got out of a single charge.

Rom: Dirty unicorn
Kernel: Stock
Wifi: All the time
Brightness: Auto
With art and kitkat 4.4.2 it is very long
