How come when I wipe and flash the Samsung gallery app doesn't show old screenshots or other folders with pictures in them even though I can still see them in the files app?

Wrong section.
Either post question in Q&A or post the question itself in the thread that provides the apk.

Pretty sure you need a TouchWiz JB ROM for those to work.

No u Dont have to restore the whole rom for that. I'll send u a gallery.apk.
Edit: oh I just seen that u have ICS...sorry I jb. All u need though is to get the camera apk file use root explorer and copy it to system/app folder....delete the note camera. Restart your phone, navigate back to system/app folder and install the camera that you had pasted there.
I don't have ICS camera so can't send to u. Sorry bout that. But once you get a camera just follow that instruc above and you should be good.

Jellybean camera will not work on ICS period! Jellybean camera and gallery is in the same apk. There are not 2 different ones like ICS. Gallery will work but the Camera will never work. Use jellybean camera from the market.

I'd like to use a third party app to do slideshows from my gallery. Unfortunately, I can't find where the gallery is storing the pictures. Any help?

They show up in my gallery repeatedly. They look like malware pictures. I removed all of them once and they came back. So I looked at the details and found the file location. Removed the files. A day later they're back once again.

Some app is putting them there. I know that the Geico app puts silly pics on your phone.
Why is this an acceptable practice? It's like those airpush ads.
I deleted the whole appcache file and it still came back.

Torrents, stop using them on your phone lol.
Do you have any sideload games folders on your memory card? If you do, Gallery will create thumbnail images from those folders. The only way to tell the gallery not to read those folder is you must have .nomedia file in those folders. Good luck.

This might be the closest assumption to whats causing the problem. But its so convient to download torrents straight to my phone lol.

I hope you are at least using wifi
Anyone know how to have pics saved on your phone that won't show up in gallery? I created a new folder and put some pics in there and then the new folder shows up in my gallery and if u delete from gallery it deletes the pics or folder from the phone which is not what I want.

Put a .nomedia file in the folder you don't want gallery to scan.
Or a . in front of the folder name like this: .folder

Question. When u put a (.) in front of the folder name, where does the folder go? It disappeared and i can't find it.

It's stille there but some apps are unable to see it. I use root browser and that's able tot view it. In mxplayer there is a setting to display hidden folders (with a .) so maybe there is also in the app you're using.

Did you delete them from your Picasa album?
Yeah turned off Picasa in google sync disabled the picasa upload app and google+ app and i finally got rid of it by going to settings application then all apps and cleared the gallery app after a couple of times it finally deleted them
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its bullsh*t that you cant delete them like every other picture i had to fully wipe my gallery app in settings and delete everything
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
All I did was go to Picasa and delete the pics I didn't want to keep.
Thats what i did but they was still in my gallery

Actually once you delete them in Picasa they are deleted, at that point you would have resync the device so that it syncs with the app and updates that you deleted the pictures. Then they would dissappear from your gallery.
The reason you could not delete them from the gallery is that those pictures are not actually on your device but on the cloud. They are merely represented in the gallery because you synced it. Once you delete them from Picasa they would have deleted automatically from your gallery once synced.
Have a great day!
