Little question regarding prl - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

If I were to backup my current rom which is the latest CM10 build, then flash to a touchwiz rom and update my prl, would the prl still be updated when I restore my backup of CM10?

I'd suggest ruu then reprovision data services. I believe you can flash the leak without wiping userdata.
Although data settings are in the nv items, it may be a Rom issue.

After flashing the roms, did you go into the settings menu to update your profile? Are you using the default kernels?

Try this: Do you have a nandroid backup of a previous setup in which 3G worked? If so, nandroid back to it and double check. If 3G works, great. Now, if you still want to try one of the Gingersense leaks, download the one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035438 and place it on your SD card. Now go into recovery, wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself and then flash the rom. Hopefully, it'll do well for you.

Rom Help

I created a Rom that started from my Nandroid backup. I had a working GPS and working data when I did my backup. When I flash the rom thru CWM data and gps aren't working.
Anyone have ideas?

That was an issue when I made a stock rooted ROM from a nandroid. Possibly use a rom base and build it yourself other than using a nandroid. Pretty sure none of our current roms are nandroid based.

Thanks Marcus. I will try that.

[Q] How do I go from JB back to fi27 rooted?

Trying to figure out how to go from jb 4.1.1 jro03 to ics fi27. it's not the newest jb leak that just came out. the one from around a month or 2 ago. says my baseband version is ff18. if that means anything.
i'm having data connections in my home town and have to call sprint. when they tell me to dial ##*****# it wont do nothing. when i try to do system updates it calls sprint customer service and nothing happens. so i need to put it back to ics so i can get my data issue fixed. just wanna have the latest version of ics rooted. dont care of factory reset. i have everything backed up
they will wanna disconnect me from the network to fix the issue. they just did it to my wifes e4gt and it worked. i am in north dallas and they are upgrading the towers (data upgrades). i haven't had decent connection since friday when they started.
thanks for any help in advance.

let me get this right before i start.
choose the fi27 rooted option, rom no data, rooted? can i preserve my data going from jb to ics? sorry still a newbie at this.
No if you're downgrading from jb to ics you need to wipe user data. Oh and baseband is your modem btw so you're running ff18 modem it has no connection to what rom you run

It is best to wipe data when downgrading. You can however use titanium backup to make a backup of your user apps, then after wiping and installing FI27 you can then restore your apps and data. I've had no issues doing that. It just doesn't work if you try to restore a JB specific app.

Cannot restore back up trwp / bootloops

I have never had a problem restoring anything, I just backed up a new task ROM, I also backed up a new illusion ROM. I will go to restore from backup and it just boot loops on either 1. Anything prior to these latest releases and backups will restore but 2 separate ROM's with the latest releases will not restore from backup they both stay in boot loop. Totally clueless, I have formatted wiped you name it it will only restore a backup from a ROM o backup on Jan 4th. Only happening newer released backed up ROMs.

Try flashing a different kernel.

Did you change from clockwork mod to Team Win recovery, or visa versa? The two aren't compatible and might cause that.
No same as I always do...I flashed ktoonez kernel 1.10

It really sucks, I restored a back up from 1/4 just fine, but as soon as I download and install the latest update to that Rom day illusion, and save it as a new back up, no go on restore

I'm assuming you're coming from stock rooted TW.
First two things you want to do are:
Upgrade your phone baseband/firmware to MD4. The newer versions of CM10.1 include a check for your bootloader. It must be MD4, so you'll need to make sure you're running that. You can go to Freeza's thread and download the MD4 Update file:
MD4 Firmware:
MD4 Firmware/modem/baseband update
MD5: EEEAFDBE59CF9C5B492B1A591EC92D02

The file name is: Galaxy-S-fre3-MD4FirmwareModemAIO.zip
Upgrade your Recovery to the latest. I only run TWRP, so I can't say anything for CWM, but it's best to use the latest TWRP (v2.5.0.0) for installing CM10.1. Naddict has created update zips for the various recoveries that you can flash from the recovery itself. Also, CNexus has a recovery switcher that works well, too.
Other than that, I always recommend a full wipe before switching between TW and AOSP:
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe /data
Wipe /system
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much.
Yes I'm stock rooted with cwm. And I have md4 already installed.
How stable is Cyanogenmod rc5?

I honestly haven't used CM 10.1 in a while, but typically the Release Candidates (RCs) are pretty rock solid. The best thing to do would be to read the last 10-15 pages of the CM10.1 Thread to see if there are any known bugs with RC5 (and if they're deal breakers for you).
