Can someone please... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can someone please give me a link to the Samsung drivers for 32bit computer. Every damn time I try and install it it won't work. I waited for official jellybean from sprint, I have it and now its time to root. Never had this much of a problem rooting my devices in the past. Hope its just me being stupid

The single hardest thing about rooting your phone is installing the drivers. Once you get past that, the rest is a breeze. The drivers provided in the link above are the best ones I've tried.

Agreed. I never even got the Samsung drivers working. I just ended up using the PDAnet drivers, and I still am. So if the Samsung drivers don't work for you, you may want to go that route.
On a similarly related note, I love Linux for this very reason.

Help please.

Hello all. I'm having the worst time rooting this phone. I have windows XP. I've tried the one click method and tried thru the command prompts. So anyone have any ideas how to do this on XP?
So I'm assuming you're having a driver problem... is the phone recognized properly when you plug it into the computer?
It comes up like its ok

Have you tried using the GNex Toolkit yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
I used this on my replacement device with no problems. Unless this was the one-click method you were using before
Rooting
Have you tried doomlord's easy rooting kit...just hit the runme.bat button,while the phone's hooked up,and that's it

Use the gnex toolkit and follow the instructions carefully. It is the easiest way in my opinion.

Although I recommend the Gnex Toolkit too.
Is your phone still being recognized when you go in to fast boot? I was having driver problems last night and it would recognize when the phone was powered on but not on fast boot. Somebody suggested downloading PDAnet and it fixed my issues

Read the thread in my siggy.
Should get you working drivers...unlocked...rooted...and ready to rumble.

Flashing but "waiting on device"

Using the awesome toolkit but says waiting on device. It is in fast boot mode says "start" on the screen and is plugged into computer. What am I missing ?

Did you install the drivers first?

Use the PDA.net drivers , I had the same issue

Here's a suggestion: forget the toolkit and do whatever it is you want to do yourself. There are guides everywhere. And you will learn something in the process.

Also, ditch the toolkit. -_-

Werd. Those toolkits are largely a very bad idea IMO. It's lowering the bar of entry in to advanced things that shouldn't be lowered. When something goes wrong instead of knowing the proper way to use the android debugging tools, people only know how to click on buttons and get stuck.
There is a reason Google didn't make a gui to do these things... hacking one in is in bad taste IMO.
Once you root manually once you'll realize how few steps there really are. I've been using the toolkit ever since because its quick. Basically all you need to do is just unlock the bootloader. Put the ROM you want on the phone. Flash clockwork through fastboot and then flash the rom from clockwork (or twrp). You don't really have to go to the trouble of rooting the stock ROM if that's what your endgoal is. Its a few pointless extra steps if your just going to flash over it anyways.

Mac user looking to root my SGSIII from ATT

I don't know where to start, I saw a video on how to root with US SGSIII root file but the file is not available, where can I download it and if anyone has used a Mac and can give me some tips I would really appreciate it. I also, checked the wiki and did search but couldn't find anything.
Your going to have a hard time rooting with a mac, no Odin support. Just try a windows computer. There not to hard to find

Thanks a lot, I'll try Bootcamp and see how it goes. Basically I should start with Odin right?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Yes. I believe there us an sgs3 toolkit in developer's section that can root it too. I have not used this method so I can't tell you how well it works

I have not done this to my shiny new s3 yet, but on my Captivate i would just use Heimdal instead if Odin on my mac....just something to look into

So wait - is there no other way at the moment to root a GS3 on a Mac? I usually don't mind experimenting with terminal, but damn that seems involved/risky.

to be honest, the easiest way is to just borrow a pc for the initial rooting using odin. afterwards, you can just use adb on your mac to copy files to and from your phone.
Just install a 30 day trial of Fusion or Parallels, load up Windows and you're on your way.
Just download everything you need onto a flash drive walk into a best buy Walmart or target and do it there. Takes 5 minutes

[Q] Stuck on Froyo Firmware. "No Upgrade Available"

I have an auntie that has a T-Mo Galaxy S2 and when trying to upgrade it says that there is no new upgrade even tho that it is on froyo. Trying to connect it to kies, the program doesn't recognize it. She took it to the T-Mo store and they said that it was a bug in some of the S2's and were unable to do anything. My question now, is it safe to install cwm and flash a jelly bean rom even tho that this bug is present??? Thanks in advance
Sorry for the double post but I'm not sure if it's worth noting, but the front camera is on the right side of the phone as opposed to the left (looking at pictures from the web). Not sure if this is substantial or anything just a quick note.

I'm not sure, but the phone is on froyo. I would provide a screenshot, but I do not have access to the phone right now.
You have to upgrade through kies software on your PC if you're on stock Gingerbread.

The phone is not on gingerbread it is on FROYO. When trying to connect to kies it would not recognize the phone after trying multiple troubleshooting techniques.

Can you post some information about the phone from the settings? Like build number, phone model, etc.? Because the Galaxy S2 never had froyo, so I'm very curious to see what your settings are like.

I would but I am not in possession of the phone right now. But as I said before even t-mobile workers were unable to upgrade. This is why I am looking into if its safe to flash a custom room or even stock jellybean.

Try and take some screenshots or something. Because even the first Galaxy S2 (the I9100) was released with Gingerbread, not Froyo, so this is stumping me right now.

Does it look like that? That's the Galaxy S 4G. Its like a slight revision to the OG Galaxy S. It doesn't have official CM Builds iirc though.
If it doesn't look like that, then she doesn't have a Galaxy S device, just some random Samsung phone

Can't get drivers to install..

This is going to be a long story explaining everything I've done/tried.
Long story short I had a white galaxy s3 that I had rooted using the same method.. Same cord.. Same computer... Everything worked fine there. Decided to trade it for iPhone 5..well that was a mistake so then I got a different galaxy s3 that I use now..
Well I installed the Samsung drivers 1.4.6 and tried them with no luck.. So I thought to myself well cool.. I'll try the updated ones.. Tried them no luck. Restarted computer multiple times.. Uninstalled drivers multiple times.. Restarted phone multiple times.. Tried multiple computers.. Tried multiple cords.. Even Uninstalled the usb drivers and reinstalled them with simply just no luck whatsoever...
I can get the drivers to load when my phones plugged into the computer and I restart the phone but then when it goes to install the drivers it says the device is unplugged which the device is definitely not unplugged..
Any suggestions would be nice.
Thanks!

Uninstall the drivers. Plug in your phone and manually remove and delete the drivers for your phone through device manager. Then reboot and reinstall drivers.
