Want to return to the Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So about a month ago I sold my white Galaxy Nexus to buy a Galaxy S III (t mobile version) I'm considering returning to the Nexus but since I had to cut my sim to a micro size will it still fit in the nexus?
I'm on the $30 unlimited plan btw

I did the same thing this week. I bought 1 of those cheap microsim>fullsim holder/adapters from eBay & everything is fine. Really pleased I sold the s3 now

Can you post or inbox me the link to the one you bought?
Edit: found it. Thanks

i am on T mobile with a micro sim since I have one s. You actually do not need any adapter. All you have to do is put the sim inside the sim slot and line the gold connector up and the phone will work without any issue. The Sim slot is pretty tight and the sim card do not move around in there. The placement of the GNex sim slot i also quit easy to line them up and insert the sim.
I think as long as you do not suddenly drop the phone, the sim should be quite secure in the sim slot,
ps, if you are dumping hte GS3, I can trade your my Nexus, hahahaha

Not every nexus will have the same tightness in the sim card slot..

I chuckle at you people that abandon the Gnex and yet return expecting open arms.
Blasphemy.

Same here. I'm kind of on the fence about selling my Nexus and moving onto a GS3.

While it would work, I'd save myself the hassle and just spend $1 on an adapter so that the SIM can be easily removed and you wouldn't have to worry about it getting out of position.

Just go get a new sim from T-Mobile Shouldn't coat anything

i do agree with you here especially if you swap the sim in and out. Be careful what sim adapter you buy because some of these adapter can potentially misalign the connector. Also hear people have the adapter cause the connector to break or bent. I am actually thinking of getting the adapter as well so I can swap between the phones If you find a good one, let me know.
BTW, if you are going to go back and do not plan to switch to microsim, then yeah prob easiest is to go to TMO store and they should be able to switch it for you for free.

The reason why I sold it was because I thought with the additional 1gb on ram and a fast processor it would be a great device to move to(Gnex had outdated specs). Also another factor was the poor speaker volume on the nexus. Yea yea I know you can improve the gnex sound levels via app tweaks but by far the sound is MUCH louder on the Galaxy S 3. One more thing, on average I used to get around 4mbps down in the Brooklyn NY area since the gnex only had hspa+ 21 but on the galaxy s 3 I get around 6-7mbps since it has hspa+42
Honestly the main reason is lack of quality ROMs and developers in the T-Mobile section(cm10 is buggy as hell). Also I kinda stood out having a white Gnex . Now every other person you see has a white Galaxy S 3.. ughhhh.
And I miss the CRT animation. Currently the Galaxy S3 is incapable of doing the animation because it breaks other functions..
I can go on and on...

Leaving for Galaxy Note!...

Hey guys, so I got an amazing deal that i just can't pass up: int'l note plus $25 for my white tmo gs2. I just have some questions though.
Do you guys think that it is worth it. not the value (i kno its a great deal) btu i'm talking performance.
Will i get 4g or just edge?
Thanks for your help
You'll only get edge until T-Mobile refarms the 1900MHz band. There's a dev called bedwa who is working on unlocking the 1700MHz band. Yes, it has it but Samsung has it locked up. The phone has the same modem as the Galaxy Nexus which is pentaband.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I personally think the phone is a bit too big but not a bad upgrade. I would do it for only $25 but no edge.

If this works out, I'll most likely ditch the Galaxy Nexus. There's plenty of people who'll call foul for wanting to move over to an "inferior" device but I'd love more screen real estate with increased battery life.

If I dont like the note, then I will probably trade it in Craigslist for gnex plus cash. But the note has the exynos chip set at 1.4 ghz while the nexus is ti omap at 1.2 I have used the nexus and found it to be quite laggy and the screen did nit look that much bigger than the gs2 I currently have. Plus the note already has ics roms

The only thing stopping me from getting the note is no 4G on tmobile. Once you're used to 4G, there's no used to going back to 56k aka edge

I've got the same debate going on in my head and it's compounded by my sons (both CompE grads) urging me to get the Nexus 4. I've been enamored with the Note, since the original came out. I'll get the N2 on the 9th and use it for 3-4 days. I'll know at that time, whether it's the right one for me. If not, I'll return it and get the Nexus.
didnt they leave LTE off the nexus 4? That's a dealbreaker for me

I sell phones. I play with both and own a note 2. It's a personal thing, but if you are a power user, which I think you are because you are on XDA then you will LOVE the Note II. Once you use it you can't go back.
* The screen is so much better and brighter than SG3.
* jellybean and 1.6GHz Quad Core processor makes everything buttery smooth
* watching youtube videos are stunning in HD
* extra large screen is great for gaming! especally on emulators.
* Using it as a E-Reader for my Kindle App Books work superbly well as the screen is the size of a small paperback book page

The Nexus 4. The N4 has much better specs than the US S3. Also, if you are going to buy the phone off-contract, the N4 is around half the price of the Galaxy S3.

Yep do this. Is the S4 coming out?.. sorry if it sounds stupid but I read that the Koreans are gonna announce it February and release it on March. Sounds crazy but that's kinda the only reason why I decided not to upgrade to S3.
I would choose S3 over the N4. N4 doesn't have an external storage and the most it has I think is 16gb. I'm using a 34gb card with my S2 and on the S3 I'll be using a 64(I think it's 64?...)gb card on it. Plus N4 had no LTE.. if your sticking with T-Mobile then LTE compatibility shouldn't matter. Screen is smaller.. I dunno there was a bunch of other stuff. Google it.

That would be my number one reason as well. I save all the important stuff from my phone on the micro sd (before it goes on the hard drive) and if the phone dies, my precious data will not.
N4
I think a benefit of the N4 would be the android updates would come first to it since its Google's new flagship phone. The specs are good on both and would work flawlessly.
One of the factors that I would look at is the expandable memory cuz u never know if ur gonna need. Both r good phones but on the n4 I think u well run out of space faster and surprise !! no extra memory. Went through this on my n7 it is nice having the vanilla flaver though.

[Q] Is the Galaxy Nexus a good choice?

Hello guy's! I currently have the G2x but I want to change it because I have a lot of problems with it. I was wondering if the Galaxy Nexus is still a good choice because it is only 280$ (approx.) on swappa and it would fit my budget. I have no problems buying an used device. If the galaxy nexus isn't a good idea, can you guy's recommend me something else?
(PS: Is there a way I can buy a new (in the box) GNex?)
I bounce back and forth between my GNex and HTC One S (cost $300).
I like the Nexus better. Bigger screen, pure android, huge development community, removable battery... However, it is a couple years old. Have you thought about the Nexus 4. Not much more cash and definitely a better phone. I bought one for my wife as a gift. It beats the GNex in all categories and you can get an 8 gig for 300.

If you need SD I would say maybe look for a GS3. I would love an SD slot on my nexus devices but I'm personally willing to give up that feature for the nexus experience. Since I also have a nexus 7 that I use for movies music and more serious gaming my 16GB gsm nexus works fine for me with about 6GBs free.

My main issues:
- terrible battery life: LTE really drains it
- hard to hold on to 4G reception: in many parts of LA, I notice my phone switching to 3G and back, sometimes dropping the data connection completely (this probably is Verizon's fault, though; YMMV in other areas)
- Verizon doesn't update as frequently as GSM carriers
Other than those, it's been great, but the data connection thing really kills me. I'm guessing once LTE is rolled out completely, it shouldn't be an issue anymore. That being said, I think I'm going to jump ship once the next Nexus comes out!

How to distinguish between original and fake Galaxy Nexus

I know someone asked this question once but the answer he got wasn't solid.
Okay so currently I am a MyTouch 4g user, and I plan of going in for a galaxy Nexus. where I live, selling of fake products is what they do best.
So I was wondering if I could get solid methods or ways of checking if the device is original. Like the MyTouch 4g, I opened terminal emulator and check the Emmc chip type since there were just two types, so if the phone had a different one than the two, I could know it was fake.
So pls send in your ideas.
Thanks

There are several Chinese manufactured android phones on the market, and they have the android os on it which support android apps but aren't original.
They normally lack the original features like they may say it 16 gig internal but its actually 30 mb,and all that.

So....
How about doing the opposite, go in to the store and tell them you want to buy a fake galaxy nexus... if they take the bait and show you one then at least you'll know what it looks like, ask them you explain what makes it fake and afterwards ask to see a real one.

I am not saying I have seen a fake galaxy nexus but I have seen a Chinese nexus 1 and a Chinese s3 mini and Chinese galaxy s duos. And they all run android, but they are Chinese , the use android 2.3 and rename it to android 4.0 and the internal memory is really small although u would see 16 gig or 32gig and to top it up it has multi-touch.
