Alright guys, I need your opinions and recommendations. What are your opinions on a case that maintains a small and reasonable form factor while providing great protection, far beyond other cases of a similar size. Basically what case do you think is the perfect compromise of size and durability? I'm sure that a thread like this will help more people than
Please share your opinions, personal experiences, or recommendations, or just anything that you have to offer.
I am in the same boat. Want minimal bulk, minimalist styling and some protection. I'm usually OK with just scratch protection, i.e. those < 1mm thin snap on covers but am willing to go a little thicker
I like the Rock shell cases, the Incipio Feather, and the Spigen Air cases. Something slightly more substantial or even the same would be nice it it wrapped around the top and bottom of the phone as well.
Give this one a try guys - I use this case on my last 3 Android Devices and absolutely LOVE it!

a few cases that I have considered...
I'll start by offering a few cases that I have considered purchasing, and that I can't decide between.
Otterbox Commuter Case:
http://www.otterbox.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Commuter-Series/SAM4-GALAXY-S3,default,pd.html
It seems like this case offers great protection, but I've heard that it has issues with being very slippery, difficult to press buttons, and might be a bit bulkier than cases offering similar protection.
Trident Aegis:
http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-pro...00/aegis-case-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-i9300.aspx
This case seems to offer similar protection to the Otterbox Commuter, but at a size that is easier to hold and fit in your pocket. This might be a keeper...
Incipio Silicrylic DualPro Shine:
http://www.incipio.com/Samsung-Gala...-SHINE-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
I just saw this case today online for the very first time. It looks amazing. It may offer slightly less protection than an Otterbox Commuter, but it looks much more pocketable, and easier to hold. It also looks like it might leave enough room to attach a Spigen Steinheil GLAS screen protector, something that I'm pretty sure can also be done with the Otterbox Commuter.
Spigen Neo Hybrid:
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...g-galaxy-s3-case-neo-hybrid-color-series.html
Everytime I see this case I practically drool over how attractive it is. It looks very easy to hold, and is extremely sleek and sexy looking. Of course, it doesn't offer nearly the amount of protection as the Trident Aegis or Otterbox Commuter, but it might still offer enough protection. Opinions?

I've tried all these cases, and in all honesty - the Seidio Active Case beats them all hands down! No Contest! http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-active-ks-case-holster-black-p/bd2-hk3ssgs3k-bk.htm <--- I highly recommend this !

Would you happen to have any other pictures of that case, preferably with the phone in it? There are only two pictures on the website, can't really see very much of it.

I can try to get some pics- my GS3 is the only camera I've got atm though lol - hard to take a pic of the phone in its case hehe. I'll search my house and see if i cant find my long lost digi camera - no promises there!
I've got the black Active case (no kickstand) and I love it. It doesn't slip, very grippy, still easy to pocket, also has a holster that is actually quite nicely built. The active is a slim case, that still protects the corners, top, and bottom. I've had this case for almost 2 months now and its been awesome. Its easy to remove and put back on. I'm getting ready to buy the Active case with the kickstand soon...
If you just want scratch protection and slim fit goto eBay or amazon and search for mercury. I've switched to my otterbox commuter for a week but came back to my mercury. Otterbox is good for drop protection but I only worry about that if I'm hiking and taking pictures so Ill swItch when I need to.

So, I just realized that the link you provided was to a combo deal for the Active w/kickstand case and a holster. I found the link to just the case without the holster. Many more pictures of the phone + case. Looks great, it just might be the perfect combo.

I love all seidio cases but my absolute favorite will be the surface with holster. Yeah, it won't give you as much protection as the "active" but it adds the protection you need - or looking for.
Now that I mentioned the above, knock on wood***, should i happen to drop my phone let there be nothing wrong
I like the D3o cases that T-Mobile sells. I had a Ringke Slim case but that offered crappy drop protection. I've since bought the D3o case and it seems to offer much better protection while still keeping a similar form factor.

I have finally found my love . The Case-Mate Tough case is hands down my favorite so far. The cases I have tried already, are;
- Body Glove case I bought the same time I picked up the EVO in the Summer, it looked so bad ass Sci/Fi cool in the box, but we all know this case blows, it cracks way too easy, and the plastic feel is not comfortable against face and too slippery, this case sucks.
- Otterbox - Commuter, I thought the quality was pretty good, but it was a very bulky and heavy case, and the back plastic not a good feel for holding the phone, too slick. The kickstand access is too tight, and phone wobbles when using it. Overall not impressed with the Commuter.
- Otterbox - Impact, my Brother has this case, and it feels great in the hand, and looks pretty good too, but can get a little lose around the sides of the phone, and is bulky. But I like this case #2, it feels good, and looks good, just a tad too thick.
- Case-Mate Tough, this is it baby This is easily, the best case of the ones I have tried. I was surprised at the slimness of this case for it being it a 2pc protection case, it is thinner than the Commuter + Impact, and my God the feel of the case is just perfect, I couldn't let go of the phone last night, it just feels so good in the hand, not slippery at all, but not too sticky either, just right. And it looks very professional, and just perfect. And great kickstand access. This case will really protect your phone well, but also look great, feel great, and is not crazy bulky/thick like other protection cases. Highly recommended.
Well based on your review im gonna pick one up since sedio will not rma my active case even though they re designed it, buncha assholes

Reviews, photos, even a video. I've had this case for a couple of months, and it is as good as the OP stated. I also had the Seidio "Active" case, which began to come apart in just a few weeks, and tried the Otterbox "Impact", which is a lint magnet. The Tough Case is a keeper.

Thanks for the link, I forgot to post those official pictures.
The best thing about this case, is the feel. It just fits in the hand so nicely, and just feels great.
Yeah it is one of those "thicker" cases, but with the protection it delivers, it is one of the thinnest of the thick cases, if that makes sense. Meaning the Otterbox and other dual layer heavy duty cases, this is the slimmest in that category.
Now if you want, super model, waif thin, Case-Mate also makes a really pretty case, the "Barely There Case", I plan to buy this too, and just use on the weekends, or when going out to dinner or black tie event

I have one of the "Barely There" cases as well, and you are right ... it is very elegant ... really feels like there isn't a case on at all. It covers the back (especially the camera lens) and all four corners ... and is very nice for those who keep there phone in their pocket.

My first Active case had the outer layer peeling so I RMA'd it and they sent me a replacement one which was much much better than the original one I had, even the silicone part was better. Less prone to picking up dust. Though for the price I probably would've just gotten the Tough case especially since it's only 20 bones on newegg... but I don't believe it was out when I ordered the Seidio one... =T
Having this Tough case most of the week now I am in love Mainly due to the feel in hand, this case has the best materials for holding the phone comfortably, it just sits in your hand perfectly with not being too slippery nor too rubber sticky, it is just right. I can't put the phone down it is too sexy with this case.

Would you say it is worth replacing the Otterbox with the Case-mate or are they pretty comparable?

I had the Otterbox Commuter for a week, was not happy with it, it felt too plasticy, and slick, and was very thick/bulging case. I went into to Sprint store to check on some stuff, and the guy there had the Case Mate Tough on his EVO, I was like, wow that is cool looking, and looked to be a bit thinner than my Otterbox.
Bought it on the spot, and wow instant love, the feel of the case it what gets me, it just feels soooooo nice in your hand, and the back has a cool design, and the best kickstand cutout of any case I have seen. The Otterbox will never be back on my phone.
Case is adds too much thickness to the EVO....

I agree, it does, but it feels so nice in the hand, and offer great protection. I wish the case was thinner, but that would be impossible with the nice cushion it has.

Has anyone else tried this awesome case out yet ?
Well I had the sedio active (now named the active X)
I ordered the new sedio active x (hybrid) from here on reffered to as "the x" and the case mate from here on reffered to as the "CM"
Ill tell you this they are damn near identical. They both have a rubbery type feel to the plastic piece that wraps around the silicon case. There is no actual plastic that touches your phone its silicon with a plastic over wrap. The cm has more texure to its plastic outer shell than the X
They fit the phone about the same the volume and power I think are easier to hit on the x vs the cm
the pricing is about the same but the cm comes with a static type screen protector, cloth and application card. The x comes with nothing.
The x comes in a myriad of colors and holsters are availaible. the cm comes in two colors and there does not appear to be any type of holster availaible, however the cases are so close Id bet to say the sedio one would fit
cm offers a 90 day warranty (3 month)
x offers a 180 day warranty (6 month)
sedio generally has pretty good customer service (except in my case)
case-mate had been in business a zillion years
I think with everything being as it is, I have to say Id prolly go with the x
its not that the cm isnt a great case because it is, im going simply based off the accessory options and the warranty.
however with that being said....I should go with the cm because im mad at sedio now.
Had this question in my post in General and while I got some great answers to the other questions but so far nothing on this one. Figured I would make a separate topic specifically about this and see what it comes up with.
What would you all think are the top 3 case options that are available?
I personally like the SGP ultra slider for the i9000 but it fits on the vibrant. I will post pictures up tomorrow.
I'm really liking the Case-Mate Barely There. It doesn't bulk up the phone like most of the cases out there.
It all depends on what youre looking for in a case.
If its protection:
Otterbox Commuter
Case-mate Tough Case
Trident Cyclops Case
This works just great for me. Brought 5 of them for the price....just in case. Been using the the first one I put on since I got the vibe in October when it was released. At the time it was only $.98!

Does the Barely There case come out much in the front to help protect the screen from a front face drop? It is hard to tell in the video on their site. What do you think?
Thanks.
I have the Korean anycall mesh case and I really like it. My only complaint is the"Galaxy S" on the back is gold instead of chrome to match the trim on the phone.
Since it's OEM, it fits nice and doesn't add much bulk. It also adds a nice feel with the holes and the plastic material.

Not really, if you want a good case to protect your phone from drops you want a bit bulkier case like the Trident Cyclops or the CaseMate Tough Case. I personally use the Casemate Tough Case and couldn't be happier.

I think one of the most popular cases is the "hybrid tpu case". The is a larger thread about it in this section. I love the case, it provides awesome protection and a good heft to the phone.
I m looking for a nice case on eBay that is not more than $50. Which case is your favorite and why?

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSK3SSGNL-RB
I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.

It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

Hey guys,
I am looking into buying a case now, and after looking through some threads here, I think I will pick one of these three:
Diztronic TPU case: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Flexible-Protector-International-Packaging/dp/B0089F49P0/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO
Ringke Slim Lite: http://www.rearthusa.com/galaxy_s3_slim_lite_kit
Incipio Silicrylic: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-302-Silicrylic-Silicone-Samsung/dp/B0085VAP38/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1342098764&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+incipio
The most important thing for a case to me is drop protection, followed by thinness.
I have heard good things about all these cases, so I feel that I can't go wrong, but I'm having a hard time choosing.
Also, if you know of any other cases that you really like and offer good drop protection.. let me know
Edit: Looks like I'll go with the Incipio.. Thanks for the replies

If drop protection is top on you list then take the Rearth off the list. TPU is quite hard when compared to silicone, in a drop test the Silicrylic case will not doubt be much better.

+1 I currently use the Ringke but only because it's thin and provides enough protection to prevent scratches while still preserving the beauty of the device. I also have the Diztronic tpu and it should provide enough protection for low drops.

My silicrylic and my gs3 both showed up yesterday.
The case is very nice and definitely offers drop protection. The silicone doesn't seem to attract dust and lint like I thought it would.
I used to have a seidio active on my evo 3d which is the same type of case, so I thought I knew what to expect. I have to say though the incipio case is much nicer than the seidio case was. It is very sleek for what it is and the silicone isn't at all tacky like the seidio case was. It is very smooth and slides in and out of a pocket very nicely.
The all black looks nice on my blue gs3 too which is great.
I basically bought this case for times I may want a little extra protection, but I am so happy with it I think I will use it as my primary case. Fyi I ordered from Amazon and it only cost me $17 shipped.
I'm liking that incipio
I have this casemate one because it was all I could find the second day I had the phone. They come in all black now
Definitely buy the Incipio Silicrylic.
I have actually bought all 3 types of cases for my S3 that you listed in your OP, so my opinion matters more than these other guys! j/k -- 1) TPU (Cruzerlite ($10); similar to Diztronic and $1 versions on ebay); 2) Hard polycarb shell (Rock Quicksand ($10); similar to rinke); 3) Hybrid (Incipio ($18)).
After trying all the cases on, I can only recommend the Incipio if you care anything at all about protecting your phone, while looking good, and without adding as much bulk as an otterbox. The Incipio's Silicone sides and the hard case itself is also grippier than the others, and doesn't attract lint at all like my $0.99 silicone lint magnet on my old Captivate.
(Throw the screen protector that comes with the Incipio away, though. Crap quality)
I have the incipio and like it a lot...tried a letterbox commuter but took it back because I liked the incipio that much better...

Another vote for incipio :good:
I dunno, if thinness is number 2 you should stay far away from the incipio. It is definitely a fatty.
I say just suck it up and get the ringke or diztronic and just be more careful.
Look no further!!!
Seriously... you should +1 this ish.

Hey guys,
I am looking into buying a case now, and after looking through some threads here, I think I will pick one of these three:
Diztronic TPU case: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Fle...g/dp/B0089F49P0/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO
Ringke Slim Lite: http://www.rearthusa.com/galaxy_s3_slim_lite_kit
Incipio Silicrylic: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-30...=1342098764&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+incipio

The Incipio is an excellent choice. I bought all three and find the Incipio to be far superior, mostly due to protection capabilities.

I love my Incipio Silicrylic White/Gray case, but I just ordered an Otterbox Defender for the times when I feel I need a little added protection.
The only thing I don't like about the Incipio Silicrylic is that it doesn't have quite as much grip on the hard shell as I expected it to. Otherwise, it looks great, seems to protect well (though I haven't dropped it yet, and don't plan to), and doesn't gather lint.
If I wasn't so afraid of the phone slipping out of my pocket, like my iPod does all the time, I wouldn't even use a case.
But, a good case is a lot cheaper than total protection insurance. It costs more over the course of 2 years with deductible than I originally paid for the phone with contract. An an Otterbox Defender only costs $30-$50.
My vote is for the incipio
If you don't mind the extra bulk and want the peace of mind stick with the defender. The bulk is not bad, and it makes the phone feel like it's made of more premium material, I own it and it's great!

Get the Incipio. The Otterbox and Trident cases can withstand more torture but let's be honest here. Going with one of them turns a beautiful phone into one ugly ass crack whore.

I'm looking for some good cases that give protection. I've never had a case with good protection, like right now I have literally a somewhat hard plastic shell that is still flimsy I also have a standard no name dry screen protector.
I'm wondering what are some cases to look at that offer protection but aren't insanely bulky. I want lightweight to medium protection (I always thought those hardshell + rubber cases were neat). Also any flaws like I saw some cases people said headphone jacks wont fit or gaps that invite dust etc. I don't know about these tempered glass screen protectors but if anyone wants to recommend one too.
Sorry if this is a spam post because I have been sifting around and looking to see what's best but it's hard to read thousands of comments and then the reviews haha.

I been looking up on the same query, and seems like there are 2 options which got real good feedbacks:
1) Spigen Slim Armor (2 part case: hardshell + silicon)
2) Diztronic TPU case
Gonna read on Supcase as well, but the above two mentioned really have been quite comprehensive.
Spigen
+ Provides excellent protection.
+ Snug fit and top quality product.
- Slight bulk added. (Not too bothersome)
- The back of the phone is rendered flat due to the case design.
The TPU case
+ Provides good protection
+ Next to no bulk added and is like next to having no case at all.
+ It's back is curved, which makes it easier to hold.
- Semi slippery to hold

Hey thanks for the reply! I've heard that the TPU case sometimes has a poor cutouts. Not sure if you have read that either, the slippery holding is worrisome though haha. Is there a specific Spigen case that is the best out of the ones they offer? Let me know what you find out about the Supcase. I'm still browsing around and reading reviews trying to find what is the optimal "overall best" case
Slim Armor is the best.
Black, because it has soft touch.

How's the ultra hyrbid par up with slim armor? The armor looks like it'd be too bulky like an otterbox
It's a little bulky but it's not intrusive. The ultra hybrid I bought was a waste of money. Buttons were hard to press. The plastic scratched deep easily (yes the film was off), it also had a gap where a bunch of crap got between the case and the phone.

I spoke about a specific Spigen case earlier in my post - Spigen Slim Armor.
There were reports that the earlier batch had issues with the buttons, but seems like the revised case have got the anomaly removed.
Looks like a Fantastic product and i would definitely be inclined to get it.
BUT,
I have not even seen the Diztronic or any other case for that matter. People been impressed with Diztronic, it has been revised as well so the cut outs have been treated after feedbacks. So again, if you want bullet proof protection, go for the Spigen Slim Armor, and if you want a light weight casing, Diztronic is the way to go.
I will read about the Supcase sometime next week maybe. No rush for me as i already got the case delivered. So the supcase reading will be only for information gleaning purposes.
if you find anything worthy, mention it here and gimme a shout
Pretty happy with my Slim Armor, though the button covers are very sensitive so my phone has rebooted a few times since I've installed it. Spigen is sending me a replacement TPU inner shell. Going to wrap the outer shell in carbon fibre tonight, will post pics when I'm done, assuming I can do a decent job.
I have a fosmon TPU/plastic shell with holster from amazon for $5 and it's pretty solid. It is a bit bulkier than the Slim Armor but very small, and only in thickness. Great deal for $5, and I use the holster with the slim armor.
