Installation instructions are on the page

First, back everything up with the "Backup Rom" option in Rom manager (also called a nandroid backup). Download the Rom (.zip) you want and put on root of your SD card as a zip file, Reboot into recovery with Rom manager. Data wipe, cache wipe, and choose install zip from SD. Reboot you phone. And that's it your new Rom should be up and running. First boot up usually takes a few minutes as it is building ur cache. If there are any problems try searching the forum b/c it has probably already been addressed.
Usually the steps are listed in the Op of a forum on how to install a specific Rom but the steps are pretty much the same.
Virtuous is a good Rom, its Android 2.2 with Sense 2.0. But u should give VillainRoms SenseGinger a try, it is Android 2.3 with Sense 2.1. The latest is pretty stable and fast, and it keeps getting updated.

I do have what might be a silly question on this topic, however it has been bothering me and I don't dare try it. I change my rom A LOT because I like to play around and try out the new stuff but I usually end up going back to CM7. at the moment I have a backup of each ROM I've tried so far in case I want to go back to play with it or update it if it gets updates. Whenever I change roms I do a factory restet and a cache wipe. is that necissary? or can you just install zip over whatever is there like you do with CM nightly updates?

You can but it is often recommended to wipe because of lingering data that might not match up with your current rom. sometimes it could be just fine and sometimes cause problems. so it really just depends on what roms your using. Personally i just wipe data and cache when jumping between roms unless its just a patch or update.
hello,
can someone please provide the procedure to install Virtuous Quattro on desire HD or a link to it ? is there a need to install any specific Radio /kernel? my HD is on default Radio, but custom MIUI ROM
How to:
Hi as you have a custom rom already it makes it simple as you are already rooted.
1 - Download the ROM and place it on the root of your microSD - Link for the Virtuos Quattro thread
2 - Also Download the Kernel to correct WIFI issues - Link and place it on the root of your microSD
3 - Power down your device and enter on recovery mode by holding volume down and power button at the same time. As soon as it prompt press volume up in 5 sec.
4 - Before flashing the ROM you will have to, for safety, make a backup of your existing ROM. You will find the option in the Recoverymode;
5 - After the backup do a FULL WIPE and it is very important to do in all data, cache and Dalvik (found in advanced options);
6 - Now install zip from MicroSD and look for the ROM.
7 - After installing the rom reboot the system - After rebooting power down into recovery mode again.
8 - Install the Kernel you download following the same procedure of item 6;
9 -Once again Reboot and enjoy.
I am not sure but I would try to avoid using any kind of app and data backup. Start from screch (I did it and had absolutely no problem).

Turner!
hi Turner,
thanks for the instructions,
apart from installation of the fix for the wifi, is it needed to install any other kernel for this ROM to work? If so, at what stage the kernel (not the wifi fix) should be installed ? also, is it again like step 6 for the installation of the kernel?
As far as I am concerned you wouldn't need any kernel prior for the rom.. I came from stock to android revolution to cm 7.1 and then virtuous. I didn't install any specific kernel prior to flashing virtuos rom and it worked great.
Try flashing and then comeback here telling us the results.
A quick question: did you flash any kernel before the miui rom you have?
i haven't flashed any kernel or radio before, but have been flashing different ROMs. was bit confused when i read somewhere that for virtuous ROM you need to flash a kernel. Anyway, thanks for your feedback. Let me try as per the steps mentioned by you and see the results..
User30 if you're like me and uncounter a little problem with the Wifi not working or the sound not working either, here's a little trick;
1. go get the .zip here : dev-host.org/k8rsgpxf5o2y/lordmodUEv8.8-ICS-BFS-b7.zip
It's lord kernel, really nice and work fine.
2. Put it on your SD card, *don't extract it*
3. you'll need to clear the cache when you're in the clockwork on ace hack.
4. Install the .zip using the same way that you install your ROMs
if it didn't work here's the modification
1. get the .zip of the Kernel and the one of the ROM
2. Put them on the SD card
3. Make a FULL wipe and be sure to Wipe the cache too
4. Install the ROM.
5. Install the Kernel
6. Everything should work perfectly
I had some problem with some Kernel, no idea why. The one I just gave the link to is working perfectly and didn't had any problem with it. p.S if working with Virtuous Quattro, install the RC1 for now. There is a bug on the wifi on the RC2 and I think they are currently working on it.
Sorry for my bad english btw.
Radio update utility is present in ARHD 6.3.1 thread....hope this will help you to update the radio...i updated with it without any issues..

Hello
1-Why is the picture quality of the Contact, is down?
2-No setting For Gallery ... Why?
Are you speaking about the Virtuous RC1 or RC2. Since it's a RC version and not the complet version it's normal that some stuff ain't working or are bugging.
But as we speak there's more likely some people of the Virtuous working on the rom itself so I guess some of those will be fixed. If you want to keep information about the dev go in the thread about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428047 you'll see all the update you need to follow
Hi everyone,
I have tried searching but was not able to find what I was looking for.
I would like to install Cyanogen 9 RC2 on my phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757323
I currently have an early version of CM10 GSM Jelly Bean on there, which is missing some of the core features (they will come with time!). According to the instructions though, the zip file is supposed to contain a boot.img file to flash it.
Guessing its my newbieness, but, where do I get this file? How do I extract it from the archive to flash with?
Code:
Rom Installation:
Flash boot.img in fastboot
FACTORY Reset
[B]Flash the ROM[/B]
reboot
boot rom
reboot back into recovery
Flash GApps
Reboot into the system (first boot will take several minutes)
Thanks muchly! As well, if someone can point me to a handy user guide for this kind of thing, that would be awesome. As of now I'm only barely able to finger this stuff out. Took me over an hour to unlock my phone haha
:/
U READ THE INSTRUCTIONS WRONG :/
""DONT FLASH THE BOOT.IMG INSIDE THE ZIP""
U can simply use KISS kernel open :
http://www.mediafire.com/?7hq6ikra7w0kt
open the 1 wid cm9 written in it ..rename it to boot.img ...
this kernel has several advantages lik sweep2unlock and usb host <3

(I can't check it out now, MediaFire is blocked at work)

read the instructions 1000 times :/
As of now i am out of tim wen free i'll giv u the whole instructions

Sorry, new to this stuff. Please don't hate!
I had just installed CM 10 which did require a boot.img flash, so I was a bit confused with the "Flash the ROM" portion of the install.
So with CM 9, I just plop the zip on my phone's SD, fire up recovery, load, bob's my uncle?
You need to flash a kernel for cm9 go to the KISS kernel thread http://www.mediafire.com/?7hq6ikra7w0kt pick a kernel and flash it via fastboot, just like you did the CM10 kernel, boot into recovery ,wipe data, cache and format system, flash the CM9 ROM and the Gapps, reboot!

Yey! Thanks man. Exactly what I needed. I'm installed and up/running.
Having a bit of an issue with the SD card, it won't detect it. Card works fine in my computer; tried another one as well. Tried mounting/unmounting, rebooting, violently protesting in the streets, nothings working.
I'm not even sure where to begin fixing that. Any suggestions? Thanks!
hi... , after I upgraded my XAS from ICS to JB using Sony updater. well for one you already flashed cobrato's kernel so you're ready to flash a stock based ROM like Trinity Vengeance...
if you want to flash an AOSP or CM based ROM like PACMAN or CM10.1 just download the ROM package, extract the boot.img that's inside the package, fastboot flash the boot.img, reboot to recovery [they already have their own recovery with the kernel], wipe data and cache and then flash the ROM package

bugs will always be there bro, what with all the modding and scripting that developers do on a ROM..you just have to find the right workarounds in my opinion
i really understand that... but this "bugs" about i'm saying is from based source(Installation conflicts)... i just will do a clean re-installing to be sure... maybe when sony release new Update some bugs disappear...
I'll do it tomorrow ... enough for today(1:10 AM here) ... Thanks for help me (I still have to re-format my PC today ... another thing is full of bugs)
...
If you can pass me the setup order to install the trinity ROM with Forzaferrileo kernel i will enjoy it
bye :highfive:
I have a doubt now ... to flash the. TFT file, making a clean re-installation, what i need wipe, format or do the factory restore? in what order?
and after that.. I'll have to do the root again? ... neither the unlock the bootloader? ...

what i did when i flashed trinity was:

reboot to recovery
wipe data/factory reset and cache
flash trinity rom
reboot to system
if you wanna flash forzaferrarileo kernel after flashing the rom just fastboot flash it or use flashtool..i dunno if you can use forzaferrarileo kernel to flash the rom, but i beleive you can do so since it has cwm recovery already
Make sure you have the latest version of Flashtool.
For CM11 Nightlies:
Find nightlies here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=n1
If you're already on CM 10.2, just wipe cache and dalvik. Flash over your current build.
If you're coming from anything else, wipe cache, dalvik, data, and system. Then flash normally.
If you want gapps, you'll have to flash gapps as well.
No need for any modified files on nightlies. I assume that official stable builds will still be defaulted to flash on stock recovery though.
————————————————————————————————
CM 10.2 Information. Please do not use the following to flash CM11!
This is the method that I used to install CyanogenMod on TWRP.
I have tested this, and it is working perfectly on CM builds:
cm-10.2-WPPH47N-n1
cm-10.2-WPPH50O-n1
I will continue to test and update as new CM builds come out until CM flashes normally on TWRP
————————————————
First - Have TWRP as your recovery (2.6.3.1). Don't ask me how to do that.
Second - Backup your ROM! Just in-case something breaks, it's not my fault, and I'm not responsible.
————————————————
Now, we begin:
Download the newest CM build for the Oppo N1 from http://www.cyanogenmod.org/hardware/oppo-n1/#images
————————————————
After downloading your CM build from the above link, you'll need to follow these instructions to get setup for flashing in TWRP.
To modify your downloaded CM file, you can use either of the two methods below:
1: You can modify it yourself. It's actually very simple, just one line change.
2: I have attached an already modified updater-script to my post. You can use that and drop it into place (the file inside the zip, not the whole zip).[/b]
YOU ONLY NEED TO USE ONE OF THESE METHODS!
Method 1: To modify the file yourself:
First, open your CM zip that you have downloaded.
Navigate to the folder: META-INF\com\google\android\
Open the updater-script
Remove the first line only! You will remove:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "N1" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "N1");
Do not remove anything else unless you know exactly what you're doing!
If you modified the file within the .zip, just save the file and it should save to the CM zip.
If you extracted the .zip, save the file and then go back and rebuild the zip.
Transfer over your newly modified CM.zip file to wherever you can find it on your phone (I drop it straight in the root folder).
——————————
Method 2: To download my pre-modified updater-script
Download my attached file (updater-script.zip)
Extract the file inside the zip (there's only one file)
Open your CM zip that you have downloaded.
Navigate to the folder: META-INF\com\google\android\
Simply copy your extracted updater-script from where you extracted it and drop it into the CM zip (It should save after)
Transfer over your newly modified CM.zip file to wherever you can find it on your phone (I drop it straight in the root folder).
————————————————
Reboot into TWRP:
Advanced Wipe ->
Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, and Data. ***DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM***
Then install your modified CM file. Please, remember, DO NOTE WIPE SYSTEM.
Reboot system! Done!
:victory:
I hope this all makes sense...
Basically you download the CM rom
Modify or copy the updater-script into the zip
Then you move the ROM to you phone
Then you go through the above area with wiping and flashing
* Pictures are attached
* Please let me know if there are any problems with this.
* Both versions of CM released so far have identical updater-script files. The .zip that I have attached will work on both builds.
* I will keep updating as needed

We're working on fixing TWRP so the asserts work properly.
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bionic/commit/4482d8513920d614e3799a214c5bad07b72580d2#diff-1 broke a lot of things.
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bionic/commit/ad76c85b9ca587084089d086f954158bc0eae905 allows flashing newer firmwares on older recoveries - but not the other way around.
The short-term fix is a TWRP build made from a 4.3 tree - this is 90% done.

Correct, the very top link in the OP is the full ROM. You can download the full ROM and flash it in TWRP. It's already fixed and ready to go.
So far that has been the only ROM to come out from Oppo for CM. It contains most of the ColorOS features that work. "Knock" to wake (double-tap), screen off gestures, camera orientation, etc. I'm almost positive that the back touch-pad was working. I haven't been on CM in a little bit though. I'm still working on making changes to ColorOS, and updating as I go.

Camera orientation is handled by the camera HAL blobs.
CM does have back touchpad support but it's wonky (which is why omni hasn't merged it yet, we're still discussing whether to completely rearchitect it or just fix it.)

Go into SuperSU and remove it in the settings (unroot). That will get rid of all of the current SuperSU stuff.
Then flash SuperSU in TWRP.
To flash the unmodified CM, you can try the TWRP in post #3 of this thread HERE.
Or you'll have to remove the same line in the updater-script. The same method posted in the OP. Don't use the uploaded updater-script that I have there though. You'll need to change your own. It's a really simple fix. You don't have to extract all the files out. You can just modify the one file (I use Notepad++).
Sometime tomorrow I'll update the whole OP to include the newest CM version. I'm about to head out to our New Year's event, so I won't be available for the evening.
Enjoy the evening everyone. I wish you all the best! :good: :victory:

OP updated! The newest release of CM has been added. I'll keep on top of it from now on, sorry about the delay.
I'm not going to host the CM builds anymore, since the modification is so small from the original CM build. Everyone flashing this should be capable of making the small change that's outlined in the OP.

After dropping the file in, just save the zip again. If you haven't extracted it, you shouldn't have to do anything special.
Also, CM can easily be installed on the stock recovery. Oppo doesn't control other recoveries.

After dropping the file in, just save the zip again. If you haven't extracted it, you shouldn't have to do anything special.
Also, CM can easily be installed on the stock recovery. Oppo doesn't control other recoveries.
