[Q] Play music over Bluetooth to an old phone? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have had a spare hero lying around for quite some time. And I want to use it for something. Is there anyway I can use my galaxy to play music wirelessly to my hero, which will then be plugged into my stereo via 3.5mm jack.

Why not just plug your stereo into the S3??

Slacker in car stereo

Is it possible to listen to slacker or pandora in the car THROUGH your phone?
I was looking at some posts and it gave me the idea to listen to it in the car which would be cool.
Would this be possible by just running slacker/pandora and then just letting it play?
Thanks.
I don't see why not. If you can stream it to BT headphones, it should stream to your BT car radio. One way for sure is if your car stereo has a 3.5mm phono jack. You can hook up with a cord and playback that way if BT doesn't work.
Car doesnt have bT and the AUX is there BUT we would need to go to dealership to make it actually work...no connection ;/ ...so I'm going with a FM transmitter (No tape deck either ) haha...thanks for the reply.
A BT-capable radio is less than $200 and provides the ability to make/answer phone calls hands-free, something most states are requiring by law these days. My Sony MEX3700BT works great and also has a USB slot on front for thumb drives as well as a 3.5mm mini jack for corded connection.

How play my EVO through car speakers...

My car is a few years old and doesn't have a place to plug in my EVO directly for playing music through the speakers.
What are some of my other options? I've have tried the gizmos that try to send the music to an FM station and play it that way, but those were very static-y and unreliable.
Any other ideas?
Do you have a cassette deck?

A cassette deck now that funny stuff. Do you think anyone in the US still has a cassette deck? I remember the day metal cassettes were the best man they sounded awesome.
I really think your best bet is to buy a new deck. If your evo has the DSP manager it sounds great over bluetooth.

Actually, my 2007 Lexus GS350 has a cassette player, 6 disk changer and no aux port. I use the cassette adapter for IPOD and Evo.
My Ford Windstar 2000 has a cassette tape player, that's what I use
Ha my old 66 Ford Fairlane still has the dual 8-tracks I put in it way back when. Course it has been garaged for years, but i'm going to have to go see if they still work now! Had two of them so I could rewind one while still listening to another.
you need an aux input adapter wired into your cd player/stereo for BEST sound.
goto your local car audio shop and ask, they'll know what you're talking about.
PIE is a great brand if you want to install yourself.
http://www.pie.net/
buy yourself a composite rca -> 3.5mm male adapter cable and connect it all up.
i got one in my 04 lincoln ls, i used my evo as my mp3 player and music player in the car. best auto investment ever, lol

Can you tell us what year/model car you have and what stereo option (if any)? There may be a way to wire a bluetooth adapter in via external CD changer inputs if that option exists on your factory head.
This is what i use: http://www.amazon.com/Cygnett-GrooveTraveller-Transmitter-Charger-Adapter/dp/B001HNDSIK
it transmits and charges my ipod and has a AUX in on the side for my EVO. works great for me.

i have a sirius satellite radio (sportster 4 or 5) that has an aux jack in it. i connect a 3.5mm cable to it and the headphone jack of my phone and get perfect sound! only thing i have to do is pause the radio turn media volume up on my phone and it is just like a direct connection to my car radio.
A battery operated FM transmitter works without static, but they are increasingly difficult to find.
Get a FM modulator, they are cheap & easy to install. The sound will be better than most transmitters.

I hook my Evo up to my aux on my head unit through the headphone jack to play music on the sd card or Slacker and it's always low sounding. Much lower than my regular cd's.

I second this recommendation. I bought the Schosche modulator from Amazon for ~$28. Yeah, a new head unit with Bluetooth, HD, and aux in would have been nicer but also would cost a lot more.
The kit came with a small trim bezel containing the jack & a power switch; the bezel has a small piece of double-stick tape to mount somewhere on your dash. I pulled the jack & switch out, and mounted them directly in my dash, so it looks a bit more "finished."
The audio sounds good. There is a very slight hiss/crackle that seems to be coming from my car charger. If the charger is disconnected the sound is clean. The hiss is so small that I can't really hear it when there is music/podcast playing.
I would like to make a custom patch cable so I can wire in a microphone mounted up near my visor. This way I won't have to unplug the audio line when I get an incoming call.
I'm also using the Mountek mount described in another thread. It works well. Overall I'm quite happy. It didn't cost much and took less than an hour to install. I'm really enjoying Pandora & podcasts now during my commute time!

music/bluetooth/car

I have an Evo and a stock car stereo ('08 f150). How can I play music and stream Pandora from the Evo through the car stereo wirelessly? Is there a product I can buy to hook up to the car stereo? Bluetooth?
Thanks
buy an fm transmitter. it plugs into the headphone jack and transmits to a freq on your radio.
Some models of that year had it, but if it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, you can switch your radio to aux and then plug in to the evo and play that way. Or buy a cassette player adapter with the headphone jack and do the same thing, if you have a cassette player.
You can do what others have stated and or you can buy a bluetooth car stereo and sync your EVO to it.

Any of the ways the other guys said will work great, especially like teh roxx said, if your stereo has a 3.5mm input auxillary port. Thats the easiest. Here is a link to a product that i heard works well, but haven't tried it. I was planning on buying it for my company work van, but then I got laid off, (damnit!), so have no more work van! I am curious about this product though, it looks decent.

S3 audio out with audio control with female connector (for car aux-in)

Hi all,
I have seen some threads in the accessory subforum but they mainly talk about headphones with audio controls. I was looking for something different.
When I had Galaxy S, I used to use this guy here which used to give me call-accept/cancel+track stop/play/fwd function. The other end of it used to go to my CAR aux-in. It also had a mic so helps me talk as well. All in all a great piece. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to work for S3.

Thanks a lot.
Here are some, but they are bluetooth, so not required to plug into your phone.
http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Li..._1_1?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1285936657&sr=8-1
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Techn...343559054&sr=8-1&keywords=liquidaux+bluetooth
Or you can get these bluetooth headsets and simply unplug the headphones and plug it into your car's Aux-In. However, they run on batteries, so need to charge them.

Any of these around?

I've been looking for a dock that is compatible with our phone, that has a speaker so I can use it to play music. Is there anyone out there with knowledge of any, or is it better just to get a blue tooth one?

I too was looking for one, thank you for posting this, I was just about to come on here and post the same question =)
If you're looking for one that doesn't use an aux input jack, i'd go for the philips with bluetooth or there's a gear4 android dock coming out soon that can use the usb port for audio. I have the iHome and it uses an aux input, but the music shuts off on me after 3 minutes when i turn off the screen. So, i stopped using the dock and just plugged my phone in with a regular wall charger and just played music through the speaker. I suppose the aux input would be alright if it wasn't used for playing music as you sleep though

I myself am looking to use it for when I'm just in the mood to listen to music louder then what the speaker of the phone itself can do. For the car I have a different radio which has an aux in so I just use a cable and listen to the music on my phone through the car speakers.
