i love my S3, but this is driving me crazy. for no reason the sound will stop working for notifications, and or feedback. I triple check the sound levels and other settings and everything is on, mute is off. sometimes it will not notify and just vibrate for like 20 seconds.
The only way to restore it is to powercycle the handset. This is so stupid im thinking of factory reset. I also checked for updates and there are none available. Please help!!
Thanks
I don't have an answer but I can confirm I have the same issue.

If you have your text message limit set to 200 messages and you receive number 201 from someone the notification sound will get cut off because it has to delete a message and it doesn't have the brain to do 2 things at once. I found this solution in the Verizon forums. If this is your issue then be sure to thank them.

Has anybody here come across any voicemail issues while using their Incfredible? Whenever I use the stock sense 2.0 ROM and I have a new voicemail, I call my voicemail, try to type in my password, however it doesn't seem to acknowledge that I am even doing anything. I'll type in my password, press pound, and it'll ask me to enter my password. I tried resetting the password, still no issues. I can't clear the notification so its there forever pretty much. I have like 8 new voicemails right now. I know these ROMs are popular, I am curious as to how nobody else has come across this problem, as I couldn't find a thread anywhere.
Thank you for your time.
Set audible tones to short or long in call settings menu (I think, I don't use sense roms..)

Just looked it's pretty obvious. The sub text describes your problem almost exactly.
Hint: it starts with "prevent"

That is unusual, if your phone is new maybe you should exchange it.

Could try a factory reset.

My incoming mms notification ringtone doesn't always play completely. I use the whistle one but it usually sounds like more of a whimper. Once in a while it'll play the full ringtone but often it'll cut off abruptly, sometimes not even playing at all. I've missed getting messages due to this. I've tried using different ringtones all with the same outcome. They sometimes play completely, but mostly they don't or not at all. Is there any way to fix this?

Once you've reached your 200 text limit or w.e you set it at the ringtone cuts off. Try deleting your messages and it should play the whole ring for you.

If you use zedge to assign sounds you will not experience the "cutoff" issue.

Didn't make any difference.
Last night I kept receiving amber alerts at 3 am. This morning again at 8am and its really starting to piss me off. How can I opt out of receiving these alerts?

Look in the settings for messaging.
It should be under emergency messages.

Yes go onto your messaging app and press the menu button then settings scroll down to emergency alerts then uncheck amber alerts, and whatever else you don't want.. Presidential alerts cannot be unchecked tho.. Hope this helps

i hope a custom rom can rid us of his B.S.!! i registered [ Presidential alerts] as spam in the messaging app menu will it work to shut his piehole?
My best guess is that either the messaging apk from a Canadian or International ROM should work.
I can't help but wonder if this one will eventually send a (hopefully incorrect) "duck and cover" message... It wouldn't be the first time either. (Stumbled on that a few weeks ago and thought it'd be interesting in this context.)

yes it was the only solution for stopping the unwanted amber alerts.I am agree with your suggestion.
The presidential alerts would be something where there's immanent risk of life.
