<TEMP FIX>Possible for screen flicker in cm10/AOKP roms. - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Overclocking the minimum frequency to 590 in the kernel seems to fix it. Haven't had a single flicker with anything like I used to. Hope it helps someone.

Thanks for this! I also read somewhere that disabling HW Overlays does it, and though it reduced flicker on my device, it didn't kill it. Also, i have no idea what HW overlays are.

Disabling the HW overlays will make scrolling not as smooth in certain areas. Its really noticeable on the home screens with transition effects.

Change Touch Key Back light Brightness?

I know it is possible. But is there an app that does that? I know, well I think I used to have one. The LG worked perfect on my G2X. But anyways, please tell me if you guys know any application that does that. Thank you. Also, if you find something on Google, don't come here and start calling me a moron or anything and just help out. Please.

What makes you able to say "I know its possible" i honestly dont believe its possible because its a gpio controlled LED. Therefore the cpu only understands "on" or "off" values. Where 0 is off and anything higher than 0 is on no matter what brightness you might want.

I'm with elesbb here, I don't think our specific hardware allows it. You were able to actually do it in cm7 or just that there was an option in cm7? There are options in general roms (like cm) that aren't necessarily applicable to us

If you're talking about "use custom levels " it doesn't work. Hence why at the very too it says "sensor value " and reads a -1 for both raw and filtered and a disabled for screen and a -1 for buttons. My assumption is that either the kernels or the cm9 software isn't completely ironed out and there are some minor tweaks needing to be fixed yet.

Annoying Screen Timeout!

So I'm watching a video (expanded to full screen) on the stock browser at night in a dark room when the screen times out.
I can't find any way of switching the screen timeout off, and have to resort to setting the time to maximum and having to reopen the screen and restart the video every 10 minutes.
There has to be a solution to this annoying problem? Please?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Is smart stay enabled or is it just not working on the dark room ? If smart stay is not working then you can just pull out the s pen from it's holder or hover with the s pen instead of closing the video.

Why have this phone if you don't use it? Besides, full screen is probably one way to AVOID burn in.

Yes, this avoids the screen burn. Screen burn only happens because some of the led's are used more than others which is why some degrade faster which results in varying color contrasts. Using full screen almost all the time however, uses all of the led's, thus all of them will degrade at a slightly similar rate and the change of color contrast would not be as noticeable to the common eye.

I'm having the same problem not sure why there would be this problem considering no phone for the last 4 years have had this problem. Terrible overt sight by Google/Samsung. Really interested if some one finds the solution to this.
Use Profile Scheduler from the play store it lets you set up a profile with a setting for screen time out never option. Thats the only reason I use it. I listen to alot of music in my truck and it keeps the musoc player from going to sleep.
Screen time out issue is only when watching flash enabled videos in browser.
Reason : Flash is not supported in Jellybean officially,
So just using flashplayer.apk will not rewrite screen timeout settings in system files.
And, smart stay doesn't work in dark room with lights off.

[Q] Decrease the lowest brightness of Note 2?

Hi, I'm a newbie here, I just wondering is there a way to decrease the lowest brightness limit?
It's quite uncomfortable to use the phone in a completely dark room, even though I've set the lowest brightness.
Thank You
Play store, screen filter or Filter your screen.

Though keep in mind that screen filters degrade the quality of colors and makes you unable to install apps while they're active.

yeah you're right, the brightness does not change even though there is extra room for decreasing the brightness on the slider.
Try Elixir 2
I use Elixir to make a filter toggle, I have this toggle within a widget in my homescreen and other one in the statusbar widget (both with the same filter configuration) and it works perfect for me because Elixir allows to add many toggles in the same widget.

um not really on the "battery will die very quickly" I actually have the mod on on my note2 and the battery difference is very minimal. yes you will loose a little but we're talking about 1-2% per hr less when mod is on. not really a difference considering the battery size of the note2. Dont know if the same will be with the much smaller battery of the s4 but it has a smaller screen as well (less power).
*s4 wake up lag is terrible imo

It did on mine, I can assure you. It only happened after I enabled it in the dev settings. My screen started flickering and an hour later died. I assume it was the extra workload on the GPU as it was having to constantly render the screen with no CPU help.

Just disable absolutely everything including all the features the phone came with. That's basically all you can do and people seem to be okay with that. SMH
Disabling gpu rendering definitely helped but the phone is still not buttery smooth. Not like the G3. Is this sluggishness not a big problem since I can't find much about it. I'm trying to figure out if it's an app causing the problem. I'm using Nova instead of default launcher.
