this has become irksome.
So on most of the ICS roms that I have tried, there is an app(?) in the app menu called Downloads. It opens, does nothing and shows nothing, just saying "No downloads". I already have a folder on my sd card called Downloads and this has files in it but the app doesn't seem to link to it. It does seem to be linked to something called DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk
thanks for any help.
edit
Alright, I can't believe I did that. I've reread my post and and still can't believe I did that. So here is the question:
"What is the download link?"
And sorry for the confusion. All my fault. Insert caffeine here.

Well, I'd love to try to answer, but where is this question?

He's trying to find out what the „Downloads” app is for. Frankly, I have no idea either.
Download anything using the stock browser and it'll show up there

I'd try rescanning your media ... all that app is, I believe, is a symlink; may not know anything is there with a fresh ROM install.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
Essentially, the download application is a directory link to files you have downloaded via browsers instead of other sources (ex:Google Play). Akin to the download folder of a computer. If this does not answer your query, I implore you to edit your post.
Hey thanks guys. Have edited op. Many apologies and thanks for your help in clearing it up.
Again sorry and thanks.

I have a small problem that i wasnt able to solve though i read all the possible forums and sites for the last three days. So here is it: our browser isnt able to upload files. When i try to upload something for example my files for UOT it opens something called upload but it says no files found. Is this a folder where i must put my files for uploading? If so, where is it? If no, is there a way to enabling these uploads thingy?
Please help. Thank you very much.

There is nobody here able to give me a hint at least ?

I've had some problems uploading some time ago. I think the issues was that the file manager was returning corrupt file addresses with too many slashes. So either try installing a different file manager, double checking that the address is formatted correctly or moving the file to upload to the root of the sd-card.
Think this may have something to do with the flash installed on the phone. I am not sure if the flash on the phone supports all the features that is supported by the desktop version of flash.
just do the uot thing from your computer instead.
I did my UOT from my computer of course buy it seems stupid for me to have a smartphone that is able to do almost anything and not one simple thing like uploading a file

I have searched these forums and have come across similar posts but not quite the problem I am having. From time to time I will get a market error when trying to update apps. "Market Error 492" and it wont download the update. I can fix this everytime by booting into recovery>Advanced>wipe Davilik Cache. Then Reboot. This will take care of my problem but will eventually comeback but never is it consistent.(sometimes I can go months before it happens) Is there a way to prevent this from happening at all? here is what I have:
Carrier: USCC
Device: HTC Desire CDMA
ClockworkMOd Recovery
Rom: CM7 Stable
Thanks in advance for any help
Have you tried clearing the market app's data?
I know it sounds stupid, its your sd card. Format it, backing up what you need

Hmm does sound a bit weird, but I have found out with things as such usually is something stupid. Any idea as to why this happens? I will surley try and report back with the results. Thanks
I know this doesn't help, but I have been getting that error too for the last 2 days :-(

Hi, mount SD-card on my PC and delete the .android_secure directory, which will re-enable the market functionality.
hi, i have an SGS1 with Mosiac 9...
market stopped working today.... tried the following..
clear dalvik cache
clear cache
clear market cache
BUT how do i find the .android_secure directory
i cant even find it through my android rooted file manager?
thanks..
PS.. seeing how many different phones, ROMs are having this issue... i am believing that its a market specific issue?
i also found this... but i dont know how to use it correctly or if its applicable... im a newb....
"When the Android Market app 3.4.4 was starting the download of an app it failed after a few seconds with error "could not be downloaded due to error 492". Searching on the internet I found some Asian page which contains the solution ... execute "chmod 777 /data/download". After I had execute this statement under adb shell, I had been able to install apps without any problems on my AC100 (with the OS update from July 2011)"
PPS.... how do i edit my signature... cant find that anywhere?
thanks again

I have followed this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194 and tried Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip from http://androidsu.com/superuser/
everything goes great until running the SU file from recovery and it errors as cannot install, tried with signature mode on and off with no luck
Any help would be great

I swear... I just talked about this... somebody needs to update the OP in the guide..
Or a mandatory tutorial one must watch upon signing up for forums explaining what a search bar is used for.....

FYI
if you see my notes I did a search and which tutorial I was using but, I agree it would be helpful if the tutorial was updated.
BTW I had to create a new user name since i cannot login to my old profile that I had on here since I was hacking and sporting an t-mo MDA.
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is some easy way to take screenshots.
Other Samsung devices have a shortcut for this: http://opensourcehacker.com/2011/02...g-galaxy-s-and-other-samsung-android-devices/
The Glide seems not to have.
So is there any other way? E.g. by defining some app in "Settings > Applications > Quick launch" ?
Or is "Screenshot" an app, removed in OsiMood-Rom?
I use the 'Home + Power key' combo to take screenshots. No special apps installed. Screenshots are saved in the 'ScreenCapture' folder.
mhh ok... my glide seems to recognize this home+power shortcut but it throws me an error:
The application com.sec.android.app.screencapture has stopped unexpectedly
:-/
Sorry for your trouble. I've soft-bricked my phone several times tooling with apps I shouldn't have and such, and I am rooted on the Craniam OC Kernel and the stock rooted ROM, but I've never had issues with screen capture working. I don't know how extensive your mods are, but is it possible some app manager is freezing some component of the system that screen capture needs? Shot in the dark but I hope you get answers.

if you have OsiMood or INC3PTION, you wont be able to use the HOME + POWER for screenshots for it is considered to be a bloatware so removed....you can search the Glide forums for the screenshot.apk found in stock ROM.
Errrr....just take the attached file and put it in /system/app
^^^^^
Thanks and any precautions like say giving permissions while placing in that folder??? Thanks again...
UPDATE:-
Done and is working perfectly... Thanks... Just use the "mount RW" option when copying that attached file to /system/app folder... No need to change the permissions.... Thanks a lot again...

Oh yeah sorry, forgot to metion that you need system to be writable (RW). About permissions, just give it full (rwxrwxrwx), Android will change and give it the right permissions after a reboot....

Hi there - I am on OsiMood and have replaced the existing file with the attached one - but it's still not working for me. I get the "...has stopped unexpectedly".
What to do?

Thanks! :good:

Sorry don't know was just recommending an alternative that works for me. Also I like that it is not always running in the background and only launch it when I need it, unlike the stock one that is always running.

I'm breaking my cherry here. Long time follower, reader, but never signed up for XDA. Now I need you!
VZW Droid Incredible 2. Stock rom. Rooted. Tried to download a short artistic video from an app I got off of Snappz (not sure if the video is going to internal storage or SD.) Anyways, thing keeps saying 'download unsuccessful.' I don't care about the download anymore. It won't stop trying to download this video. I've tried a reboot, I force stopped the process that I got the artistic video from. Out of ideas. Tried searching google and XDA. No luck. How do I stop this thing?
Edit: Deleted the app that was causing the issue. Don't know why I didn't think of that first.

Try going into downloads and cancelling it? Reboot not stopping it is odd, if that doesn't work kill and clear data on the downloads app.

Reflashing a ROM is different than formatting a hard drive , but hey if you can find a solution better than a 5 min reflash cuz I dont know what else you can do to stop the download that won't download, wish I could have been more help

Could be server issues with the app or the app itself. It possibly makes a folder with the app name or something on the SD card that it saves to.

The app says that it saves to SD/downloadmanager. The folder was empty. The app didn't have a folder I could easily identify either. Didn't even think to try uninstalling the app (slaps palm against forehead.) So I did that. We'll see.
