Or, you could just relock your bootloader and run a ruu?
http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
Might as well keep it as it is because 1. it will show *relocked* so they'll know that you have had it unlocked anyway, 2. I know two friends who have sent their htc's to be repaired and both of them had custom roms left on and nothing was said both returned fixed!
Obviously your choice but thats my opinion

Download and run the latest ruu. Check the Desire Index thread.

Actually, you need to download the latest RUU for YOUR Desire. Did you make a note of it before flashing a new ROM?
You can find everything in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
so flashing the ruu restores default hboot and S-ON?
Yes it does

correct RUU link needed for H3G UK three mobile
Hi
Thanks for ur reply
can u suggest any RUU, which u think will work on my phone

Hi
When I tried H3G uk its saying ur phone ready to use but screen not working when i tried WWE(world wide english), it stated the customer id prob, install correct RUU.
You need a gold card for a non-3 UK RUU - sounds ike you have an SLCD screen and flashed an AMOLED RUU, hence the black screen
Out of interest, if you run available 3uk ruu and check for updates, won't it update it for you? Mine was 3uk before root and custom ROM, so might need this info at some point. Thanks

Yes, but if you can't see what you're doing it'll be hard to do it
I see what you mean lol. In old Nokia days we used to change language to Chinese on the friend phones. After having it done to me a few time I could change it back with my eyes closed. LOL

Eddy, is that a correct one?
Hi all
Need to ask a few questions as iv come from a gnex although previously having a one x for a day.
- i have the storage problem where its showing as available space 25gb
What is the easyest fix?
- is i possible to flash a none branded but stock rom to remove bloatware?
- can you relock the bootloader?
Sorry if its sceem stupid but this is the fist htc i have messed with other than unlpcking the wildfire bootloader and my 1st one x bootloader but only rooting. I am used to samsung galaxys and the gnex.

Total space available is only 25.24GB, rest is taken up by the system.
To debloat you'd need to unlock via HTC Dev and flash a custom rom.
Yes you can relock, but it'll say RELOCKED instead of LOCKED. No S-OFF at the moment so only way to unlock is via HTCDev.
So the best thing for me to do is just unlock it and root it and keep it like that or would you suggest waiting for s-off? Tbh i didnt no about the 25gb thing i would of fort if its a 32gb phone you should have 32gig if its written down, not botther to much just reaf an artical a few people mentioned it was like that

Well ideally S-OFF so we can S-ON again, and flash radios and such, but at the moment it's hard to tell whether we'll get it, could be a while still so if the need is there to flash custom roms and gain root htcdev method is the only way.
I'm contemplating this as well had my device for over a month but now eeking to try out the custom kernels and roms, don't think I can wait any longer!
The phone does have 32GB memory but only 25GB is available to the user, the rest is taken up by Sense, system and such.
Now i get it lol the 25 gig part.
Im blagged about the s-off, s-on and what ruu is im a total noob with htc like i say i has samsungs before and it was a hell of a lot easyer to understand lol.
Can i not just flash a debranded firmware as im on 3 and its just filled with crap. Tbh im scared of bricking this device as i havent got a clue with anythink htc other than unlocking and rooting
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
RUU is like the firmwares we use to flash via odin, they are official updates and the RUU contains the rom and the flashing utility. You'd have to wait for a three related RUU.
As your with three you have a three branded handset and will have to wait for three to release their updated versions over the air.
Now with past HTC devices devs released S-OFF this allows users to root etc then if returning back to HTC they can S-ON again to revert it back to its original state, where on the Samsung we'd just flash a stock rom and use a jig to reset the counter.
HTC don't ship with S-OFF due to security reasons etc they keep saying.
So they provide an official way of unlocking the device but this doesn't S-OFF once unlocked we can flash CWM and gain recovery and root. Then you can flash a custom firmware to get rid of your three branded firmware. Now if you were to send the phone back to HTC for a repair you'd have to flash your three branded backup. And relock the bootloader it won't say locked but rather re locked. There are certain issues with warranties and HTC could use it against you.

Right so i might aswell just wait and see i can cope with it for now but just want to flash roms. Thanks for the advice very helpfull

How to go about it and what are the steps to be followed. Where do I download the stock Android with HTC sense.
I am new to htc any help will be greatly appreciated.
You need to do the following:
-Flash stock recovery image
-Relock bootloader
-Flash correct RUU for your version of HOX
Why are you wanting to go back to stock?
Can you please explain me the whole process and will it void my warranty?

Ah okay since you haven't unlocked your phone or put a custom ROM on it you just need to do a factory reset to get it back to stock.

HTC would never have said that re-installing the OS is the solution to anything. The most they would have said would be to do a factory reset.
Please explain exactly what you have done to your phone so far. You need to be more specific otherwise we can't help - we are not mind readers here.
They said so actually I cannot play any videos on my phone not even videos recorded by its own camera..sometimes mp3 files too struggle to play. Factory reset has not helped hence they said they have to reinstall the OS.

at first, you will need the following things:
- Stock RUU
- Stock Recovery Image
- relocked HBoot
Foolproof way is relock bootloader and flash ruu that matches your CID. Haven't read back too far in this thread, feeling lazy, make sure your HBoot version is below 1.36 as I'm assuming you'll be flashing ICS. I don't believe there are any JB ruu's available to date.

here's the situation
i have recently bought refurbished htc one x
i wanted to update it with offical jelly bean update it showed me
th update downloaded and i proceed to install it, i was a long time on the installing icon so i left my phone, when i got back it wouldnt turn on like the batery was empty
before doing the update it showed around 50% so i wasnt thinking about it, but it seems i died during the update
now - i cannot turn my phone on, its stuck on htc logo, i can access bootloader mode, it says i have hboot 1,12
radio 5.1204.162,29
the bootloader is locked
could someone tell me in simple steps how to bring it alive? is it even possible?
I havent flashed my one x in a while, but try charge it as much as you can while in recovery or bootloader mode.
Then try unlocking the bootloader using htcdev and Hasoons all in one toolkit from the dev section.
That will help you get a custom recovery installed and allow you to reinstall another firmware.
Not sure how much you already know so I apologise if this is basic info haha.
Also dont forget to flash the boot.img if you go with a custom rom
Good luck

Return it for repair if you can. Unlocking bootloader is the hard way out if you ask me.

A ruu might be a way out, but it's a long shot because the ruu doesn't need a unlocked bootloader.

I completely forgot about RUUs. You need to get the one that matches your CID

Sending it for repair isnt really an option as i bought the device and now im leaving the uk.
so they would send it back to me as ill be in another country.
also i opened it as i had the anthena problem but i solved it.
software speaking, as that is the problem, is it harf to fix?
i had couple of androids and customized all of them, but im new to htc and all that ruu,cids...
i dont mind custom rom, right now i just want to recover any functionality.
So if the ruu is the easiest way out is there a newbie tutorial? as i cant find it
and is unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery ans rom is so complicated to other devices?
i dont.know.what do you nean by flashing boot.img while flashing rom
When you run an ruu the computer end of it walks you through what to do. Make sure you have latest version of htc sync installed and do exactly what it says. Also returning it is the best option under normal circumstances. I did exactly that when ota wrecked my shift
