Hey guys ,
This is my first post and I was directed here as the experts will be around . I need your help guys to upgrade my phone Galaxy nexus . I have never did any thing on it . It has the following information that might help you guys to help me
Android version 4.0.4
Kernel version 3.0.8-gda6252b
build number imm76k.i9250jple1
I saw some phones that are rooted and have this wonderful images of Roms . I need to try them but I don't know how
I have downloaded the toolkit program but I dont know what ROM shall I select ?? which one is the best ?
Please guys , teach me how and let me start his journey with you
waiting your heeeeeeelp
start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959
recs for a n00b
Since you've never rooted or used a custom ROM before I suggest starting with either mROM or MMuzzy's ROMs. They are close to stock but will get you to Android version 4.2.1
mROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763823
MMuzzy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762846
Remember to MAKE A NANDROID. After you use the toolkit to unlock, root, etc. boot into recovery and MAKE A BACKUP. Also, when you root/unlock it factory resets your phone, so anything not on the SD card that you want to keep, backup to your computer.
This is the thread which completely helped when I was new to rooting and all this stuff. No further help was needed. The methods are very well explained here.

Thanks guys for your active response ..
I followed every step until I plug my mobile in the fast mode , my computer asks me for drivers .!!!
I have tried to ignore it and I continued the step to flush the ROM , but finally it gives me a message as " Waiting for your Device " >>
Guys ..any idea ??

I'm glad you're using fastboot.
Search for naked drivers.
Or use the guide in my Sig or stickied at the top of this forum.

1. use these drivers.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
2. no you need custom recovery and unlcoked bootloader to flash roms
3. read one of these threads to understand more about rooting, and flashing roms so you dont mess up your phone

efrant and jubakuba have both written guides. I suggest not using the tool kit until you know how to use adb/fastboot.

Hello !
First of all I want to thank hasoon2000 for its beautiful tutorial that introduced!
[TOOL] HTC Wildfire S All-In-One Toolkit V2.1 [1-23-2013] [PERM ROOT] [Noob-Proof]
This tutorial helped me a lot!
I followed the 5 steps on the left .. Now I'm stuck on the implementation of the recovery ... I don't know which installed. Could you help me on this?
Then, once the recovery is established. Can I take any tutorial forum?
For example, this one? (I'm a noob on HTC... I usually work on Samsung ^^')
And I also have trouble with the phone memory ... It is quickly saturated. I added an 8 GB SD card, and I wonder if it is possible to transfer data to the phone memory so that it is no longer saturated and the phone is faster ...
Thank you very much for all the work you do!

Bro there are basically 2 recoveries for this device CWM and TWRP..........
If you have a GSM handset you can use TWRP 2.3.3.0 or if u want to flash CWM recovery you can use "Your Own recovery" option but you need to have CWM latest recovery image for that...

Hello,
Thank you for your answer!
So following the five steps to the left, I can put any recovery on my phone. But if I want to, eventually, install a custom rom or other, should I favor one?
Thanks

Hi all,
I've just watched the xdadevelopers videos on unlocking the boot loader and rooting the phone, and three things confused me:
1. On the unlocking the boot loader video, he goes to fastboot mode, then plugs in the usb cable and says " there are some driver links I'll put down below - I'll link an xda forum thread about how to do this if you do need some written instruction". Where is this forum thread and where are the driver links. He doesn't mention anything at all about a driver except for this, so I'm a bit confused.
2. I've downloaded the SDK and when I open the SDK Manager it actually has a status of installed on most of the items. Should I just click all the Tools and all items for my preferred OS and install them?
3. In the 'how to root your phone' video, he runs recovery, then gets the clockword mod. Then he says that you have to have placed the zip file from the xda webpage onto the internal memory of the HTC one". Then you can install the zip. But what zip file is he talking about? Up until this stage, there is no mention of a zip file placed on the phone's memory.
Thanks all.

This MAY brick your phone. DO NOT USE you can unbrick with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-brick-soft-hard-bricked-zenfone-2-t3284256
OP be careful of what you do to your device. I would research it more before jumping into anything, because you do have a potential to brick the device.
Thanks

Why return to 5.0 só fast...is more easy wait for oficial ota of 6.0.1 and do adb sideload!
I want to downgrade as well, I've found several guides, but I'm afraid I'll brick my phone.
I saw in one place that sideloading the stock 5.0 firmware from the asus website could work... would this be a valid solution? Would it be as simple as sideload with adb the stock 5.0 firmware, if I'm in the 6.0 already?

Hi, I do not speak English very well, but I'll try.
First go to the website of Asus, and download the firmware .. 184 or this link (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Ze...user.zip?_ga=1.147549438.850793534.1463019251) and put the external SD Card!!!
NOTE: If your bootloader is similar to the image (with the blue letters ..), you just need to step 3 of this my turorial
ht*tp://www*androidheadlines*com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/asus-zenfone-2-google-howto-1.jpg (remove "*" again^^)
1. Go to this page (https://www.techmesto.com/root-zenfone-2/) and follow the steps of the second method..
1.1 Download Z00A_WW_2.20.40.184 version (https://mega.co.nz/#F!k4MHiAgL!dVuOKeH3eokcwPSNI79ffw)
1.2 Download and extract FlashTools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3301263&d=1431011927)
1.3 Extract Z00A_WW_2.20.40.184_system_w_root.zip (for step 1.1) and put the "system.img" in the folder of FlashTools together with "boot.img", "droidboot.img" and "recovery.img"
2. Now follow the steps of the second method (https://www.techmesto.com/root-zenfone-2/), from step 7 to 11;
3. Also I was stuck in the bootloader after this procedure... BUT, you need to download this file (the first method): http://www.mediafire.com/download/v6m7n9j0gqins9b/CWM_Zenfone_2_Intel.zip;
3.1 And follow the steps from 1 to 9 (the first method): https://www.techmesto.com/root-zenfone-2/... EXCEPT: The steps include the root (you do not need the root ..)
3.2 When you are already in CWM recovery, only install the firmware 184 (of start.. of Asus) which is in the external SD Card ... and end ^^.
3.3 I recommend wipe data / factory after starting the device first time...

The only weird thing... the Mail app (Asus email) is missing. I found somewhere the apk file, and I did a sideload of it, and it works. But if I check on the computer the Google Play store, it says that the app is incompatible with my device...

Bootloop is normal as seen on the tutorial.
I think that's normal since Asus will replace their default mail app to Gmail once MM final is release. same goes for my phone, Asus Mail doesn't come preinstalled.

Here a other Solution for your Problem.
I think this work to 95%!
Download this File:
- Official RUU by HTC for the M8QL_UL -
Make then this:
1/ I say again, download this File,
2/ Connect your M8s with your PC,
3/ Save the .zip File on your external SD Card (microSD),
4/ disconnect your M8s with the PC,
5/ Reboot in the Bootloader and
6/ Wait for the instructions on your Touchscreen.
7/ That`s all but you must before your M8s advance enough Charge!
8/ I wish you good Luck.
When you have again Problems, sure then write here!

You need to save the zip file to SD card. Load boot loader and use volume buttons to chose opkv.img file and press power. Back to stock and then try recovery twrp or other.
