Hi Guys. I have a one X, that has a version of android revolution about 3 months old on it.
Today, when I try to boot up, the phone gets stuck at the HTC logo.
I can get into CWM recovery (5.8.3.1 - I have tried:
wipe davlik, wipe cache ,
fix permissions..
& wipe data/factory reset,
but.. still it gets stuck at the android screen
I have no cwm backups and no rom zips on the phone..
how do I go about pushing a fresh rom to the phone.. ?? I am at a bit of a loss..
If I go advanced / mount usb storage (from cwm), I get
E:\unable to open ums lunfile...(no such file...
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks,
Dean.
Update the the latest version of CWM, it was last updated in June, it fixes mounting USB.
Try reflash your kernel as well.
Update CWM to the latest , 5.8.4.0 and then fresh install the latest 9.4.1 ARHD available Should work fine
After updating to 5.8.4.0, do from pc a
Fastboot erase cache

Use the latest CWM recovery, has the ability to mount memory on USB, or install an RUU, and start all over again, both possible
And by the way, always have a custom ROM in your memory for this situations

Hmm... I have the CWM 5.8.3.1 (touch recovery). When i try to "Mount USB Storage" i get an error message reading
E: Unable to open UMS Lunfile(No such file or directory)
I also did try to Partition and format SD Card...
Should i use a different(lesser) version of the CWM recovery or a different recovery all together...
Thanks,
Satya

CWM 5.8.4.0 supports USB while in recovery under advanced tab. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819
Might be worthwhile in the future keeping a rom you know works locally so if worst happens to can recover to it for the time being.
didnt' work for me
I was having the same problem. I updated my recovery to 5.8.4.0 and then cleared cache. Still stuck in boot loop. I can't get to the recovery to re-install rom. Any other suggestions?

have you flashed the boot.img that came with the rom
I have the International version of the One X and I tried to flash CM9 to it today. Everything was fine until I booted it up and it got stuck on the boot screen. Thought it wouldn't be a problem and I'd just try redoing the steps.. However, every time I select recovery from the bootloader, it restarts my phone. If I then hold the power button, it will turn off and then restart without me telling it too. The only way I can switch it off is by quickly booting into the bootloader and selecting 'Power Down'. Any help or guidance would be appreciated!
Have you tried "fastboot erase cache" without the commas
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA venom premium
Yes. Didn't change anything. Still stuck on the bootscreen and restarts everytime I enter recovery. Just tried reflashing recovery too.
Could Installing the stock bootloader and starting again help? or will that make no difference?
Is there any way of completely clearing the system without using recovery?
Did you flash the boot.img in fastboot
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA venom premium
Yes, However I fixed the bootup problem by using the following:
1.) Wiped with fastboot rather than recovery:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase webtop
fastboot erase preinstall
2.) Re-flash recovery (fixed booting into recovery (ONLY when fastboot wipe is done)):
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3.) Re-flash boot kernel:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4.) Flash ROM and GApps using recovery
This worked fine BUT everytime I try and power down my phone it automatically restarts. This is incredibly annoying. The only way I can get it to turn off is to boot into fastboot and select power off. If my phone is plugged in it will still reboot after about 10 seconds which means I can't charge it unless it's on.
At least you got your main problem sorted

Clockwork Touch 5.8.2.4
I've just seen that the ROM I've been using (TripNDroid's) has been updated to version 005. Working Wi-Fi!
Just spent the whole day setting up my phone.. Kinda annoying.
I'm gunna try flashing that and see if it fixes the problem. Will post here when I've tried it

Now I remember. Problem is with touch recovery. Only install 5.8.4.0.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Installed Touch Recovery 5.8.4.0. Phone still reboots when switched off and cannot boot into recovery mode.
Boots up fine so it mostly isn't an issue but I was hoping to do a nandroid backup via recovery which is looking unlikely.
When i flashed cm9 for the first time, i got the same issue, i was stuck at boot screen...but at least i could boot into recovery, and from there, i used android revolution hd superwipe script, and then did the flashing process again...worked fine after that. So my main point is, if u can boot into recovery, from there you need to do a wipe script or wipe data/factory reset and THEN flash cm9...

Appreciated any help I can get here.
I'm attempting to flash my first custom ROM by following the instructions here (http://drippler.com/updates/share/how-unlock-root-install-custom-rom-your-htc-one-x).I've got to point 5 and instead of copying the zip file and boot.img to my phone I stupidly went and carried out the 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' command first. The result is the phone just hangs on the boot screen.
I can get back into recovery OK, but after a couple of hours searching I'm struggling to see how I can resolve this. I have tried a full restore from recovery but it didn't work.
I assume I have to put the boot.img and ROM zip file back on the phone and repeat the process. I cannot find a way to enable me to do this as I cant seem to mount the phone on the PC.
Thanks in advance.
You can mount the sdcard as a usb mass storage device inside the recovery. What recovery do you have ?
You flashed the new boot.img already ? All you have to do is enter the recovery and perform a full wipe before you install the new rom. Of the rom is not on the phone sd you mount it first and copy the rom over. Then continue to install it

I have Clockmod v5.8.1.8
No I didn't transfer the boot.img file from the new ROM to the phone. I just typed 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' into the command prompt. The new boot.img file was in the fastboot folder.

Flash the above recovery, you have an old one that does not support usb mass storage !
Ow and the boot.img does not have to be on the phone, only the rom.zip to install it. The boot.img file is only flashed in fastboot as you did. No need to do anything else.
When you enter the new recovery you go to
MOUNTS & STORAGE - mount as mass storage device (most bottom option)

OK, thank you. New recovery installed, zip file transferred. Wipe cache partition & Wipe Dalvik Cache completed. Install from zip file completed. Re-boot and it still hangs.
I'm using the CM10 nightly from 17/2/2013 if this presents a problem at all?
I've also tried 'fastboot erase cache', which has no effect either.
Flash this boot.img
http://db.tt/uDdWaAtH
Also wipe everything ! Also data factory reset and under mounts and storage - format cache, data, system
Otherwise it will not boot again

Appreciate you taking time to help me out. Thank you. Were still not there though, it's still hanging on the first boot screen.
The CM10 zip file is only 171MB which seems awfully small to me. I'm currently downloading the Viper Rom 3.3.7 which is 625MB. Could this be part of the issue? Am I trying to flash just an update and not full ROM?
Nope, AOSP ROMs are small in size. The zip you have is legitimate full ROM.

Thank you, that's that theory out of the window, I think this bloody phone may follow it !
Try this.....
First in recovery do
Wipe data factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the rom.zip, dont reboot and install directly the gapps.zip
Then you type
Adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot.img again (for cm10 the modded one)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
*fingers crossed*

BTW I respond slow because I work for a living.

Keep your pants on mate, it was just a joke....
Hi there,
today I definitely ****ed up my phone.
So: I tried the Ice Cold Jelly 4.3 CR, everything worked, but it was pretty unstable and the batterylife was horrible.
So I decided to go back to ARHD 31.3 but in a hurry I forgot to flash the boot.img ( kinda dumb ).
So now I'm stuck in the bootloader and ( I don't know why ) the phone doesn't get recognized by my PC ( Win 8.1 ), the recovery doesn't work ( CWM 5.8.x.x ) and the phone doesn't boot in the installed Rom ( of course ).
Any Ideas? thx

Well thanks a lot, but this doesn't help me, because, as I already wrote, the phone doesn't get recognized by my pc, so there is no fastboot commands possible.
Pc says the connected usb device seems to be broken please reconnect and try again
And what happens if you go in recovery to mounts and storage and mount the phone to the pc?
If it doesnt work out I suggest you flash philz recovery which also has updated touch drivers. The phone should pop up and you'll be able to copy a Rom to flash.
If that doesnt work reinstall drivers.

When I trie to get into recovery the phone loads CWM and shows it for a sec, but reboots as if it would crash.
So there is no Recovery to load into.
I can't install another recovery because the phone doesn't get out of fastboot mode.
I tried nearly al kind of drivers but none of em worked.

Pretty sure it will, after you have enough battery to flash stuff
flash philz touch recovery (recommended)
go to mounts & storage > mount usb storage
take a ROM zip of your choice and copy it once it recognizes.
Do a full wipe
flash the .zip file
reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img
My phone is a HTC ONE X, I recently unclocked it bootloader, then rooted the phone using CLOCLWORKMOD 5.8.3.1 recovery.
I downloaded a CYANOGENMOD 11 NIGHTLY (which maybe runs on 4.4.4 kikkat as i saw) , when i went to my phone's recovery mode, i actually wiped my phone's data and wiped my cache and dalvik cache everything, the problem is that when i installed my CYANOGENMOD my phone is constantly giving status 7 error. I cannot even use the mount usb system from my CLOCKWORKMOD recovery because I get the ''cannot open ums lunfile'' bla bla error. Thus I soft bricked my phone i guess because i can only get my phone booted to the recovery mode only and the phone stucks in the HTC QUIELTY BRILLIANT logo and then boots back to recovery, it happened yesterday and i have searched everything but couldnt figure out what to do.
Please help what should i do to get my phone to normal?

flash the boot.img from the rom, even if you have already done it, via fastboot command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" then "fastboot erase cache" and then try the rom again, and to answer your question, I have waited sometimes only a couple of minutes up to about 15 mins for some roms to boot
