Check to see if your imei number is still there. Settings, about phone, status. If it's blank you'll need to restore it via the methods in the android development section.

Did you guys do a factory reset after installing the OTA? i know this solved it on the international version.
Yea tried that too
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
I was having the same issue and thought it was caused by the OTA update.
It was really a problem with the SIM card being not being properly inserted or being dirty.
I took it out, cleaned contacts and inserted it again, pushing hard (not too hard or you might damage the "eject" mechanism).
Before this "fix" I got this error every few hours, after I did this a few days ago I haven't seen the error.
I get this too but at random times... and its not frequent enough for me to have issues with it.

I started having this problem again. I looked at logcat and in three occasions just before the error in saw an error that mentioned some thermal protection.
Every time it said processor speed could not be set to 1.5 ghz and a couple of times there was also something about the modem and some thermal protection being available.
Every time phone was hot because media scanner was using to much resources.
I'll try to get a copy of the log and will post it here.
I'm on jb li3.

Tell her to suffer and stop bothering you until she lets you root it.
I'm jp I can't think of any extra steps to take if you have already done a factory reset.

I flashed bigxie's 4.2 image last night and everything ran fine, or so I thought. As soon as I left my house in the am and I wasn't getting any data. Calls and texts were going no problem. Thought maybe it was a bad flash or something. Reflashed. Same problem. Returned to stock 4.2 using the toolkit and still the same problem. So I restored to 4.1.2 stock and I finally had data again. I flashed the cataclysm 4.2 ROM and no data again. Flashed latest CNA and I have data.
Does my phone just not like 4.2?? What's going on here??

Yeah I flashed XXLH1 last night. My first thought was bad radio flash. downloaded again and reflashed - same problem. Thought maybe my old radio would work so I flashed XXLF1 on but still had the data problem.

check apn settings if everything looks fine then try to reflash the image
Anthing look weird in your wireless or APN settings? Where did you get the radio?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah I played with the APN but the settings were the same as always. And I got the radio first from bigxie's link but then I grabbed the new and old one from the sticky

Not sure if the problem is fixed or not but everything is working. Here's what I did in case anyone else needs help with this same problem.
I restored to 4.1.2 using the toolkit and then waited until the phone got the ota and updated using that to 4.2 (I did this the first time and had data, then went into the settings and did a factory restore and ended up with no data. So I repeated the process without the restore and it all worked.) I then used the toolkit to root and install CWM recovery. Still running stock 4.2 but everything is working and I am a bit nervous in flashing a custom rom until I can figure out if it may have just been a ATT problem in my area or some kind of glitch with my phone.
Hope this helps anyone else that may have the same weird problem.
Noob here. I'm running synergyrom for the multiscreen function but it keeps dropping calls and I can't send text messages. I have rebooted, taken the battery out and all and it works for a sec till 4g lte kicks in then it stops working. I am new and my buddy rooted this for me. Any help would be great.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
hm maybe it's the rom? I would head over to the synergy thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113436 and ask over there maybe others have had the same or similar problems.
I would bet money that your imei was erased. Go to settings , about device , status. Is your imei 00000000 or does it have numbers.

While a great VZW rom it still has some bugs to work out for us GSM folk. I suggest you make a nandroid backup in your recovery and install something like CSROM, i747z, or maybe darthstalker. Great first time custom rom's that are easy to install and do. CSROM even has a aroma installer and its practically fool proof.
Have you flashed a rom before ? If not feel free to PM and I can help you out some

You or your buddy need to fix that IMEI before your phone can do anything. There is a sticky in the Development section on how to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777915
I suggest you go to the above thread. Try the second link and read the part for corrupted imei with out a back up. There is a tool that let's you type in your imei number ( which is under your battery ) and it will create the nv file and follow the instructions on how to push it to your phone.
Since your already on synergy ROM you must already have a custom recovery installed. Once you get your imei restored get a different ROM. Synergy ROM has corrupted a lot of imei's this week.

Hello,
I have the international note II, trying to use it on tmobile's network.
However, the phone constantly thinks it's roaming. Googling around has this problem coming up a lot with the S3 but not everything for that seems to work with the Note II. I've tried setting up the APN with and without proxies enabled, tried fiddling with other mobile network settings and then resetting everything back to default. All to no avail. Help? x.x
Running the stock OS (4.1.1)
Update the os first of all. And try factory reset.

No joy on the reset. As for the update... I just get the "Access to update is provided in the order the request is received. Please try again later." thing.

Well this has been quite the adventure...
Flashed the stock firmware... no joy. Although I note that all my apps and stuff are there even after, but Odin said was it successful and rebooted it. That normal?
Yeah. Absolutely normal.
Try rebooting without sim card or some other aim card.
Try removing all apns and try another network mode.
Last resort is to factory reset.

Don't have another sim card but I did try rebooting without it. Also tried the mobile network stuff... all to no avail. Tried the reset before posting here, that didn't work either :/
As it technically works, just with the annoying notices and roaming screen, I might just live with it. Thanks for all the suggestions though.
Yeah but you'll have to pay roaming charges

Well, no actually. It's still using tmobile's network even if the phone thinks it's roaming, and tmob doesn't have domestic roaming charges anyway. So it's very annoying, but ultimately only cosmetic. But it looks like it can't be helped...
Id you really want to try for one last time.
Clear cache and dalvik and data including internal storage and system.
Then flash stock rom for your country.

Your fine ! Just that Kitkat is all the rage, so I assumed you were on that too.
Try this : Settings >>> Apps >>>>ALL... Find the settings running app. Then CLEAR CACHE. You cannot clear data though.
Hope it helps !
Also, Philz latest (I think 6.14 or 6.16) has some bugs. I would just flash a generic CWM. TWRP latest also is buggy.
Thanks Man I appreciate your help. I'm not so sure about the e980 and KitKat yet on ATT sounds pretty buggy so I'm still holding off.

Hey community, I need your help here pretty bad. I was running the aicp 7.0 release but ended up flashtooling back to bone stock. I am getting constant and random reboots. Sometimes it is a bootloop, sometimes it gets to the att logo, sometimes it makes it to my home screen, and sometimes I can actually use it for 10 or 15 minutes but it always fails and reboots. Is there anything I can try? I am totally stumped. I figured a tot file flash back to stock would have solved this but it didn't. It almost seems like a hardware failure but I have never dropped it, got it wet nothin. Another real odd deal is when I can't get it to come out of a loop, if I take the back cover off it will start up. I thought maybe it was the connection on the back cover so I put a piece of tape over it but it still does it, but even now it is working with the back cover off but randomly reboots. Its always like this, my signal drops to no bars with the red x and then freezes then reboots. Sometimes it's when I wake it up, and sometimes it's when I start a program. Can anyone please give me some hope?
