Tried importing contacts from my Verizon to Google but numbers end up in notes rather than where its supposed to. So if anyone has the apk or knows where I could get it is appreciate it. Thanks.

are you asking for the verizon backup assistant app thats in the play store? Or something else ? BTW , why don't you turn on the backup and restore feature that backs up to google with your gmail account ? It works great and much easier to deal with than verizons service

How can I install original google contacts and sms application? I extract these apps from CM9 zip, but I can't install them.
You mean you want to install cm9 apps in stock rom???????
If so it can't be done just like that because the cm9 apps require the cm9 framework.

SMS/MMS can be downloaded in the play store, aswell as Calendar.

I'm looking for Contacts too now :-/
Thanks. I prefer Google apps than TouchWizzzz.

Danger! Since I install these apps I have an extra international sms in my build. Don't install.

Then you can extract the contacts apk and make it work in any device, and put it here for free. Will check here if you upload it. Thanks

you get the legal issues, right?
That user is not allowed to sell googles work as his/her own and therefore it should be removed from the market imho. Thanks.
In need of some advice from someone much smarter than me:
I am trying to figure out a solution for the small contact photos with Google contacts. I'm aware that there is an app to modify this, however it is paid and might eventually be updated by Google.
I know that if using TMobile contacts, the photos arent downscaled.
I am running Juggs 5.0 and tried to install the app from Play Store, but it says "Incompatible with device".
Any suggestions?

Did you change your screen density by chance?
Most of the "Incompadible with device" issues are because people lower the dpi from stock 240 to something lower.
Not sure why anyone would use that junk. Google sync completely removed the need for T-Mobile sync. Not even sure why they put it on there. That's why most custom roms take it out.

I recently flashed a new rom on my girls GS2 and she now is telling me that she is missing several hundred contacts. i asked her if they were all tied to her google account and she told me that they were until now. she's had several other androids in the past and always had all the contacts transfer just fine. I work for T-Mobile and i have seen this issue in a couple of other devices before but have never been able to come up with any sort of rhyme or reason as to what, why, or how this is happening. can anyone shed some light on this for me? and if anyone knows a way to possibly recover those missing contacts that would help me out greatly. plus, it kinda worries me to think that one day if i flash a new rom onto my phone i may log in only to find i have lost all of my contacts......
thanks
josh

thats the big issue, they deleted out of her google account completely. on the phone and online. she had something like 800 contacts (crazy i know) the other day and now she only has around 250. ive seen this happen with a few of my customers phones at work as well where one day they have contacts stored to gmail then suddenly they are gone. its very strange.
Umm were they mostly guys number?
Are you sure it wasn't part of fb of fb contact sync?

I am having the same problem. Phone was setup to sync contacts to gmail... but now its gone off phone and off gmail.
If I recall correctly, Google has an option to revert to previous versions of contacts up to 30 days ago. Maybe that would work?

Russian smashed across the interwebz from my Galaxy SII.
I've had Google voice since I've had a droid 1so i know it worked before. I've had my gnex for more than a year and had no problems (different ROMs too). It just stopped working all of a sudden. I signed out, I uninstalled it. It says my carrier doesn't support it. I've always had Verizon.
I've gone to the help thing it gives me. That didn't do anything. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, any suggestions?

Update: so i called my Google voice number with another phone and it works. But if I call my cell number it goes to my Verizon Voicemail. Idk why or how.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You might try going to the Google voice site. Login and go to your phone listing in the settings. I am next to your mobile should be a link for deactivating voice mail. I'd click that, ignore what it says next and click okay, then click activate again and punch in the code it gives you to setup forwarding again. It sounds like that might have gotten lost some how.
If it doesn't say deactivate then just do the activate process again. I haven't always had the best luck with the app setting the settings correctly so this might help.
Good luck!

Wouldn't it auto update anyway? Why you hate hangouts? Its pretty much everything talk was plus tons more...
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
I was able to find the Talk Apk. Auto-update is easily preventable by setting it not to do so.
Talk is far, far more visually appealing and navigable. When chatting with someone, I find it impossible to side swipe to the user list screen for some reason. Hangouts is just another example of trying to "fix" something that wasn't broken. What is the "tons" more you refer to? It still hasn't merged SMS, which would actually have been useful.
I bet you like the new Maps too and the loss of layer functionality?

No it does not if you disable auto-updates.
Here is Google talk.

Perhaps to you. I do like the new maps it seems to lock quicker. No need for the attitude... I find the navigation much easier with the swiping and I love the look of the application. Its far easier to add people from your contacts as well as the different levels of navigation within the application. Love how easy it is overall versus talk. The new maps application lost a feature I don't use... Not saying its alright for all but your attitude sucks...

Could anyone using this tell me what version of Talk this is? Also the best way to remove Hangouts would be to delete it via TiBu?

You can remove this by TB. Will work fine.
But as @cstrife999 mentioned, I also just remove apk from system/app/ folder.

Titanium backup says it's version 4.2.2-612687 (330)
just uninstall hangouts, and it should revert to talk. that's been my experience.
hangouts sucks. i still can't easily see who's online and who isn't, that's a huge PITA.

With the new update you should be able to see who is online. I know I can.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
I just checked and I still think they need to improve on that. I'd like it if they showed the online status in the opened hangouts window instead of just the new hangouts window.
If they did that then it's worth switching to, but as it stands, talk is still superior in online chat in my opinion.

Yep, that's what I did on my N7 (2013). However, I backed it up first just in case and THEN delete it.
One thing I hate about Hangout is that BY DEFAULT, ALL conversation are recorded. I can disable this, but only per conversation instead of the default option. So I have to disable this for EVERY single chat windows, both old and new ones.
Hangouts irritated the hell out of me as well. After using Talk for a couple of years, the update to Hangouts drove me straight to WhatsApp.

Does talk work on 4.4?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hangout is a bit quirky, as I've yet to figure out how to send an SMS directly through the app, but it's much more feature packed than Talk I think.
Can someone point me in the right direction? I basically have to go into my Contacts and just choose to send a message. There's got to be a way to do it through Hangout itself though, right?
