Question about 4.1 ROMs - HTC One X

All of the ROMs I have tried are great. I keep going back to AOKP though because for me, it's perfect. I just have a question though: Why won't they save settings I make? For example, I use Perfect Keyboard. Every time I reboot, it resets back to the default. Also, I usually drop the CPU down to about 860-1000 MHz but again, every time I reboot, it goes back to the default. The only thing that saves are sounds, display and ROM control settings.

Don't need to reboot. Screen off and on will set them back. One devs response was and quote "f...king nvidia".

Thanks. One more question, you know how the Franco kernel has the app that lets you select the number of actove cores? What app lets you do that with other kernels. I bought System Tuner Pro but I can't figure out how to do it.

I tried that but I don't see a way to limit the cores that are active. Useful app though. Thank you.
Thanks, tgascoigne. That was pissing me off immensely.

By selecting 2 3 or 4 you are limiting the number if cores that CAN become active.

That option isn't available in my version of that app. I'm adding a screen shot of the way my app looks.
Also, why do I not get notified for voicemails anymore? I'm with Bell in Ontario and on Sense ROMs, I get the little voicemail icon at the top and a text message letting me know of the voicemail but on AOSP/AOKP.CM10 4.0 and 4.1 ROMs, I get nothing. Thanks for all your help.

I use no frills cpu control and it works fine, i couldn't get core control setting to stick. No frills doesn't give you the option to limit the cores but i personally didn't get much battery improvement by limiting to 2cores anyway.

Weird. Is there a different version than mine? Mine has 2-cores, 3-cores, 4-cores shown as buttons on the top of the screen. Can't upload a picture with xda premium. Don't know why.
Also, I think you can still use franco's app to change the number of active cores for other kernels.

I can't directly answer your question, but why don't you just use SetCPU like everyone else? No need to fish through the settings, just a simple app.

Everyone else? I don't see the point in paying for an app if the rom already has cpu oc settings built in. I'm sure we aren't the only 2

You can download SetCPU for free from a thread on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
I bought it from the market well before I found it on XDA, but I would've bought it anyways to show support
I don't need bloat in my CPU throttler. I've been using No-frills CPU Control lately but having it cooked into the ROM is even better.
Well, like you said, its already cooked into the rom right? If you don't even wanna get setcpu for free on xda, I don't see why you're complaining about pressing a little ok button. The app isnt bloat at all and its pretty convinient. You can even set profiles so that the phone's cpu voltage will increase and decrease as conditions are met.

how do you get it for free on XDA?
If you're running Launcher Pro you can create a shortcut directly to the CPU settings screen which will bypass the warning screen. Long press desktop > Shortcuts > Activities > CyanogenMod Settings > scroll down and tap CPU Settings > Name it whatever > click Ok.
You can also do the same thing to the Launcher Pro dock. Long press on an icon/empty slot > Change Shortcut > Activities > same steps as above.
You might be able to do this in other launchers, not sure about them though.

I agree with the OP... need a way to get rid of the warning msg if possible...
regarding getting setCPU... and dont get me wrong i already bought the app from the market since the time we only had temp root... but if you go through the CM development thread you'll c that this issue has been discussed extensively before both on the thread and on the IRC channel and the general consensus was that sticking with the overclocking module built into the CM ROM is better than going with an additional app to do the job (not sure of the exact reasons though)... and now that is exactly what I am doing even though I miss the profiles of setCPU...
so back to the main topic of this thread... is there a way to get rid of that warning msg for good...

Sense crashing

Is anyone else having a problem with Sense continually crashing? Almost every other time I go into an app and use it for any length of time, when I exit the app Sense has crashed and I have to watch the stupid loading animation while it restarts. It's happening really regularly.

Incredible how much ram Sense is taking up.
I figured it would take less considering it's more stream lined to look at compared to say Sense 3.
At times it feels like we've got two operating systems competing with each other for resources but slapped together.
It's definitely not ram related. It just did it again with 313 mb free.

Hi globalgpj, can you tell me how you disabled auto updates? I got my new device yesterday and I find that my touch screen and buttons become unresponsive fairly often. The only solution is to press the power button briefly to switch off the screen and on again and the response is ok.
Thanks.
I had this problem too 1st time i started my phone.
What helped for me was a complete system restore and skip the setup-wizard and do all that manually one in SENSE.

If this bothers you return the phone. Htc has had this issue since the Sensation. It will rear its head at some point. It's because Sense uses too much ram and isn't locked in memory so Android will dump it from ram to make room for other apps and then it has to reload which takes longer than most launchers. This reason alone is why I'm staying away from Sense. Try using an 3rd party launcher and it'll work better.

You don't understand. This issue has been confirmed by many people on Sensation running Gingerbread and ICS including me. Adding a line to the build file forcing Sense to be locked in memory. The moment you remove that line (how it is by default) it starts happening.
It's fine, just don't expect this issue to be fixed because to htc its not an issue. It's just the way it is.

I can't remember exactly. But it did solve my problem of sense constantly loading which causes lag or delay in sense loading.
However, check the following:
Go into settings, and at the very bottom is Developer options. Click this option. Then see if this item is ticked :"Show screen updates"... if it is ticked, untick it.
The only thing I have ticked in this option is "Animation", everything else is unticked.
The other thing I also do, is I try not to have my widgets updated constantly. I have my emails checked only every 3 hours, my news reader, greader pro, every 12 hours.
Let me know if this has helped you.

I believe you can only use this script with a rooted device. Is that correct ?
Many people with HTC One X may be locked into a carrier for some period of time and therefore on a Stock ROM !
adding echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 to the local.prop solved the problem on my Desire Z, luckily temproot was enough to edit the file.
I don't suppose there is a way to temproot the One X yet?! I'm not interested in perm rooting my One just yet... I'm too fond of my 2yrs. warranty

what u might wanna do is download voltage control and see if it isnt effecting ure speeds performance, alot has to do with overclocking and upscaling and downscaling when u do roms specially if uve installed kernels with OC on it. make sure that settings are corect, like governor section is to this category
500000 SA
90-95 for UP
10 DD
4 SDF
0 for both INL and PB
1 to IIB thats normal upscaling to governor
also make sure that ure settings arent set to low other then ondemand, or powersave, best once that seem to help are ondemand and msm-dcvs if voltage supports it. second section should be at cfq.
, if that doesnt fix it, u might wanna try a different rom if that doesnt fixes the problem, other whize u gonna have to odin back to stock do a factory reset from ure phone not the CWM do it 2 or 3 times, and re-try again and see if that fixs it.
Im not a dev so im not a pure expert at this but i go by how my phone functions with every rom i flash and the performance it gives, ive found both Phantom blaze and paranoid android roms seem to be the best for me. i switch back and forth to each other because i like the phablet mode on paranoid, and smooth and impressive battery life saver on phantoms. No kernels, other then what already comes with, except for the 2100mhz load krnel that supports for paranoid android,. seriously battery killer thought if u OC it to 2100.

either u might have a faulty GS3 or ure software installation went utterly wrong while updating and messed up somewhere in the middle of the installation. did u get it updated already or did u get it when it was using lg2 modem?
if u got it with the LG8 modem, try odin it back to LG2 or lower, and update from there, see if that helps.
u dont need to worry bout ure flash count going up because samsung software doesnt count on ure flash count no matter how many times u flash the Stock modem.
Um idk what that means. All I know is I have everything updated via updates and every S3 does this if it's stock. This is my second and it does it to. Set the picture frame widget or flip board widget medium to your home screen then do a nenamark

humm,...couldnt tell yah, if uve never rooted ure phone and are using stock software u might have a faulty gs3 with faulty software, ive never had my gs3 mess up on me on stock rom before i rooted. Well I would personally think there's someone who knows how to fix this.. visually there's no difference. But after nenamark once I remove the widget I drop to 30 fps. And it stays that way. Its like it was mention above, there really isnt anything any of the devs can do, if ure not rooted, and ure arent operating under a custom rom, ure pretty much using stock base software which only has to do with normal built development done by samsung, they should be ones u should be contacting not the devs here.......they only deal with phones with root and custom roms to make the phone better. Now u could try rooting ure phone and installig a custom rom to see if that does fix the problem, in most cases like ures, only thing to do is take it in to a sprint store and have it inspect or do it ureself odin it with a earlier version of modem, best 1 would be LG2 modem and update from there and see if that changes anything, i can garante u if u do take it to sprint they might charge u to inspect it again, and all they gonna do is odin ure phone from an earlier versions.

If you're stock non-rooted, then after a factory reset, there's nothing you could have done to mess this up.
If you go to a sprint store, they can reflash your stock software and see if that fixes the issue. It takes about 3 minutes, and in my experience, they've been very courtesy and helpful.

Try opening the settings>apps>launcher and clearing the cache and deleting the launchers data.
Widgets are stored in the launcher apps data, so clearing these values should put you back to default settings.

Lag when typing

Does anyone here get lag when you first begin to type something in the address bar or when using google search? Almost happens everytime but when I type my first few letters they dont quite show up right away and take a few secs to register. Im on CM10, I've tried using other keyboards but it happens with them all.

Change your governor to interactive, then increase your input frequency using TricksterMOD from Play Store. This will boost your clockspeed when you touch the screen. I set mine at 1GHz

This was a problem that I had CM with every keyboard I would use. It was one of the reasons I tried a different roms to see if it was CM that was causing it. Right now i am using RasBeanJelly with franco.Kernel. I have it set to 230min and 1.2ghz max on interactive. I have no keyboard lag at all. This rom has been one of the best roms I have ever used. CM was just a lag fest for me all the time not sure why since CM has been great in the past.
