Although I LOVE meXdroidMod pre-ghostChili, I have to get rid of it because of battery life. :/
Can anyone give me a recommendation of a different rom and their thoughts about it? If you have time, could you also provide a brief description of the features provided in the rom?
-thank you sooooo much! It really means a lot!

Just a thought, why don't you give to the developement section and have a look at all the roms on offer. Many people comment on them so if you bother reading the comments you'll see any pros/cons.

Have you calibrated your battery/wiped battery stats after flashing that rom?
I'll recommend MIUI Osimood, it's bit different, but it works and is great. Just backup your current rom and get flashing, and try out different roms.

I've taken a look there and all I see are the basic "great rom" comments... I know that somewhere in there, there is someone who cannot explain how great a rom is and that is who I want to hear from.. I just don't have the time to go through 50 pages of comments you know?

I am a huge CM fan. I have used it on 3 phones now and it acts differently on each. But the CM7 stable (7.0.3) for vision is the best so far with regards to stability and battery life. I used the latest bell radio and didnt automatch RILs. I can get more than a full days with HEAVY use of the phone.
This is my best combo (rom/phone) so far. I still prefered the Milestone build quality...but battery life and RAM sucked the life out of it. Especially with CM.

I am using the freshly released Virtous Sense 2.0.0. Why? Because it's based on the recently published original ROM for the HTC Desire Z / G2: 2.42.405.2
So it's native to the G2/Desire Z and not a port, which I consider important regarding stability etc. Especially since the Desire Z with it's hardware keyboard is definitely an exotic variant in the realm of the droids...
What I also like about the Virtuous Sense MOD:
- Slightly overclocking/underclocking is included in the kernel, which makes it a smoother experience while saving power when the screen is turned off.
- You still have the original HTC Sense 2.1 experience
- little things like the battery icon are enhanced (you get an exact percentage) and can also be configured individually if wanted

Hey everyone I am just wondering what rom the majority of xda desire users use. Let me know thanks!!

This should be a poll
RCMixS Sense 2.1/3.0 Evolutionary.
Agreed, set up a poll.
ROM's should all come with usage recorders to anonymously report stats about devices and ROM's - something like distrowatch for Android phones would be cool.

SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I like:
Sense: InsertCoin (2.1+3.0) stable - using it now (latest 1.1.0)
AOSP: Oxygen-flashed this once in a while if I am bored with Sense (latest 2.2.1)
I am using MIUI after using Leedroid and oxygen, and before that star....something or other.
I have found MIUi to be easily the least buggy for me. I am now using D2EXT on it and it seems very very fast
Insertcoin 1.1 right now. Used leedroid and cyanogen before.
I think most people use Cyanogen, but i don't know for sure.
I'm back on stock for a while since i need a bigger SD card, my 4GB card is full.
It's a matter of taste I suppose. Some people want fancy/flashy ROMs while others want a slim bug-free stable ROM.
My personal experience with CM7 and, to a lesser extent, Redux, have been rather buggy requiring me to reboot the phone almost every day to fix a glitch here and there. Perhaps all the hacks and fancy features they add to these two ROMs is to blame for this.
But with Oxygen, I've not had to do that at all yet.
Im running Redux 1.2 themed with standard kernel atm. Great ROM for what i require with great battery life.
Looking forward to the new 2.0 redux when it is released.
Hi
I am new to rooting to my phone and would like to know if any roms that supports traditional Chinese and Korean?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I guess that the MIUI ROMS support that...considering they are made by devs who are originated in china and all.
You can find the version for our phone in their site here
Hope it helps.
Edit: I don't know if it supports korean. Also MIUI is fairly heavy on the phone. If I find myself some time and no-one has already replied, I might be able to look it up.
Thanks for the reply, is there a leedroid Rom for the HTC Desire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm not aware of Leedroid for Desire Z. However, if you do not require a chinese UI, only the ability to read and write Chinese, then any ROM will have this ability.
For input you may need to supplement it with the likes of multilang keyboard for chinese input, if you choose to go with a non-sense RoM. Many sense ROMs will have the HTC chinese input method intact.
If you are a Mandarin speaker I'd suggest Google PinYin method anyways since its one of the best, and supports both tradition and simplified chinese.

MIUI has been made by japanese third-party devs. also i like RCMIX3D 4.0 ROM. and i thought that it also supports chinese and japanese.android 2.3.5 sense 3.5 download: http://uploading.com/files/7c69c9c7/RCMix3D_v4.0.zip/
I am in favor of the MIUI..great interface, stable and great performance.
Just regarding about overclocking the processor, would some of the time include the application to do this? I don't really need the Chinese input. I would maybe go and try out a few different roms as I have just downgraded to 2.2 and rooted the phone.

You might try Andromadus if you're looking for bleeding edge. So far, its the smoothest and most capable ice cream sandwich build available. You can find it under the desire z/g2 rom development section, and I'll edit this post to include a link later. Or if you prefer a more stable, established rom try CyanogenMod 7.1 from CyanogenMod.com. both will support Chinese among other default languages, and are both far more capable than the stock sense rom and both include OC as well. Hope this helps..

I would HIGHLY recommend Ice Cold Sandwich, the homescreen is actually smooth and seems to be running at 60 FPS. It also has HEAPS of tweaks because it's based on AOKP. Give it a shot if you really want ICS.
Well, if u know chinese, u can go to the bbs.gfan.com to have to look at their rom. Although most of them are originally from xda, they may give u some different experience. U should check it out

I would definitely try the MIUI roms. They're great!
I think Sense 4.0 is a disappointment. Tried it on my Desire Z and it's not what I expected. The stock Android is much faster and better.
The MIUI ROM's absolutely don't work for me... Found them very laggy, but it does have some great functionalities.
I just use JIBwich, a stock Android ROM as it is on the Galaxy Nexus.

I would very strongly recomend the ILWT CM7 build (available under the development section). You will never want to move away. Atleast that has been the case with me, after trying sense and miui, I found home with this one.
Its fast, issue free, pretty optimized (although got further optimization you can use v6, akmo or rmp) and is pretty frequently updated (generally on every major CM build).
Been using it for almost a few months and can't even think of moving, not to any ICS either (personally, don't like the virtual keys always on screen on the ICS).
Hope it helps - cheers!

I flashed to that rom. I really miss how the the suggestions for the keyboard in ics. Im glad to back on a fully functional on-screen keyboard that doesn't lag. I was using the unofficial cyanogen mod 9. It had issues here and there. I kind of miss ics for its looks.

Hi, i'm using the new version of miui 4.1.2 but the problem is that i have issues with that version, lot of app don't work, games are slow, i can't search in internet 'cause it's slow too... So I want to change for another rom but I don't know which one is good, i'm searching for a rom with jellybean which could be fast and not use a lot of my RAM not like miui.
Thanks for all and sorry if my english is bad because i'm french.

I'm running mine on ckpv5 myONEv RC9.0 FX+ on top of Maxwen's latest Titanium Kiss kernel.
It may only be 4.0.4 but without a lot of the bloat that comes 'standard' on the One V factory builds, so it does run a lot better.
But there are some, quirks...
Call Volume, at lowest is the loudest, click up one spot, and it's right.
Edit: Just being blind, found the switch for vibration on keypress.
Those are the only glitches, I've found so far, and I've been running it for two weeks, really making sure I put it through it's paces.
Which is the best rom for my Desire? Now I have the Cool Bravo v10 and it's good, but sometimes it seems slow.. Which can I test?
Thanks

If you want stability and speed, use gingerbread-based ROMs.
But if you want a newer android, jellybean is smoothest than ics.
As JB ROMs, there are many, some with more graphics and some other with more features... but I would suggest CyanoMod007 (best if installed with INT2EXT+ using a class 10 microSD card), which I consider the best one for balance between stability/speed and features/compatibility.
Otherwise, if you can also try SlimROM which is even more fast but contains the minimum of features.
Hope this helps a bit, however the best thing is always wipe and flash until you find the ROM that best suits your needs
Thanks, I've proven the VJ Cyanogenmod, but the camera didn't run and I had problems with some apps..
