I don't own this device. I want to install a new stable ROM on her phone. I cant test each one to determine for my self so I'm asking you guys. Which ROM ice cream sandwich or recent 4.1.1 jb do you guys recommend I install on her phone? Stability is #1. Thank you

I am currently running the 8/25/12 JB Unofficial CM10 Build by binary bishop. It is very smooth paired with the TDJ kernel. FYI, to get Camera working you need the kernel. The kernel also has OC up to around 1.8 GHz. I am currently keeping it at 1512 MHz. Hope I helped!

Jedi Mind Trick v7 is smooth for ICS

If stability is #1, I'd go with one of the ROMs that uses T-Mo's official as a base. There are a few, but 4.0.4 has some improvements in it, so I'd suggest right now ptmr3's Jedi Knight / Koodo or ROM Chicago (not the new JB release but the ICS one). Honestly, I've tried all the JB builds and they are still giving too many SODs and other freezes to be considered stable. I wish this weren't the case, but it is.
One other thought - TDJ's builds were always the most stable IMO. So you could wait for Evolution to get past pre-release stage or go back to one of his 4.0.3 builds... they were really stable and fast.
Thanks everyone for suggestions I appreciate it. My girl friend is still on ginger bread and having issues all the time I'll take your advice and install ice cream sandwich as it was in development longer with least amount of issues compared to 4.1.1

Whats the most stable 4.0.4 based rom? I love AOKP and ive been running M4. But im looking for more of a newer system based rom. The battery life from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 i believe is a hell of alot better.
Flash the newer build of Aokp its rebased off 4.0.4. It's been out for quite a while

Well you're like one of the only ones with issues. And the OP asked for a stable ROM , not a lame-not ROM. I'm personally running CM myself , just threw a suggestion let him test the waters and pick the best one that works for him.
MIUI

Official CM 9, is bulletproof stable. And has longest lasting battery life out of the dozen ROM's I have tried.
I can't even imagine how awesome RC1 of CM9 will be.

Another vote for stock 4.0.4. Currently using my own build of aosp. Deodexed, rooted+busybox. Quite stable.
I've bounced around to several of the roms mentioned here and I have to say all of them have been pretty stable. I've used several for over a month, others weeks at a time. I'm on MIUI now.
All are pretty stable. The differences are the extra features and speed. Some stagger while others zip along. I'm sure most work well now. Most will have the same common extra features normal in a custom rom. Most of them look and feel the same after you get it setup.
My problem is I'm getting bored. The roms are so stable and perfect that I have no reason to flash and most devs aren't putting out many updates because of this. Only CM9 and AOKP update nightly. Others go for weeks. I'm was running Axi0m from March 4th. I finally got the itch to switch to MIUI.
I'm waiting on Gummy to release a new rom and Team Bamf.

Looks like CM has more popularity then i thought. Ive ran with 4.0.4 AKOP but it seemed problemmatic to me. I also run francos kernel. And always update to the latest nightly.
Maybe ill give Build 31 a shot again. Im tempted to try CM9 now though. Although i thought with 2nd init roms like CM9, atleast thats what they called them when i had it on the droid x. It was feature filled, but battery life was terrible.
AOKP b31- Francos Kernel
I recently bought my Galaxy Nexus. Immediately rooted it and tried a couple of ROMS. I was looking for stability with features.
I finally installed Milestone 4 and found it stable; however, not smooth or fast enough as 4.03. After seeing all comments in the AOKP thread I tried B31. Have been using it for 3 days with Francos Kernel Milestone 2.
I love the features, stability and smoothness with which the ROM works and have had no FCs or reboots at all.
In my view-If you want stability with a host of features then, nothing better than AOKP B31 with Francos kernel.
All the best with the upgrade.
Bluetooth Problems
Did CM9 and/or AOKP get the bluetooth problems ironed out that I read was introduced by 4.0.4? That's one feature that has to work for me.
Using Liquid Smooth Rom 1.25 - Pretty stable and fast, a lot of neat features ...
Flashed imoseyon leanKernel v3.2.1 but my phone was heating up (Didn't even touch the processor speed or voltage ) now using Franco Kernel (Battery life not good) - Give it a try, maybe the above mentioned kernels might work for you ....
Now going to try Trinity .....
Is the base the only difference between them? Both features list look very similar. Am I missing something here, which one is generally the most stable?

Some enhancement on the Jedi knight 3. Also jk3 based on 4.0.4 stock from while jmt based of 4.0.3
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Jedi Mind Tricks and Jedi Knight 3 are both based on Ice Cream Sandwich, just difference versions. JMTv9 is based on 4.03 while JK3 is based on 4.04. Due to the fact that 4.04 recently just came out for the t989/Hercules and the kernel source hasn't been released yet, there are no custom kernels out. Which means JK3 is using stock clocks (192-1512mhz) and generally no optimizations. On the other hand, JMTv9 has a custom kernel provided by Faux123, which allows for overclocking and other goodies. Besides that fact, I honestly can't think of many differences between the two...
In terms of stability, JMTv9 is stable in itself because of the fact that PTMR3 worked on it for so much longer than JK3. But, JK3 is based on 4.04, which is supposed to be more stable than 4.03.

Hello,
I have the VZW GS3 which has a million ROM's, sadly this doesn't seem to be the case here on the sprint phone.l
The most important thing is that everything works , thats it.
Are there any good stable ROM's out there without any built in themes?
Does anyone make TW ROM's? I havnt seen any on here
Lastly, what does LG8 mean?
The stock room is very stable imo. I have tried custom rooms on my evo in the past but have not felt the need here yet.
LG8 is the build number of the stock Rom that was the latest into a few weeks ago. The current release is LI3.

So your girlfriend has Sprint?
LG8 is the firmware version. This version is old. The latest official release is LI3. There are leaked firmware versions up to LIH now. This is Samsung's way to identify when the firmware versions were made. L=2012 I=September, 3=3rd. It goes up to 9 before it goes into letters to represent 10th day and higher.
As for Roms, there are quite a few tw roms available. Check out the android development section. There you will find both ice cream sandwich roms as well as the jelly bean leaks. I'm running jelly bomb domination jelly bean Rom. It's perfect!!!! Great battery life, no issues at all, and its fully themed.
If you want ICS I'd recommend team sonic free gs3 Rom.

Most of the roms in the dev forum are touchwiz roms. Almost all of these are stable, even jellybomb (based of leaked jellybean rom) is stable. I've had 0 issues so far, and it feels faster. Sonic, blazer, and many others are stable as well. I like jellybomb though. Most of the bugs will be in the AOSP roms (or miui). These were built from the ground up without Samsungs work. They'll be in the original development mostly.
I've been running blazer for weeks now, on the ics 1.9 version currently and no issues what-so-ever.

I appreciate you guys clearing it up for me. I have not been on XDA for a while and didn't see there are two separate Dev sections now. I was only looking at one of them.
I just have a question regarding Jelly Bean. I run the VZW version myself and we have some major data issues when we run AOSP JB, like data drops, not connecting despite showing full bars etc. Is this an issue at all on the Sprint version ? Are there any issues related to JB?

All the JB ROM's I've tried have caused a noticeable hit on battery life for me. I need my phone to last 10 hours reliably, and after every JB ROM I've tried, I was down below 20% after 10 hours, and that's not acceptable. What's your battery life on Blackbean like?
With FreeGS, I am usually around 60-70% after 10 hours, depending on usage.
Can anyone give me input on data quality on Blackbean and FreeS3 ROMs? I know its an odd question but my ROM's data isn't what it should be. I'm just wondering if this the case with most JB ROMs.

I'll agree. I rooted a couple of Nook Colors at work and when the slightest thing went wrong I'd have to take it home and flash it or update it or something. I guess rooting is best kept to one's self.

Haha it is technically my ex-gf.
I am only doing her S3 because I did this for her Evo 4g and she didn't complain once.
My girlfriend has been using a few custom roms that I've flashed for her on her nexus, but shes been having multiple SOD's and random restarts and other stability issues on 4.2.1 roms (tried a few). I would like to know the most stable rom/kernel combination that you have used in the past, 4.1.2 is preferable if the stability is better. Just basic rom features is all she needs, but stability and speed is most important, I feel pretty bad for giving her roms with some issues that I haven't experienced on my sgs3.
Thank you all for the help
If you are looking for stability and simplicity go with mmuzzy French vanilla rom. Its smooth and stable. If u want stable with mods go with carbon rom. Its fast smooth and good on battery life.

Thank you, I'm going to try flashing MMuzzy toro tonight and see how that works out
stock
yeah get her on 4.1.2 before she complains that you "broke" her phone lol. anyways i only use 4.1.2 roms right now, and i can tell you that jb sourcery 3.1 and liquid smooth 2.0 RC9 have both been straight shooters with great performance and not a single SOD in either of them
I just flashed MMuzzy's French Vanilla rom and my word is this thing awesome. Almost indistinuishable from stock. I wish I had a friend who had the GSM Gnex so we could compare features.
If you are looking for a few more features without losing stability I strongly recommend Nexus Evolution. The current version is from Jan 4 and a new version is likely to come out today or at least very soon

I wouldn't recommend bugless. BuglessPete hasn't updated it since Nov, so it is still 4.1.1.
I would recommend stock, rooted, deodexed. If you want features, then MMuzzy has been quite stable for me.
I just flashed Carbon V1 over XenonHD and it's running pretty smoothly. A lot of the 4.2 and mostly all of the 4.1 ROMs are pretty stable overall.

I second this one. Jedi Jelly 6 is very smooth. My only issue with it is that it's based off of a leaked AT&T ROM.
I believe ptmr3 (the dev) is working on a new version that is based on the recent 4.1.2 release specifically for the SGH-T989.
I switched to an AOSP based ROM and I'm never looking back despite wifi calling being a cool feature, but I never used it. Anyway, I've been using 2.2 Slimstars which was pretty great. The updates seemed to be a little unstable like the camera not working. Is the new one, 4.12 pretty much fixed? And are there many changes with 4.2.2? I may try PACman. How's that stability wise? Stability and speed (I just want it to work without waiting you know?) are priorities.
ptmr3's Jedi Mind Trick JB 2.1 is by the the fastest and smoothest and glitch free rom out there
I have tried almost all roms of the ICS and JB flavour
personally I do not like non touchwiz roms
and all CM and AOKP 4.2 roms do not support MHL output or Bluetooth mouse properly
everything seems to work on JMT except for OP known issues
