Sup!
I've been loving my experience with my Collective ROM recently (AbsolutionACE 2.6.35, I think), but for no apparent reason my sound (ringtones & notifications only) just stopped working about 4 weeks ago, and neither the stock sounds nor sounds from third-party ringtone apps will work. I cannot hear the preview using the standard Android ringtone select window, but EVERYTHING ELSE works. I can listen to music, make calls, watch videos, etc. but no ringtone will play when someone calls or texts me.
So, I'm left with two options: Either a) someone has an EASY fix for this, or b) I need a new ROM.
If you all would recommend a new ROM, which ROM do you think would be best? I don't like experimental ROMS, and I would prefer an AOSP ROM (stock) of either ICS or Gingerbread.
Thanks in advance guys, I really appreciate anything you have ready to throw my way.

Hi all,
I was a longtime Darkside Rom user until I recently gave CM9 a try, since I've long heard so much about that. I really like it, but I've noticed that a lot of the ringtones, well specifically notification tones, that I used on Darkside aren't on Cyanogenmod.
Can anyone point me to where I might be able to download the ringtones as a block, the ones used in Darkside, that is, and into which folder on my SD I should put the to get them to show up when I'm selecting ringtones for notificiations, gmail, sms, the native email client, etc?
Thanks!
Just extract it from the darkside rom . I think it is located in system /media/ audio

Hey, so I just got a GS3 after coming from an Evo 4G LTE, and so far I'm loving it. Plus, this is my first Samsung phone, my previous 3 have all been HTC. (The many versions of the EVO) Anyway I do have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.
1. I noticed that there are different settings for the vibration. Now, when I receive a txt it seems to do the basic ring vibration. I saw that there's an option to create your own vibration, which is pretty cool, but it didn't set for my txt messaging, perhaps I'm doing it wrong?
2. This might be just me or perhaps I'm just used to the keyboard on sense, but I'm noticing I'm making a lot of mistakes while typing. Lol, it's probably just me.
3. I love how samsungs threw in a lot of neat (or gimmicky) features. However, if I'm concerned about battery are there any I should turn off (I know motion is one, but I kinda like it)
4. Out of curiosity, what rom is everyone using? I'm debating whether to stay stock rooted, although I might switch to AOKP. Lol unlike sense, touchwiz really doesn't have a lot of issue with it.
5. Now if I do switch to AOKP or AOSP how is the camera quality?
Thanks in advanced!

1. No idea I haven't been on touchwiz since i got my phone
2. I hate the Samsung keyboard I switch to a ICS keyboard that's available in the market
3. Not sure. The only motion I ever left on was the swipe your palm to screen shot and I didn't noticed a decrease in battery. As long as you clear stuff in the task manager you should be fine
4. I've been on Paranoid Android for awhile. Touchwiz isn't as bad as people make it seem just not my style. A lot of cool looking touchwiz roms
5. Camera quality should be exactly the same except you lose certain features that are only available on the touchwiz

1. I am pretty sure the vibrate pattern is just for incoming calls not notifications even if you create a custom.
2. Yea lots of different keyboards mess around with a few find the one that fits you. I am using the new swiftkey flow and will not be looking back.
3. When on a TW rom I only use the swipe screenshots and hold phone to ear to call no battery issues for me. I delete S voice completely and disable other motion controls I dont need.
4. Currently running FreeGS3 3.0 really enjoying it. I spend most of my time on CM or other AOSP roms but if you are happy with TW for my phone anyways FreeGS3 has been very solid with the right amount of features and completely stable. The Aroma installer is easy and feature filled almost idiot proofs ROM installation.
5. As he said above the image quality will be fine just loose a few shiny du hickys in the camera ui
Thanks for both of your replies. I'm going to try CM and some other touchwiz roms.
Okay I have another question to. What is the purpose of the 0 folder inside of Scdard0. I noticed that some app data like Titanium Backup is defaulting there.
yeah im new to this phone as well and was wondering the same. The storage, extsd, and 0 thing throws me off sometimes. I'll get used to it though.

True! Actually I just found out some interesting information. Apparently the "0" folder holds all the information that was in the /sdcard folder before the jellybean update. Another user found it on their galaxy nexus. Oddly enough, most of the folders in mine were empty. Titanium Backup was the only one taking up space because for some reason it backed up there, I also had around 200mb in the android data folder, but I really had a hard time finding out where, so anyway I just ended up deleting it. So far no ill effects.

Yeah, I read this in another thread when a user couldn't find anything on their sdcard
Its weird why they would do that though, maybe to separate phone stuff from things that the user puts on their sdcard? Idk
By the way, just had to say this but I love your sig, the "life would be so much easier....." part
I love to code myself and I just found that really awesome lol
Haha thanks, it made me chuckle too when I first read it.

Hey guys! Punk9 here!
I was wondering, back on the Note 2/3 there were threads up for changing SPen sounds, UI Sounds, battery mods, time/date mods (for instance to center it) and many other mods. I was wondering how everyone here has done that? How do you guys customize your set ups?
If we have enough participation and we get alot of ideas i woudn't mind keeping up a thread in themes and apps with all of your guys ideas.
Post screenshots if you guys want!
I'd like to know as well. I re-downloaded the note 2 lightsaber sounds thinking I could have some luck in getting that to work....but I cannot
Try out the free app on Google Play called "S Pen Toolbox". That's what I use and you can assign any sound you like for the S Pen.
Also, if you have any questions about it, just ask.
It's easy if you have root, you just need your sound in the same format as the original (mostly .ogg), root and a file manager that can see root (solid explorer is a good option). Just go to /system/media/audio/ui and rename the old sound to back it up (something like Pen_det_noti1.ogg.old) and then just copy your new sound over and give it the same name. Also, make sure it has the same permission as the old file (644 chmod). You may need to restart for it to take effect. You can also change the sound for low battery, camera shutter, etc here.
For all other UI things, just use xposed framework and Wanam Xposed. You can move the clock and do a whole lot of UI tweaks with that.
I use note buddy (primarily because it was the first one I learned about). I was going to try to figure out spend helper to see which I prefer.
Note buddy allows sPen and headset options. Works well for me.

Tried out some of the new roms, but I see they are keeping the stock keyboard with the crappy/poor samsung emotes on hangouts.
Has anyone figured out how to remove these and convert back to the correct google ones?
Insert comments about samsung doing something stupid.
I'd rather bake it in with my flash instead of band-aid it in.
All the "how to" things say its the keyboard, which that must not be true.
I pulled the samsung IME from the rom and re-flashed with google keyboard and its still showing these crappy emotes.
I rarely use them, but I hate seeing these stupid things when others do.
I dont want to use that emote switcher program, because its a bandaid. Really wondering what the actual change comes from on these.

This will change them. It's a band aid fix but it works.

yeah, trying to avoid the bandaids.
That was what I was referring to when I was talking about it.
Might have to suffer with using that for now.
