Is that a function, or you are suppose to set it on some CPU app?

it's a function. just like parrishantonius said you can install Cpu Spy from Google Play to see the cpu state whether it is deep sleep-able or not.
as my installed rom kernel are using arco's kernel, i believe any other rom using that kernel are deep sleep-able. just give it a try.

Do you have any apps causing wake lock? You should check spare parts.

Spare parts?... ill do that...but just so u know I do disable the perflock on the the CPU master app...because that seems to make the speeds I choose stick ....after I apply ..does that make any sense?

Do you mean for like your governor? I'm slightly confused. Also, spare parts is an app, if it wasn't included in your rom, you can get it free in the market.

Well I thought so, but just making sure. Also, if you set the speed, and click set on boot, that should also hold it. And check for partial wake lock, and then since boot.

Mmmm see I never knew that... Thas why I never clicked on that...
Now..tee roxxx ... what is a partial wake lock...I KNOW what perflock is ..I read about it... it added to the kernel that is used for CPU speed right? Or am I sounding dumb then a mf

Well do click that, and you should be all set on that. Partial wake lock is when a program/app keeps your phone from "sleeping" when the phone is in screen off mode. For some people its the dialer after the call a call, aim sometimes give me partial wake lock. But if a program is giving you wake lock, it'll be shown by a by where the app name is.

[Q]How to go under voltage?

I keep hearing people say they uv -xx number to save battery, how do you do that?
You can check the kernel thread you installed from. Usually use echo command and point to vdd_table. If you don't understand what undervolting is, you may not want to do it. It can cause issues if you undervolt too much. It can save battery life, but i would suggest using setcpu, you can find a free copy on xda, and setting profiles, like screen off, in call, etc., to lower values. I would say, stay above 300MHz for min. and clock down the max. Min are: 384-540 for screen off; 384-540 for in call. also, with some roms, you can set the main value, on the first tab, to a lower figure in the max column. I don't charge my phone everyday anymore.
Thanks for the detailed info. But I heard there's an app that does uv?

Luckily, I do use Juggernaut.
I installed fauxclock but I don't see a way to under voltage? I only see the interface to set CPU clock. Am I missing something here?

Ah ha!!! I see!!! Thanks!!
I've used up my "thanks" for today but I'll definitely come back tomorrow.
What is the uv number I should generally set to save battery but not have the phone freeze?
If I set it to negative too much and the phone freezes, I just reboot the phone and re-set the number to a higher (less uv) value?
it's different from phone to phone, you just gotta try it out and see.. i UV mine about 100mv under stock at 1.51ghz

Mine can do 100 also
I can only go -62.5. Anything over that will freeze the phone...
How come every phone is different in this regard, does this mean my phone is "born" to consume more battery?
Thought I saw posted somewhere here not to use SetCpu on our phone? FauxClock always FC's on me. Running Jugs overclock on rooted/flashed T-Mo SGS2.

how do you make your phone go into a deep sleep?

ive seen people saying about deep sleep how do you do it? sorry for a noob question.
It's automatic. When you lock the screen it should go into deep sleep. Download cpu spy to check cpu states
so basically to save you battery . should i use JD?

No need to use Jack Daniels to put your phone into deep sleep. (I dunno what you mean by use JD lol)
Most ROMS, including 100% unrooted stock will use deep sleep.
^^^^^^^ - Bahahaha!
I read the Thread title and started laffing immediately.
========================
Just smash your phone against a wall to make it go into eternal deep sleep, mate.
========================
I believe the chap means 'Juice Defender.' Make sure you don't have apps keeping your phone awake, too.

Right, deep sleep is a battery saving state when phone is not in use. JD makes a smartphone dumb by disabling the radios. It generally uses more battery than it saves. I don't use, nor recommend JD(Have tried it though, and quickly realized it ruins a smartphone and makes no difference in life). However, some people still seem to think it's some great gift from God, but they are mistaken. A simple script to UV and UC/OC can take care of all your battery saving needs. Or if you can't manage to run a script use system tuner to do these things.
If you are planning on running an ICS rom you cannot not UV or OC until kernel source is released, though. You can UC it
Turn the power off lol

Like this:
Settings > Applications > Running Services.
Press Menu, and select Show cached processes (you don't have a choice, really).
Now select whichever processes you want and stop them.
Say, M&S, is it ok to stop ALL of those cached processes?

No Frills vs SetCpu

Which 1 is better?? I've tried both. Cant seem to tell except that SetCpu can make diff profile than No Frills n No Frills can determent whether ur phone is in deep sleep or not.
So, my Q remains Which is better??
Thanks vokal1992
That depends on what you need. I personally like that you can have setCPU profiles for each app individually.
Ya, i'm using SetCpu 2. But to know whether ur phone is in deep sleep or not u gonna need another app like "CpuSpy". Why cant SetCpu hav deep sleep feature/option that can let us know bout our phone gone into deep sleep.
Thanks vokal1992
SetCPU as it has profiles.

But i think its originate from SetCPU So they both aren't that much of a diff But antutu has a feature that could control ur cpu power usage aka undervolt ur cpu that SetCPU dosen't hav. So thats good too

Possible Fix For Battery Drain/Deep Sleep Issues

I got my phone yesterday and have been messing with it since. I've read that some people experienced battery drain issues and their CPU not going into deep sleep. Here's what I did to get to that point with the battery drain and cpu not deep sleeping....
1) Flashed a ROM
2) Booted the ROM and whatever, the set up process basically
3) Later flashed a custom kernel (This is where i think the issue started)
4) Flashed another custom kernel and issue persisted
5) Flashed another Radio in hopes that would fix it.....not really lol
Here's what I did to solve it....
1) Flash ROM AND Kernel in recovery same time
Immediately on boot I went into deep sleep....
Just my knowledge and experience thus far.....give it a try and confirm...
So how do i check if my cpu is/isn't going into deep sleep?
