I just used OP's [GUIDE] Comprehensive S-OFF/Root Methods. This went fine, i gained downgraded and gained s-off fine but now i get this message wen i try to go into recovery to flash SU
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Anybody know how to fix this, or if i can just re-try the whole thing without bricking my phone?
Any help would be amazing cuz i'm sitting here without a phone.

did you flash recovery using adb, fastboot flash recovery recovery(name of recovery).img
look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435228
should be clockworkmod 5.0.2.0 the latest for the inc2

no used revolutionary, and chose to add CWM recovery. Last time I rooted it did it automatically.
Either way so i should try "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivow (1).img" in adb?

yes, the revolutionary one is probably outdated.then flash su, from recovery, it should be a zip file
remove that (1) from the end before you put it in the sdk folder, which ever one you use, in the folder it should be recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivow.img(no(1) after vivow

fastboot on your phone??? no. the command is fastboot flash recovery recovery-(and what ever it says in the img folder)if it cmw or clockwork-5.0.2.0 or what ever, it has to be the same as in the img folder
fastboot on the phone should be off and usb debuging should be turned on,

Reboot into boot loader, when in hboot select fast boot, plug phone into PC and open the adb shell / fast boot shell, type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Assuming you mean that you've installed the 4ext app, open the app and choose the option to install.

I can't read the first picture. Tap on the RC9 build of the second picture. That should download and install the recovery. You don't have that build. If you did it would be colored yellow.

i only mentioned the fastboot flash cause that's the only way that app even worked for me, you first need a base 4ext recovery, (the one that can be flashed via the .img) and then update it via the app.
Hey! As the title says, is that possible? I have the backup recovery img file (Iaf.img), but im not sure how to use it without fastboot (cant use it since fastboot cant recognize my phone).
In TWRP:
Terminal command?
ADB sideload?
Something else? If so, how?
Thanks for answer!

Recovery tool? I may know what you mean but not sure. Guess there is a guide somewhere?
Fastboot seems to work BTW now. Someone said I could use fastboot flash flash laf.IMG, will try that when I'm home but if that's not working I would love another solution.
Thanks for helping!

Hey guys, this is my first post on XDA forum.
So I've recently bought a nexus 7, I used wugfresh's root kit to root my nexus but then it didn't work... so I've tired the auto root by chainfire. Then I was able to get root. So then I went to playstore and downloaded rom manager to install CWM. I went to recovery then I get this message:
E : Cant mount /cache/recovery/log etc.....
I've tried everything I can do such as researching, changing recovery, and watching a youtube tutorial but nothing helped.
Thanks.
I would start over from scratch using fastboot to flash a factory image and stock recovery. If your bootloader isn't unlocked already, unlock it.

DO NOT USE TOOLKITS. They cause too many problems. Learn to do things the proper way using fastboot. I agree with the poster above, you should flash a factory image to start over. Download the system image from here- https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
You need to unlock your bootloader-
Code:
fastboot OEM unlock
Then run the flash_all.bat. That will automatically wipe and reflash everything to get you back to square one.
Then you need to flash TWRP (don't use CWM)
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
TWRP will automatically prompt you to flash SU when you reboot. Choose yes, reboot, then install SuperSU from play store, update the SU binaries, reboot again, and then you're done.

flash recovery(TWRP)
but then when I reboot into TWRP I don't get a message saying you to install SU... And when I go to 'Install' in TWRP I don't see any internal storage available(0mb). With this error I cant install any roms which is boring.

Well then I don't know what to tell you at this point. I know Lollipop has been causing issues for some N7 users, but I also know that wugs toolkit causes problems too so honestly I'm not sure what the root of your issue is. I think someone with more experience with Lollipop is gonna have to chime in here, I'm still on 4.4.4 on all of my devices. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Are you sure that you can't reboot in twrp ..did you already try to do it manually ?
anyway if you want go back stock and you aren't able to use again NRT you need to flash manually a factory image from Google .Here is a the link with instructions ;

if fastboot flash doesn't work you probably have fastboot locked.

Hi. I was wondering if you know how to fix this only through fastboot. I get the same "remote: unsupported command" message when flashing partitions and "remote: image verification failed" when using "fastboot boot twrp.img" command. Right now, I have no recovery and cannot boot to system. Locking and reunlocking bootloader doesn't change a thing and I do have the latest drivers.

Have you tried to ask Google for a USB bootable recovery + ZIP file ?
What's up everyone. So I just picked up my HTC 10 and purchased Sunshine. I didn't watch the whole video I guess and my phone did a factory reset vs. me going into temp root etc. So now I have s-off, and it's unlocked but I have no idea what else to do in order to get root access etc.
Can someone give me a hand. Thanks!
First flash TWRP.
Then either flash a rooted rom or flash SuperSU from TWRP (<---- this will make you stock rooted).
I'm trying to flash twrp but it's not working from adn commands for some reason. I keep getting an error message.
What error message are you getting?
You might be using the wrong folder to open the cmd window...make sure the folder you use has adb/fastboot files in it.
It's saying error cannot load twrp.img
I'm running the cmd prompt and am able to use it too boot the phone into bootloader mode
the command line I'm using to flash the recovery is: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

Ok here are a couple things you can try...
type out fastboot flash recovery the drag and drop twrp.img into the cmd window
or
If you renamed the twrp file you may have renamed it twrp.img.img ....add the extra .img at the end
OK, i renamed it img.img and it flashed!! Thanks so much. Ok so now what else do i need to do? Wanna ask so I don't screw anything else up.
