Hello,
I am searching for a new pair of reasonable quality earphones for my nexus.
The main goal is to use them to listen to music and the occasional videos.
It word also be nice if they had a mic to be able to use the earphones in phone calls too.
So, does an earphone with mic for the iphone like the DREX300IPB from Sony work with the nexus?
Thanks.
Cheers.

are there 3 rings on the 3.5mm jack? if so, the mic should work.

I think so. I will have to go to a store and check.
There are also models for iPhone with controls to stop/play, forward/reverse, mic and such.
Do does work with android?
Cheers

Doubt all the multimedia buttons will work, but you just have to try
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
The answer is yes.
However, volume buttons don't work, but the calling/play control button works.

There are 2 standards that exist, iPhone headset, and standard mobile phone headset with in line mic which 99% of phones support. Nexus supports the normal standard, not the iPhone standard. Just buy the standard one.
Example, Bose MIE2 or Bose MIE2i. There is always both options. Just buy the right one.

Thank you for the explanation.
However, I seem to find far more models with mic and controls that say that are made for idevices. The choice seems to be greater and so I was wondering of they would work at all on the nexus.
Cheers

Just one more question.
Do the beats by Dre for HTC sensation work on the nexus? The Mic and the play controls?

i have the HTC ones from amazon. i can't stand them.
the only other ones i know of are the zagg smart buds.
mine should be here monday. i hear they are pretty good.
the volume control isn't digital, but it's the best i could find to work with the evo.
i believe today is the last day they are on sale if you are interested. they are regularly $80, but are down to $50. use the coupon code holiday40 to make them $30.
I see, cause I do workout and stuff so I don't want something that still always fall out.

i use older ipod touch headphones the ones with the mic and buttons. the buttons dont function with the evo but there loud crisp and awesome. gf doesnt know im using them
Lol I loved those the best if only they could work that way.

holiday40 code did not work
I have these:
Altec Lansing UHS306 SnugFit Earphones with Microphone
All of the controls work properly, but I'm not really impressed with the sound quality or the build quality. They are OK, but not great.
Also, I snagged them from Buy.com for $9.99, and feel they were worth that price, but would have felt ripped off @ $90.
Just go with the Ultimate Ears. They are awesome.
Do they have a pause button?

Also you guys should try this app: RemoteControl for Earphones
This app enables remote control operation like iPod.
I use Klipsh Image s4 (amazing earphones, voted best by many sites) and it has no buttons, but the Klipsh Image s4a (android version of s4) are suppose to have andrdoid controls. here's the link http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
picked up these skull candy fmj which dont have volume control but do have play pause next track and previous track but its button pushes not seperate buttons aka one pause two for next three for prev...
but has a mic too which is really nice for phone calls actually dont even put my phone up to my ear around the house i'll usually grab them and plug them in and then answer
http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/full-metal-jacket
i recommend checking out amazon too i picked them up for 25 bucks over the 70 dollar retail
and they are metal so they are pretty tough
i have had shures seinheissers, and monsters and these sound honestly just as good as those for being much cheaper (if on sale i guess )
Like the title says, I'm using this one right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Body-Glove-Pr..._1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1327906766&sr=1-5
Everything works as it should, but the sound quality when listing to music sounds like a cheap 1.99 pair of headphones. I am an audiophile when it comes to sound quality especially with headphones, this particular pair is unbearable.
Can anyone recommend a pair for under $50 that has quality sound? I really like the convenience of the inline mic and the call button. It works well with Vlingo too.
I too would like confirmation on which headsets work for our phones. My previous phone (Epic 4G) would not work with several different headphones with mic. More specifically the buttons did not behave as you would want them to. For example: music controls, volume controls, voice control, etc. I have tried Bose headphones(AE2i and Quietcomfort 3) and earphones(MIE2i), Klipsch S4i, and several skullcandies. None of the inline buttons worked for the Epic 4G and I'm afraid these iDevice headphones will not work for my E4GT as well.
Instead of making a new thread, let me just ask here:
Is there anyway to hack/mod or phones to recognize the inline buttons? I'm not familiar with how an iDevice interprets these commands, so it may be completely out of the question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Those do look nice though. The thing is, like the Body Glove ones they use words like "premium" and "high quality" and a big WTF/Facepalm when you actually get to use them. I don't want to get suckered again so I want to get some recommended ones.
Ya know, maybe of I could just find the cord with a mic and button with the 3.5mm jack I can put my own headphones on that would be a great option too, I'd need a confirmation that it works with our phones though.
So i tried using three different headphones with two almost new s2s (mine and my gfs), it seems that none of the headphones can get solid connections with either phones, they either have to be kept at a certain angle/position or need to pressed down to actually hear sound.
Can anyone confirm this? Does the headphone jack get best compatibility with samsung products only? Not that I use my phone to listen to music but this is pretty irritating.

Look for a right angle connector or adapter. It is best for things like phones to prevent damage to the jack.
I have a in-ear headphone from HP with the inline mic... I don't have the problem with audio cutting out. I do have problem with the mic volume sounding faint at other end. I need another headphone/mic unit. Any suggestions welcome. No BT - I need in ear for noise reduction and also listening to podcasts.
None of my headphones can go in all the way, theres always a bit of the metal outside. I tried it with both t989 that I have access to. I don't think it's just my machine.. anyone verify?

You might have gotten something stuck inside your jack.
My plugs insert all the way...
are you using a case?
I thought i was having a problem with my porta pros, then when I tried them without my case on I could see it wasn't in all the way.
It took quite a bit of force to snap it in the rest of the way then it worked just fine.

As title states, I have a Jawbone Icon HD headset which I really like but I would also like to get a good pair of earbud+mic that doesnt require the adapter. Can anyone who owns the original earbuds the XP came with detail the model # and or a mice alternative?
I have seriously purchased like 3 pairs of earbuds+mic only to be disappointed, mostly because I have to use the adapter or I get the "device not supported" notification.
Any suggestions on alternatives and the model # on the stock earbuds+mic that our phone came with would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
Anyone?

Or you could use basically any headphones with this adapter. I bought it myself, and it works with all headphones with a microphone/play-pause button.

Basically OMPT is the type of headphone jack that is in the XPlay. So if you got OMPT headphones, you won't need to use the adapter. Why don't you want to use the adapter? lol. Personally, I haven't owned any OMPT headphones, but I heard from a few friends that the XPlay's stock headphones are pretty decent.
If you still are going to buy standard headphones w/ mic, to use with the adapter, I'd go for these. I've owned them for more than 6 months, and they are probably the best. In terms of sound, mic, and build quality.
I want to buy two in ear Bluetooth headsets to use as wireless headphones to listen to music with. I've been researching if it's possible to sync two headsets to one phone, and from what I've seen, whether or not this is possible is largely hardware dependent. I was wondering if any of you have done this with the i747 and can confirm it works before I buy anything
Just to be clear, I'm not talking about multipoint, which allows one Bluetooth headset to sync with two phones.

should do. i can connect to car stereo and a jbl flip at the same time.
I personally did this but with two different brand units. They never seemed "in sync" with each other. I suppose using the same models may have solved that issue but wasn't able to try. Instead a purchased a pair of Motorola Bluetooth ear buds and love them.

That's good to know, I just bought two of the same model, so hopefully it'll just work. I'll report back results
So they just came in and my phone will only sync one at a time. Gonna keep doing research but I'll post findings here since a lot if this seems to be hardware specific

I just tried this also, with two identical DB power Mini Bluetooth earpieces. Only one will pair at a time, so it doesn't work with these either, just so anyone interested in these knows ahead of time. You can set one up for phone audio, and one for media audio though, at the same time.
