This application lets you use your phone as WIFI router without setting up anything in device. Let me if you guys like it.
This application has its own thread here on XDA-Developers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357152. Don't really see the point of you posting the CAB here.. without all the information needed.
Well this message, in the wrong place, introduced me to your excellent application!
thank you
How do you turn off this wifirouter?? i got it working and works fine although i cant get my archos gen 5 to pick it up but i tuned it off but my computer still picks it up although it cnt connect to it
the app is connected but i am not connected to the internet on my laptop...any answers? i tried resetting a bunch of times
is it the trial version or the real thing? is there a free way of doing it.. does it work for windows 5
infrastructure mode?
is there a way to broadcast in infrastructure mode, instead of ad hoc? i would love to use a zune hd with this, but it is not able to see ad hoc networks. thanks.
???
the SSID is not showing up in my computer. All others (mine and my neighbors wireless connections) are showing up.
How to get my playstation 3 2 work with this router
Hi i am so damn frusterated right now with this. How do i get my ps3 to work with this router thing. My computer connects to it and recieves wifi. But when i try to find it with my ps3 it wont detect it. Does any one know how do i get this 2 work.
try this
1. connect ur trinity to ur laptop / pc via USB and run "internet sharing" on your trinity.
2. Set up an Ad-Hoc connection on your PC / Laptop and directly connect ur PS3 to it.
3. In network settings on your PC / Laptop click the ad-hoc connection icon and the windows mobile based device icon (Ctrl-Left click each one) right click one of them when their both selected and click on bridge connection from the drop down menu.
this method's a bit of a potch to set up but once its running it works perfectly and you only have to set it up once. it also lets you use the internet on your pc and ps3 at the same time.
I'm pretty late to this and NEW (newbie), but I wanted to make a quick post about it's use on my Imagio winmo 6.5 OS 5.2.21... no mods, no roms burned and this works perfectly. Now I can surf at work without the assistance of our helpful IT friends LOL.

Your laptop or pc picks up adhoc signals aswell as infrastructure, to be quiet honest, this app is very useless when advertised as a router, doesn't route anything if just limited to adhoc, adhoc = computer to computer connections, not a router to me at all! Its a very nice app for many other things though.. I see someone giving you instructions for 'ICS' doing all that just makes it all pointless and you may aswell just get a home router connected to house line!
This is one of my favourite apps. I've been using it for a long time now and just awesome.

Really love this app. Only problem is that it worked great the first time I launched it. Now it can't connect. It just keeps on cycling trying to connect to att gprs and finally says "the remote party has ended this connection". Any ideas?

It sounds like possibly your connection settings have been erased. Can you get internet in Explorer, etc? If so, please disregard this...
how do i load it in my phone
thanks for the share , can you explain how the procedure works , I want to create applications like these but still don't understand their concept
Closing as this is a duplicate thread for this one:

Hi,
I've got a PC, a laptop with wifi and my Artemis.
Now, I connect to the internet on my PC through cable, and I use Activesync (through USB) to do internet-stuffs on my phone.
But now I'd like to share the internet on the phone through wifi with my laptop?
Is this possible?
I've seen the hack to change the internet sharing "PC connection" from bluetooth to wifi (regedithack Privateinterface), but the "network connection" only shows my GPRS-connection, not Activesync.
How can I change that?
I *assume* I need to change the registry-key for PublicInterface?
But into what do I need to change it?
Or do I need some kind of proxy-software or something?
Nobody has an idea?
help
hey man i'd like to know that too, if you figured it out some way please tell me how to do it, thank you.
i would also like to know.
Me too, but i think its imposible w/o additional software on ppc.
I'd be really glad to hear there's a solution to this too, as I need to use Activesync simultaneously with allowing internet access to my laptop (would save me a few bob on mobile BB when I'm out in the car).

However its done, count me in. Any idea if/where this software can be found.
Regards all,

Is there anyway I can have my desire use my PC's internet when it is connected via usb?
At this stage I dont have wifi at work and cant use that method.
Essentially I want to reverse the direction of tethering when the phone is connected to my computer.
Thanks, Dean
Unfortunately, reverse tethering or connecting the phone through computer's Internet connection (through an ad hoc wifi) is not possible, which is quite annoying. It would be nice if this type of feature, although highly unlikely, could be incorporated an upcoming ROM update for example.
That is annoying, especially since I could do this with my old WM - although thanks for the reply and info.
I wonder if it could be done through an app perhaps.
Cheers, Dean

Yes it's extremely annoying. I had this on my HD and HD2, but i really don't know why HTC could not incorporate this with the Desire. Afterall, it's a desirable (excuse pun) feature.
it has nothing to do with your phone, since it all depends on the host computer. On mac: you can do it easily by sharing your internet connection in system preferences.

maybe i misunderstood you, but its perfectly possible to make an adhoc wifi network, and connect to the internet on your desire

it has everything to do with your phone. If the phone has no interface for it, it won't work.
Can't say whether it works or not, just saying that it does not depend solely on your computer

odd, because i use it nearly everyday
So does this mean I can do it or not ?
Do I need and ad-hoc wifi network - what exactly is this ?
Thanks

If your computer has a wifi card (laptops usually do, desktops don't) you can create a local network and connect your desire to it.
No idea if it's possible over a wire
You don't need to create an ad-hoc network, just download connectify and use it as a hotspot on your laptop, then connect the Desire to the hotspot you just created and that's it.

Ahh that is handy!
Thanks for the tip
I created an adhoc network following this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx
The host laptop itself can see the adhoc network, but desire cannot.
Any ideas?
Maybe I'm wrong but AFAIK Desire can't 'see' ad-hoc networks, only access points. You can get internet from PC, but only using Connectify under Windows 7 or by using advanced magic under Linux.
Am I right or something has changed lately?
BTW: does anybody share internet from Linux? Any suggestions?
As far as i know, you can only see an ad-hoc network if you have the desire rooted and change some files somewhere (can't remember which ones...), either way the next best thing is to use some kind of software that creates an Wifi Access Point.
I don't get it: why would you want to connect to the internet via your PC instead of directly connecting to your WiFi router ?
Maybe when you only have a LAN-connection?
Or Maybe when your in Work and only have a Lan Setup
and want to access / download things on your phone,
Reverse USB tethering would be AMAZING!!!!!

Stupid me, just hadn't realized that still not everyone has a WiFi capable router nowadays...
The problem with ad-hoc internet sharing is that your host PC still needs a WiFi connection. You can't use internet through USB. I've tried it yesterday at work (yes, for the Froyo update ), but no succes.
Having a smartphone in a country with high mobile data costs is like having a Ferrari to do your local grocery shopping Fortunately I'll have unlimited mobile internet next week. So I can finally use my Desire as intended.
I am currently in an area with sketchy 2G internet connection, and I have loads of apps wanting updated from the market, if I was to try and do it from the mobile connection it would take an age!
However, I do have broadband internet access on my laptop, so I was wondering if there was some way to utilise the laptops internet connection and make my phone connect to the internet via that?
I am not sure if this is even possible, but thought this would be the best place to ask!
Stu
If you are running Windows 7 on a WiFi capable laptop, you can use Connectify to turn it into a WiFi hotspot.

Dave

Thanks!! That works brilliantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there no way around the fact that Surface RT wont see ad-hoc wifi networks. Considering many smart phones tether by creating an ad-hoc access point I find it strange that Microsoft left this out of RT.
If we can jailbreak and run 3rd party code surely we can sort this out? Any ideas welcome.
That seems to be something to do with the exact WiFi adaptor in use. My laptop suffers from the same issue and my old phone does too but my desktops usb adaptor works fine in both the desktop and laptop and my current phone detects them fine.
Probably the driver, more than the chipset... but yeah, some Windows WiFi drivers are annoyingly crippled.
Has anybody tried using netsh to put the radio in ad-hoc mode?

Sounds exciting if there is anything that could tried. I have done some research on the web and it seems that Microsoft just reply by acknowledging the fact that ad-hoc is not available to the surface RT. I can not find a reason why. As usual Apple iPad works straight away with ad-hoc tethering and Windows 8 pro doesn't mind either so why cripple RT?
My surface RT connects fine to my Galaxy S3 tether.

Yes, mine connects fine with my Nokia 820 but they are not broadcasting in ad hoc mode which some phones are only capable of. Unfortunately we have an unlimited data plan on phones which wont show up in the WiFi list on the RT, most frustrating
