Anyway to add the hold down power button for 10 seconds and the the phone will either turn off or reboot to recovery or something?
I mean say your playing with your phone on your way home from work and your on a train/bus/walking and it gets in a boot loop and you don't want to have to take off your big 2+ layer case off because you might lose it or drop it. This is just a suggestion/question.

There's not one yet. There was one for my old phone and for the nexus 7 its holding the power button. I would like this implemented. Also why did you put this in themes and apps... its a question.

I've had a G2 for a couple of years now that hasn't been working. I've exchanged batteries, but cannot get anything to boot. The phone was having problems with freezing prior to the supposed brick, and the phone is completely stock.
As of now, I have it plugged in via USB and I didn't hear any sort of notification that the computer even recognizes the phone, my other android phones will get picked up with the power off.
Long story short, is there a way to get into "upgrade mode", or something similar that HTC might have? Something from ADB that could trigger the phone to power on in the hardware doesn't power on itself?
Thanks.
EDIT: The charge LED does NOT come on while plugged on to the charger.

Try what? I've tried another battery in the past. But shouldn't the LED come on when plugged into USB with or without battery?

Check that the leads on the battery are touching the contacts in the phone properly!

well chances are you will need to open it up and use a soldering station to fix it then. maybe someone else here has a good tip for you to try but my best guess is it will be sold for parts

Stupid thing has water damage..the VOID sticker wasn't where it was supposed to be, but I saw some pink residue from the sticker. I'm gonna take it to see if I can get it fixed. I believe it's worth it, it isn't the first batch of G2's, it was one of the warranty replacements that didn't have those weird issues.
Take a multi meter to the contacts with the phone open. See if any power is getting through.
My screen is harder to press than normal I have to apply a little more pressure to it . And its really bothering me anyone has any advice on what I can do to fix it ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
is there a screen calibration app out there ? the problem comes and goes . more on charging when it begins and the only way it fixes if i eboot or (sometimes) turn my screen off then back on
Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ob3A0YXBwcy50b3VjaHNjcmVlbmJvb3N0ZXIuY29tIl0.

Give us some clues..
i) Does your phone or screen get hotter when you have this problem?
ii) Do you run a custom ROM or Kernel on your GNex? If true, tell us which..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I just unrooted to see if that was the problem so no I have no rom just android 4.0.4 and locked bootloader .
Test something for me , touch ur screen very lightly and move from screens now when that works see if u can touch the navigation buttons very lightly like u did he screen . And tell me if it works
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
And it happens mostly when I charge it or hot
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
If it only happens when you're charging, Its because of your charger. My screen would go wonky on my epic with a cheap charger I have at work.

I think/hope he was talking about his own question.
I use auto and I have noticed a bit of eye strain after many hours of Netflix. I don't remember my One X causing so much. Maybe try 50% or 75%? CM10 and modified kernels have custom color settings you could also try.

I think it is the color shift. I noticed the same thing when I first got the Nexus. Since I moved to a new ROM plus kernel I don't have the strain anymore. I could be wrong and maybe I just got used to it but it seemed as soon as I flashed I was much happier.

No problem. I didn't see any reference to what model you have if you have Sprint try this Rom.

It is only for Sprint though so if you have GSM or Verizon you will have to try something else.

Explain. Without the working hardware key?

As long as the device will power into a state where you can use ADB, you can always use "adb reboot bootloader" and use fastboot commands to return to stock.

Because Samsung phones sometimes modify themselves with the power button delete :highfive:
I'm sure it's the same for many phones, but I know many people who have worn out the power button on Samsungs.

Adb reboot recovery or bootloader
Can use a toolkit if needed.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Is it "stuck" being pressed in? Happened to my nexus s and the phone was fine once on (would boot up auto when battery pulled) and no adb would work due to it thinking power was being held down.
download toolkit
install drivers ( if windows 8 disable driver signatur checking)
reboot fastboot
install stock
lock bootloader
....
profit

Just use adb., and factory imgs

Why people over complicated things..
This works if your USB is f*cked too.
Use bootunlocker to lock bootloader
mobile Odin a stock image
profit.
Beamed from my Grouper.
The thing is 'adb reboot bootloader', 'chmod +x flash-all.sh', './flash-all.sh' and 'fastboot oem lock' is way easier than all that. And supported too.

It has inadvertently turned off data use. Mine did the same thing. Flip it into airplane mode, flip it off. I hope the bugs I am finding get fixed along with signal and battery life.
I've unlocked mine and some icon's have randomly moved screens. Not sure whats up with that.
Also today on my drive home I got the wonderful Droid DNA faint ringing thing (Google it). I'm assuming it was a temp warning? as the phone was warm since I was using google maps, streaming pandora, and taking some pictures of the sights every once in a while, all while it was plugged into the car charger.
Annoying thing is it wasn't just out of the handset. the constant faint ringing goes through bluetooth audio also so my pandora and navigation CONSTANTLY has this stupid ringing going on.
I disabled fastboot and shut it down when I got on a road that I needed to stay one for 100+ miles to cool off, powered back on and didn't do as much at the same time (Switched to my iPad to stream pandora) and it seemed to work fine for the next 5 hours. still not doing it as of now.
Anyone have anymore info on that faint ringing?
Wondering if this is a bug or just not something the ONE is capable of.
Focusing well, especially in Macro Mode. My previous HTC phones focused as close as 2 or 3 inches. My ONE has to be at least 8+ to focus.
