Camera Icon CM10 (Where The Hell Is It) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I know that the Camera and Gallery are lumped into one APK on JB, but I just did a clean install of CM10 and the latest Gapps and my gallery works and I have no Camera Icon anywhere (including the app drawer). If I try to hit the camera icon from the lock screen, it just bounces back like there's nothing there.
What - The - Hell?

Sounds like camera apk is just missing. Extract stock Rom, move camera apk to system/apps/ reboot. You should be good to go

I think cm didn't include it yet.. I'm sorry. What you can do for time being is download this party application..

All fixed. Here's what I'm pretty sure happened. After I wiped CM10 and did a fresh install of the latest nightly, I accidentally installed an old set of gapps. This placed the old gallery under /system/app. When I flashed the newest set of gapps, the new gallery (that includes the camera) didn't get copied over. I deleted the old gallery and replaced it with the new, rebooted, and there it was.:good:

[Q] MIUI camera app on CM7 nightlies

Is it possible to have the MIUI camera app in the CM7 nightlies ? It is way better than the stock crappy android camera. Thanks in advance.
MIUI is based on cm7. So it should be. Extract the camera.apk from miui-rom.zip in /system/app and install it.
I tried it but it cannot be installed this way. Any other options ? I also tried manually pasting tha apk in the system/app, setting the permisions and rebooting, but even though it appears in the drawer, it gives FC.

Why can't you install it?
It does not work that way. Missing some framework files from the MIUI Rom.
But Honestly - where did you see that MIUI camera is better?
I'm using MIUI Rom, with Android Camera, because the video recording on the MIUI camera is piss-poor quality. Photos are almost the same. no big differrence.
Anyways, the latest working I found is v17 from 1.4.22:

Original Google Calendar apk (AOSP) - Where to get / how to install (on JB)?

Just updated to official JellyBean (Polish), although rooted and deoxed.
Now again the original Google calendar (with pinch zoom timeline) is gone.
Does anybody know where to get the AOSP Google calendar.apk and how to install it (I don't want to re-install all gapps as a bulk brute-force effort)?
Also, with 4.0.4 adding AOSP calendar.apk to SAmsung official TW rom resulted in double Calendar alerts: one from S Planner and another from AOSP calendar.apk. Is there a way to solve this?
Thanks for all the help (yes, I've tried searching, but haven't found a solution yet).
EDIT: have tried the following:
1) Attempt to install CalendarGoogle.apk (taken from original JB AOSP apk files thread) from internal sdcard (fails, even if "install from unknown sources" is enabled, result is: "Application not installed))
2. Copy calendargoogle.apk to /system/app/ and reset the permissions to proper state with Root Explorer & reboot & build Dalvik cache (app is nowhere to be accessed).

Just install Android 4.1 Jellybean Calendar by Tim Hutt from the Play Store. Works a treat.

That's actually almost ICS 4.0 calendar, not the fully functional 4.1 Jelly Bean Calendar ("I had to disable a few new features from Jellybean that don't work on ICS" as the author says).
So close, but not quite the same.
I am running JB after all, not ICS.
Anybody have an idea how to get AOSP Google Calendar (full JB version) to run on TW JB builds?

[Q] Gallery App not showing all pictures from /sdcard/DCIM/Camera

Hi,
old photos (from a backup of stock 4.1.2) are not shown in the Gallery app. Newly taken photos are visible. File manager shows all files correctly in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera. The Settings menu of the Gallery app is a completely empty window.
I tried deleting the data of the Gallery app using Titanium Backup, but it didn't change anything.
Any ideas?

Am I really the only one with this problem?
Try different gapps. This issue was talked about a few months ago. I don't remember if it was just gapps or gapps in combination with a specific ROM but it is fixed in other gapp variants.
I still use 0726 with Affinity and I am not having the population problem but the settings issue I still have. Maybe give formula84 a try.

Hi,
thank you for your answer! I tried gapps-jb-20121012-JZO54K-Formula84.zip and 0726, with no change. Is the gallery app really included in the gapps? I can't find any .apk with "gallery" in its name...
Can you maybe link to a thread where this problem was discussed?
Thanks,

I had the exact same issue, just clear cache for Galley app from application manager and it should get fixed

[SOLVED!]CM camera app

Hey, after flashing few ROM I saw that not all of them have the CM camera app (with the advanced settings, specially the Power shutter feature).
I tried adding it manually to AOSPA (removed old GoogleGallery.apk and moved Gallery2.apk to system/app),
but I didn't worked out (Gallery worked, Camera FC).
Is there a solution for this?
Update - on vanilla rootbox it worked. Maybe I did something wrong on PA..
(or it just not supported on PA?)
SOLVED!
SlimRom's Gallery2.apk is working!!!!

Thanks sarkar1990!
There is a flashable zip somewhere on xda I will post a link if I can find it again
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
And it works on every ROM?
Umm.. Anyone know what files are related to the camera app?
Maybe I'll replace them with the files from CM.
...?
No one knows?
Should I ask on another forum?
I want to have the same camera
I'm also using Vanilla Rootbox (4.0) and I still have the stock camera with stock options - has anybody an idea on how to fix this?
On rootbox I think you can just download the gallery2.apk (download CM and only unzip this app, system>app).
Then remove (or move) old gallery (GoogleGallery.apk).
Move gallery2.apk, change permissions (like other system apps) and restart.
If you can't move it, you need to mount you system partition (r/w), search Google (it's simple).
What I think problem with aospa is that it's missing libraries because it's mostly stock.

It works perfectly - thanks a lot. In case anybody out there is as new to it as I am: Use ES Explorer and use it's Root Explorer - it's as simple as this
That's exactly what I used to install CMFileManager
Solved!
------------------
Well, it didn't really solved.
When I click on the power button the device lock, not taking a picture.
I guess there is still something missing.
I'm having a real terrible go at this. I somehow removed the original google gallery apk through ES File Explorer and Installed Gallery2.apk but it crashes every time I try to open it.
I have a Sprint Galaxy Nexus running CM10.1 RC3. I know I must be missing a step or something. Help please.
As I said in another thread, I don't know how to solve it. After updating aospa slimroms camera crashes too.

[Q] Keeping the AOSP Camera from turning into Google Camera?

Hi all,
I run an AOSP Rom called LiquidSmooth.
If you do a clean flash of the rom, without flashing GAPPS, you get the standard AOSP camera.
Whenever I flash the GAPPS package for Liquidsmooth, it is replaced with the Google Camera.
Ordinarily this wouldn't bother me, but Google camera will reboot the phone if you try to use the front facing camera. I wiped everything and flashed JUST the rom, and the FFC on the AOSP camera works fine, so i would love to keep it.
When i look through the zip of the GAPPS package I don't see any camera. So what is causing one camera to delete and the other one to be added?
I want the rest of the gapps, obviously, but i want to keep the AOSP Camera.
The latest nightly can be found here if anyone wants to take a look at the ROM zip.

There you go, straight from the nightly zip.
Also, the reason the stock camera gets deleted is because the updater-script in the GAPPs package contains a line to overwrite the stock camera app.
You should be able to prevent this by modifying the updater-script with a text editor such as Notepad++, or by removing the Google Camera .apk from the GAPPs package.
Just to further clarify one more thing. The AOSP camera is in the nightly zip and Google Camera is in the GAPPs zip.
I hope this helps.
