I would like to try it on the KF but I am not sure if I need to be rooted to download and install.
Is there a Apk file I could use that you know of?

Not all Android devices are rooted, so it would be ridiculous for a company like Mozilla to only provide Firefox to rooted devices.

Google "Firefox apk"
Mozilla is not the showstopper. Do you know of a way to load Firefox on the kf? One just cannot load anything on the kf, the closed garden is the issue.

Even though Firefox is open source, it does not fall under GNU guidelines. Mozilla still owns the copyright and has requirements for which it will be implemented, very much like Google does with Android.

One can "load" anything they want to the KF. Whether or not it works when you try to install it depends on whether or not it's compatible with Gingerbread and the device's hardware. It's all a matter of installing it to see if it works.

????
First, Download this: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla....droid/multi/fennec-15.0.multi.android-arm.apk (got the link from the Mozilla website, if the mods don't like that i added a direct download link, let me know and i can add a link to the Mozilla page.)
Second, allow installation of apps from unknown services in the Settings
Third, use Quickoffice to go where you downloaded the apk. Tap on it and install it. Enjoy
Is anyone using a ROM with hashcode's new kernel 09/05 having problems with firefox fc-ing upon opening?

Anyone got a swype apk for the g2 or know where to get one?
Go to Swype's website and sign up for the beta. They'll let you download the newest version.

are you using a custom browser (ie dolphin?) sounds like you've set the user agent to something other than Android. easy fix. I had to change my dolphin HD user agent back to android (I usually use desktop because I can't stand the mobile versions of websites) to dl the swype installer, then I just changed it back.
here is the latest beta from swype read to install multi langue thats why its 11mb
just place on sd card and go to file manager and click on install should work perfect

Hi,
Is there a way to unlock google navigation outside the US?
thanks
There isn't an official way. Google for some reason doesn't let navigation work in many countries (including Greece that I live in).
With every update there is a modded apk around that enables worldwide navigation. Don't have it atm.The only drawback is that you have to find the apk with every new version in play store so that you have the latest changes.

Hello,
I would like to install an application from the playstore (which is the same apk for tablet and smartphone I think: there are is no separate/dedicated application for smartphone and for tablet) and make believe the application when running on my tablet that it is running on a smartphone and not on a tablet.
How to do this?
Thanks

typically a custom rom or if rooted in combination with build prop edits.. you can change build prop to phone info.. i do not believe there is any app that will trick it to thinking its a phone...

Do you mean that the store won't let you install the app on the tablet because it's only for phones? You could just install in on a phone and copy the apk out, they'll all be stored in \data\app I did this with my bank app. You don't need root either as you can copy out from the directory without it, just need a file explorer capable of getting to this directory.
er, close your eyes while holding your tab then tell yourself you're holding a 5" (size depends on imagination) phone?
Root and install xposed
in one of its modules download "App settings"
Then set the playstore DPI to WVGA settings or whatever you prefer

No, I'm not and that's one of the reasons why.
I have been reading up on what it would take to make sideloaded apps that require Google Play Services to work correctly. All the posts I have read point to downloading a package of files from someone's dropbox account.
Being paranoid of malware, I would like to see if I can either download it from a Google Play Store site, APKMIRROR or create an APK from the files which are already present on my current Android Smartphone.
Can someone please suggest some alternatives.
On a related note, just because an APK from an online site does not exhibit any weird behavior does not mean it is malware-free. Often malware do their job silently in the background while the device appears to function normally.

All APKs are signed. You just need to verify the signature is Google's.
@rbox - That is certainly not true.

Um... what?
To quote that page:
A signature in the apk attests to the authenticity of the file as long as the public key can be traced to the original developer.

All APKs are signed by the developer. In the case of gapps, they are all signed with Google's key. You just verify that that key mathes something you trust, that you know is signed by google.
Fair point. But what I was trying to indicate is Google Account Manager is not an official APK package made available by Google. So how would I verify that?

No clue what google account manager is. Download it from the play store, then check the signature. Then you can download it from anywhere you want on the web and verify the signature.
