So I am a bit of a flashaholic and have used all the ROMs here on XDA and a few from elsewhere on my ToroPlus. My issue is while on the Sprint 3g network, no matter what ROM or kernel combo I have tested, I cannot get Pandora to work properly!
On WiFi it works just fine... but on 3g it will load album artwork, advertising pop ups. But will not play a song! Loads, holds, then skips on to the next track and repeats.
I live in southern Utah and the 3g speeds vary depending on time of day. I tested on off peak times where I've been getting over 1mb per second according to speedtest.net app and still no songs play. I can stream using Google Music with my 15,000 song library and even AudioGalaxy app.... both work just fine.
Pandora will not work correctly. I have tested .apk's from the market, "modified" versions from around the web, even backed up older versions of the app... all to the same result. Load, buffer, skip to the next. This has all been happening for the past few weeks as it worked fine before. I haven't changed my radio since upgrading to FG01 in July and all other apps that access data on my phone work and stream just fine.
Does anybody else have this issue? Anybody know a workaround? Maybe a buffer size adjustment at the kernel or build.prop level? Any help is greatly appreciated... I am no noob to Android or the Gnex, or with Sprint for that matter. I just need some help, cuz my 3g service ain't great in my area but it was enough to use Pandora until recently.
P.S. please don't reply with "mine is working fine" cuz that won't help, I've got a roommate and his Sprint phone and Pandora are just fine.

Works fine on CM10 and Faux123 kernel latest beta.
tried on three different roms and two kernels per rom. Now on stock ota JRO03U pandora 1.7 and it still only works on wifi. Also this has nothing to do with rooting because it also doesnt work on my wifes super stock e4gt. I think maybe it might have to do with sprint service.

I just downloaded an older version of pandora from 4shared and it worked. I think 1.7 is just not jellybean friendly at the moment. I am also unrooted.

I mistakenly stated rooted works. This is my history with Pandora.
1. All jb Roms stock or not stock, 1.6 and 1.7 did not stream over 3G.
2. Odined FD02 full tar unrooted, and Pandora 3 g streaming works.
3. Odined FH05 full tar unrooted, and Pandora 3g streaming does not work again.

Been streaming all day on CM10 on 3G. So whatever that causes the issue is in stock and fixed in CM

I got my gnex right after FG radio dropped and ran that ever since. I do recall my modified version of Pandora 1.5.8 worked fine there. Then all of a sudden... no more
I've recently jumped up to FH and my data speeds are overall much better. However, issue still remains with Pandora. I have been unlocked and rooted since June and the app diddddd work. I don't believe it is associated with root because the app never requests root privileges right?
Could be radio perhaps but comments here don't suggest that is the culprit.

Edit...
My post to them on the facebook page..
Is there a dislike button.. I mean .. Android announced and launched 2.2 a few months (back in May) and I heart radio still does not work correctly on it. All the money that your IT team has behind it.. and you cannot even get this to work for us 2.2 users after 6 months.. really really annoying.. I am thinking about going to the darkside and downloading Pandora to use on my Tmobile G2. ..
The reply....
We are working on an upgrade as we do realize that many Android users do have OS 2.2 and higher. At this time, however, we're only compatible for Android OS 2.0 and 2.1. We're very sorry for the inconvenience and will keep you informed about any updates!
I just don't understand why it says "iHeartradio 2.3 Verizon only"
I have a Samsung Captivate i897 phone and I installed both the 2.2.2 and the 2.3 VZW versions and both work just fine on my phone......
The 1.5 version does NOT work on my phone..........
the verizon version works with android 2.1 and up and iheart 1.5 is for the lower versions of android. verizon was first one to get he app working with the newer versions of android so that is why it has verizon behind it in the market
I have an app that I bought from the market for a buck called btmono. If your not familliar with it, what it does is convert my stero output from my phone and streams it to my mono bt headset. I use it for podcast and such since its not the greatest quality for listening to music. My delima is that it was runnning fine on the stock release froyo and I am currently running phoenix II with no problems. Before I got into custom roms I updated to gingerbread via sprint update and the streaming no longer worked. After probing the net that is how I stumbled onto this site.....thanks guys!!! Anyways, since most of the developers here are way more int the programming side than I am I was justv looking for input. I really want to update to a gingerbread build rom....but thus far they all do the same thing to my bt headset....and for me this is a deal breaker....what sux is that my wife's evo 4g is gb 2.3.3 and it works fine, and 2 days ago I tried it on my brothers stock galaxy 2 touch running gb 2.3.6 and it also worked fine. Humph. So, as a blanket statment....any input would be greatly appriceated!
Thanks in advanced.
Steve
I used to use an older version of that app on froyo. I was never able to get it to work on my epic after moving to leaked builds of gb. It used to be listed in the description in the market as froyo only. I have not tried it in several months and will give it a go again later today when I get home.

Ah You are correct...read it too fast. LOL. I see he had Randomking's Pheonix II.
Thanks guys....what puzzles me is that I actually talked to the developer and he says its even running on ics on certain phones. Its also working on my wifes htc evo and my brothers galaxy II touch and they are running gb 2.3.3 and 2.3.6 respectivly. No matter what build of gb I use its always a clean install and I am forced to repair my device. Does the modem that I am using have anything to do with the bt connection?
I am wanting to upgrade to thunderhawk. This is obviously a legal hack....it would be nice if the developers would figure out how it works and include it with their builds like the wifi hack. It actually is quite useful....all system sounds go through the mono bt headset even stereo musuc and podcasts. All without getting a headset that dosent have the adp2 protocol. Honestly I'm supprised google hasent explored this feature more and offered it. From what I hear it was included on older windows phones ans palms, so the idea has been around for awhile.
I have the same problem with mine and my brothers epic... it worked with froyo but not quite right with gingerbread... one day it will work fine, the next day it will work and then cut out, the next day not at all... think the app needs to be updated to fully support epic. It does work sometimes though
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Just spent some time trying to get this to work on thunderhawk 3.3 and still have the same results as on every other gb rom I have tried it with. It will connect, but audio just clips in quickly here and there. This is one thing I really miss from froyo as I used it quite a bit. Not worth going back just for that though. Hopefully this will get some support soon.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
has anyone contacted the dev on the app to ask if it is GB supported? and if it is ask him why it isn't working on the epic. i think this would be a good starting point.
So here is the response I got from thbe developer via email back on nov 22, right after the sprint rollout of gb. As I said before...my wife and my brother both have gb. They just happen to not be epic.
"It is more related to the firmware / drivers / kernel modules than the Android version. The program does work on 2.2, 2.3, and even 3.0+ (haven't tested yet on Ice Cream Sandwich). It works on every HTC device that I'm aware of including my EVO 4G and it works on my Asus Transformer. Unfortunately certain manufacturers seem to alter something in their firmware that prevents it from working. Almost no Motorola devices work, some Samsung devices have certain limitations, etc. Sorry, I can't guarantee that it will work at all. It's not something that Google supports so it's basically just a hack that works in certain circumstances.
Let me know if I can help with anything else. Thanks, Brian Sent from my ASUS Eee Pad."
So let's see if we can get these guys on here....to at least look into it. As I said, it is a very useful feature.
Jeffro, I have the same issues. It connects but the audio drops and it doesn't stream like it is supposed to.

Okay so here is my story.
I have had this phone since it was first released. I have rooted my phone successfully and I have been using custom rom's since gingerbread.
Whenever I install ICS roms, the 4G will always fall to <100kbps on the speed test app. When I go back to gingerbread the 4G speeds are normal.
I've tried about 20 different ICS modems and kernels on various ICS roms and I get the same results.
Just today I went to the Sprint store and got my phone replaced thinking maybe I just had a bad phone. I just installed another ICS ROM and I'm getting the same Bull**** 4G speeds... WTF (I'm tight)
Any advice, tips, ideas, or am I just a duncebat?

I get that same problem. And it gets stranger still. I pay for 30Mbps internet at home. If I speed test on my computer, I get 30, or damn close to it. But when I speed test on my phone, I get a whopping 10. Since wimax is wifi, I am guessing that its a problem in the modem related to wifi. Anyone else experiencing this?

OK, this is starting to drive me nuts. Why is it that Pandora (the latest 1.7) and specifically on all the CM10 builds, does it not work on some GSIII's?
About half of the GSIII users on the CM10 thread, as well as AOKP and Jellybro are reporting that it's not working. While some people are reporting that 1.7 is working fine for them. And the other half are having to search online for the APK and revert to the previous Pandora 1.6 version to make it work. But that shouldn't be!
Aside from carriers, don't we all have the same exact phone? Someone mentioned there could be subtle differences in production build when the SGIII was being manufactured. But I refuse to believe that.
Could it be differences in certain Sprint network areas that causes Pandora to not play nicely with some GSIIIs? Or can it really be that some GSIII devices were built without some software included?
Frustrated.
More than likely a problem with sprint.

I recently got a Sprint Galaxy Nexus. Worked fine before and after rootwenting. When I apply a custom ROM my 3G connection becomes useless to the point I can't even conduct a speed test. Anything and everything will load part way and then stop. LTE works with no issues whatsoever and while I am in an area with decent coverage battery life won't allow me to stay on 4G all the time.
Is there something I can flash to fix the lack of real connectivity? I went back to my rooted stock nandroid and all is fine. Its only on a custom ROM.
I have tried Paranoid Android and AOKP.

Or try going back to your stock rom (with the stock radio), If you haven't made a backup of it, you can download it from the google site: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/mysidspr-ga02-factory.tgz
Thanks for the video. I went back to stock again right after posting this and was having the same problems.
