I got rooted using Odin and LostKernel. Trying to get the best SETCPU setup and profiles. Can anybody Share there setting and profiles. How much battery life are you getting? I just got this phone Tuesday. Help!!!
Another Thing is anybody having Bad Wifi reception? my phone can be right next to the router and still wont get all wifi bars. i go to my kitchen or room and forget about it and barely connects to my wifi.
Ok 80 views and no responses so I'll bite. There are so many variables here that I could type a page or two but I will start at the end. You may need to try out a few different kernels to see which works best for you. People are having the best stability/battery life and least issues on the stock based kernels. If you use one of the overclock kernels, you may end up having LOS issues. You really have to try them. Wifi no good, try another. I am grabbing Wifi signal from the tenant who lives in the apartment below me (I am the manager so its ok..lol) I don't have any profiles set up. I let the phone do its thing. I am using the EG30 Rev 5 kernel since I am on EG31 modem. Since you are currently on LoSt, try EG30 stock w/CWM5 or Rogue stock w/ recovery. If you want to overclock try the Rogue overclockable kernel

I have always been of the position that Samsung has probably already put a lot of thought into the clock speed, and you probably should juat leave it be. Setcpu came into being a few years ago when phones handled the comprimise between battery life and clock speed poorly, it really is not need is anymore.

Yeah, if you want to overclock or undervolt then its useful but for profiles I just leave those be. I mean if I am not using my phone its in deep sleep or running at 200. The scaling seems really dialed in to me

This is the first phone I have not used SetCPU on. The Samsung kernel seems to do every thing on its own. I would recommend not using it at all.
So I've been using aokp for months now and franco's kernel even longer. both amazing pieces of work. franco's kernel has been 99 percent stable for me, with an occasional sod with a few builds here and there (nothing a full wipe can't fix). However after my last sod, I kept getting forced reboots upon startup so I just flashed the newest version of aokp and it's been working fine as expected.
my question is, can you guys tell me exactly all the advantages of using franco's kernel with this rom as opposed to the stock? even after using it all this time (since early December) I guess I haven't noticed any significant differences. maybe I haven't paid enough attention because so far this stock kernel in aokp seems to be handling everything just fine. thanks in advance

Ok..., let's give it a try:
Franco's latest (nightly) kernel has (in contrary to stock AOKP kernel):
Sound Control (in latest builds from Ezeechiel (is that the correct way you write his name?))
GPU overclock
HotPlug for disabeling 1 CPU whith screen lock
USB Fast Charge enabeled
Wifi Power Management for better WiFi reception on screen lock
Color control.
I'm sure I forgot some settings.
Right now I get about 1% of battery usage in 2 hours when idle with data on (not Wifi), maybe 10 - 20 % with screen on (depending reception, what I do etc.) and I never have reached such figures with stock. I would for sure recommend Franco's kernel but a lot depends on your preferences. For me long lasting battery is important so I go easy on the clock speeds of the CPU.
thanks. that's the kind of information I was looking for. I don't feel the need to overclock but if there really is a good improvement in battery life, that's reason enough

(UPDATE- I searched and found this is a known issue: code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28133)
I9250 on ST
Radio XXLA2
North central US
I travel to a lot of very rural areas for work. Often while in these areas I will unlock my phone and see no service. A minute later I may have up to 2-3 bars showing and I'll receive vm and sms notifications. I've tried different kernels and ROMs with no change.

I had this problem when using Juice Defender. Any chance you are using it?
No juice defender or even any similar app running.

i started noticing the same issue recently...no service when i press the power button (on the lockscreen)...shortly after i unlock my phone, service/data restores...not sure if its kernel related as i believe (not 100% sure) that it happened around the same time i switched from glados to popcorn
i am also on XXLA2....in NYC
You all need new radios lol.. Try the radios thread in general section and flash as many as you need until you find whats works for you..
Id start testing uglc1 wich are the lastests basebands..

ive tried different radios before...UGLC1 included...went back to XXLA2 which gives me the best signal
this issue has only recently started happening...like i said, maybe related to the kernel because it started happening around the same time...not sure

Its not the radios, I have seen some posts in kernel threads about minimum CPU clock speed.
If you are using 192mhz bump it to 384mhz and see if that helps if not then try 729mhz. I've seen people sort it by doing this.
Those are Franco clock speeds but you get the idea.

ive read that the min cpu speed and even low VOLTAGES can affect signal stability as well....but i didnt change any of that.. currently its at 384 mhz and the default voltages on the popcorn kernel...the problem just started out of nowhere..its been fine for the past 2 weeks or so...just started happening like 2 days ago
no signal on wake

I too experience the same issue. I am currently running aokp_maguro_build-36and have tried various basebands and now currently back at I9250UGKL1 .
I have been installing AOKP builds with the same behavior in that it goes to sleep the radio stays sleeping unless I reboot. I have the min CPU set to 700 mhz.
I have been reading the forums for weeks but cannot find anything where someone has fixed this. I love everything about the Galaxy Nexus with exception of this.
I've tried several ROMs and kernels. They make NO DIFFERENCE at all, including using stock.

Id say try a Stable rom(not nightly) like AOKP Milestone 5 or stock.. And see if the problem persist.
After flashing new roms do a wipe of everything.. Dalvik/sd/cache/system

Since its not the radios, the kernels, or the ROMs, then what else (other than a hardware defect) could be creating this problem?
Anyone?

Me too experiencing the same issue. Currently I'm on AOKP B37, and the bug is still there. The funny thing, is that despite no signal icon on wake, the phone is still on air and accepts calls. I've installed the No Signal Alert app, which hasn't registered any signal loss so far, but I know it works fine (I used it before on my old Galaxy I5800, which was loosing service). Very strange...
That is odd. I've missed calls in areas I should have gotten them. I'm hoping they hurry up and release a fix.

Signal Loss
I've been having the same issues for about a week or two now. Actually sent a phone back in and had it exchanged out because of this. Yes, I tried all radios and tons of different roms. Same result for all. And I mean I tried ALL THE RADIOS, so quit suggesting that.
And I also swapped out a phone, redid my things, and now getting back to same issues again.
However, my observations.....
I never had issues from Dec thru about a month ago. Then had a Rez for two weeks, then back to GNexus. First thing I did was load most current CM9. Played well for the whole day I had it at that. Then I realized I had forgot to update radios. Before (month ago) it was still at leaked 4.0.4 radios, however when I looked em up, the official 4.0.4 radios were posted. So I dabbled with them instead. But I also saw the bootloader update and blah blah, so I did the whole shabang for official 4.0.4, then rerooted and cm9'd. This was where problems began....at this point is when I started having exact same problems as OP. So I went back to old radios. Same problems. Then different radios. Same problems. Then different roms. Same problems. Then rolled all the way back to completely stock 4.0.2 image file. Bootloader, radios, recovery, everything. SAME PROBLEMS STILL.
Thats when I swapped out the phone.
New phone comes. I redo everything again, but just use official 4.0.4 radios rather than the bootloaders and blah blah but still with CM9. All is good. Then I wanna play with the full official 4.0.4 OTA update. So I do all of it. All if fine but I realize hey, battery life sucks again now. Back to CM9. Then I reroot and rom. And holy ****, all the problems are back again now with signals. New roms, same problems. Literally everything I had problems with before is all back again.
So I'm wondering if this obviously has something with OFFICIAL 4.0.4 image/bootloader/recovery or whatever the hell is being written when I'm doing that flashing.
Thoughts?
Your case might have some other cause. Did you try swapping your sim card?
Meanwhile, I was able to find a workaround. Just raised the min CPU freq. from 350 to 525. Since then there was not a single signal loss so far. Battery drain increase in idle mode ain't registered as well. I'm on AOKP b37 currently.
Here are the steps to take at least on AOKP (other roms may have similiar settings available):
Go to ROM control in the settings menu.
Open the Performance
Set the Min CPU to 525
Ensure, that Scaling govenor is set to Interactive
Enable the Set on boot option
Hope, it works for you too. Good luck!

Alright folks, I seek help.
Ever since the ICS source code was released for E4GT, every ROM that I have used have been plagued by the same issues.
Random reboots
Terrible battery life
4G problems
I am finally seeking advice on what the best ICS Rom is currently (not Touchwiz).
So tell me:
Exact current build of ROM you are using
Kernel
Modem
Settings that help with battery life
These ROMS are amazing, it's just that I get terrible battery life, and I constantly have that phantom menu button popup because of low signal.
Is everyone who are using ICS roms, are you having the same problems?
If so, then I am not complaining about anything, I just want a really good stable build right now.
I am using AOKP Milestone 6 currently, as I had the least problems with it.

i am using aokp too. i easily get 18-24+ battery life. heres all i do:
- i always leave wifi on at home.
- as soon as i leave home i turn off wifi
- i turn off accounts & sync
- i turn off backlight keys (settings ->device options ->sensors)
- i'm using smartassV2 govener
- i undervolted each -50
- i use power saver and set 'data action delay' to 30 seconds
- i disable widget updating w/ rom toolbox (tools ->auto start manager ->application)
- if i notice apps i dont normally use always running i disable or frezze them (for example maps)
I run CM9. I have no problems whatsoever.

I've read that doing that actually damages the battery in the long run as that part of the method is for older type of batteries.

The best way to keep your battery healthy is to unplug at 99% and charge before it drops below 10%. That will keep the cells healthy, actually charging to 100% and draining to 0% will shorten the life significantly. I used to do that drain and charge on my og evo and went thru 3 batteries in 18 months
We are legion, for we are many.

I'm running the Blu Kuban
Agats 4.0 kernel
SmartassV2 govern.. SIO io scheduler.. Under voted - 50.. No under clocking.. I get about 3-4 hours screen on time.. My phone hits 87% deep sleep (I never use Wifi.. Only 3g and 4g to I'd imagine my battery be better if I was on Wifi, but I don't have Wifi everywhere I go)
As far as charging.. I charge whenever.. If I'm somewhere and have my charher, I'll charge it.. Better to have several partial charges VS a lot of deep ones

Just wanted to post some feedback. Im pretty new to joining this community and I want to say Thanks to all the developers for giving me and all of us so many options to choose from.
Just wanted to post a quick note. I recently have been playing around with different mods and currently as of 2 days ago I am using the following on my Canadian Galaxy S3 i747;
Wanamlite with faux kernal located here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785466"
I did the following,
Installed the Rom
Added removed samsung and att apps patch
(I did all this with wiping)
Following that I installed the kernal (above) booted and rebooted a second time.
Charged the battery full and Calibrated
I installed the kernal and calibrated the battery yesterday at 6PM from 6PM full charge until today at 11:00am I still have 47 percent battery life and I have been using it like I normally do. I have also ran 2 benchmark tests on the current charge. I have doctor web full version on constant monitor alarm and wifi going.
The Rom with this kernal is very snappy and very buttery and offers all the stock features. The battery is unreal. Iv never had a phone last this long and I have used everything on the market I work for a Bell Dealer so its like christmas for me everytime a new phone comes out.
Thanks again! Highley recommend this combo for anyone who wants the stock look and feel with more battery and more power!
+1 been using that same combo for a while and found it hard to beat. Although just trying out ktoonsez kernel and its equally impressive.

You know that there is no need for calibration for the batteries in our phone...we have a chip that does it. Its a wasted step. Also, the batteries that are in our phones also don't have memory either. Just don't deplete them and you're good to go.
I do agree that both kernels are awesome...I'm running Ariel w/kt747 UV and oc.
