Hello,
Ive been wondering why my power button its so hard to press, its hard to explain but its almost an even surface when you pass your finger through the side of the phone, I mean its just more deep inserted in the case that the volume rocker for example. I dont know if its normal since I traded my phone for the galaxy nexus so I didnt get it new.

I just wanted to know if the volume rocker and the power button have the same "touch" feeling when you press them? If so, how can I fix it, maybe disassembling to fix that?
Cheers
Is that no one has experienced this or no one wants to help ?
I don't have your experience. My power button indeed feels roughly the same as volume up & down buttons.
i have exactly the same problem, my power button used to be nice before until i cleaned it with a soft brush
Has the phone ever been taken apart? My power button is normal but it could be that internally a clip broke or something. Its pretty easy to take it apart, not sure if you're comfortable in taking it apart

What do you guys use to take screenshots? I used to use Shootme but the developer has taken it off the market. Any suggestions?
Hold volume down and power. Its built into ICS.
How about holding on to the Volume down + Power button at the same time?
Press the Volume down and power buttons at the same time. Boom, screenshot!

Volume down and power **** take to long, if you have tasker and Secure Setting...here you go (/system/bin/screencap -p /sdcard/$(date +%m.%d.%Y-%H:%M).png)

Yeah, I've always found it ridiculously taxing to press two easy to access buttons to take a screenshot.

Don't forget that we already have the long dedicated thread for this:
How to make a screenshot without using any 3rd party apps.
There is especially very useful the latest post from irishpancake, because some people have problem with pressing two buttons simultaneously:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24139369&postcount=28
The best procedure how to make the snapshot is:
Put your thumb fingers on both buttons and first press Home button and leave it pressed and after a fraction of second press Power button with your other thumb finger. Then release both buttons. With a fraction second I mean max 0.1 second.
Don't press buttons in the reverse order (first Power button and then Home button), because although you make the snapshot you invoke Power menu too.
wow
Thanks! ^^
My brother has this widget/icon on his rooted S III and I'm trying to identify it so that I can eliminate it. It will move from screen to screen, and when you touch it it powers the phone off. Anyone have any idea what it is or how to get it off the screen?

This may sound stupid but have you tried long pressing on it and then dragging it into the garbage bin?

I haven't physically seen it or been able to play with it myself, but he said that whenever he touched it that it would power off the machine. And, to be frank, it is one of those cases where the phone has become smarter than the owner, so trying to diagnose this remotely has been a challenge. LOL But I think my nephew figured it out as some kind of power app that he'd installed.
Hi .
The volume dead button in the HTC Desire is a recurrent problem wich lots of people complaint.
I bought my Desire in second hand for a sweet priçe because the buttons weren`t working and this is a big no no wen you have to perform any action wich requires entering in the recovering menu.
Now,....there is a simple fix to this seemingly life treadenig menaçe to your phone...
Prepared ?!
Grab a seringe with a needle and fill it with a bit o alcool and insert one of two drops of alcool under the button and click on the volume buttons for a minute or two and then let it dry on the sun or other heat source and DONE !!! It is has simple has that.
I think this action can be aplied to any stuck buttons on phones but then each case has is own problems and fixes. One side note,-dont soak the phone in alcool...one drop aplied with a needle will do but if dont repeat the process, just dont soak the phone in alcool,-there is no need and could ruin your phone.
Hope this help someone
Cheers
Carlos
Here is a pic on how the alcool should be aplied

Hey guys, so I was just using my Note 10.1 2014 Edition (P601) today and I wanted to reboot into recovery so I pressed the power button and selected reboot into recovery. The device shut down and then I expected it to start up and go into my TWRP recovery but it did nothing. So I tried holding down the power button to start it but nothing happened, same with holding down the home+volume up+power. The tablet just does not respond and seems dead, screen or capacitive keys dont light up, nor do i hear any sounds, so thats not the problem. Ive tried charging the device even though the battery was about 70% when it died but it made no difference. Could someone help me out here, It was just working fine a few minutes ago. I dont know whats the problem :/
This may cause by cracked battery connector, some pins are open. You won't be able to boot, trying pressing on the back, near the center, location of battery connector while pressing the power button.
This is the black battery connector which may cause this problem. Re solder only takes under 5 minutes to get it done, just need to disconnect the battery cable.
