Problem Installing CWM - (Drivers and ADB) - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I woke up this morning with the intention of rooting my Galaxy S3 and installing CWM. I was following the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426. I wrestled with just getting my computer to recognize my S3, and after 8 hours, a BSOD, and wiping everything off my phone, I finally had the drivers connected and managed to root it.
I'm at the part where I need to access the adb through the Command Prompt. I installed the Android SDK on my computer and all packages related to ICS and JellyBean. I open the command prompt and try to access the adb, but it keeps saying "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file."
Can somebody please help me figure out what the heck is going wrong? I am using 64 bit Windows 7 and the most recent SDK.

The easiest way would be use Odin. Same way you rooted it. There's a flashable Odin cwm file in development. It will trip your counter but it's easily reset.

In the command prompt you need to navigate to the folder where adb.exe is located. It's clearly not in c:\users\name-edited\

I'm not sure how to navigate folders in command prompt. I haven't used this since I had DOS as a kid.

Its basically typing out the path you take through the folders to get to adb. For example:
C:/Program files(x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
This is just an example, and it may not be the complete and actual path on your computer. You can also go to the platform-tools folder, press control + shift, then right click within the folder, choose open command prompt

Ah, that's what the problem was. The adb file is now in the platform-tools folder. Did not know that. I have successfully rooted my phone and installed CWM. Thanks to all! On to flashing!

how to access System/

So upon plugging in my phone (newest iteration of clean rom) windows takes me into and lets me access the sdcard/ extension. I am trying to install an app by copy/pasting into the system/app directory but am unable to navigate to it via my computer. I'm unable to access it via root explorer because it says the folder is read only. anyone able to shed some insight into this situation?

In root explorer when you nav to /system, at the top you'll see a button that changes it from read only to read/write(see pic). If you wanna access /system from your computer you have to do it with adb.

Airdroid will also allow you to access the system folder from pc. Good luck
In cleanrom you can choose your file manager, each one has a different way of allowing your pc to write to storage, mount, umount, etc. Go through the settings and you will find what you are looking for.

(TIPS) Rooting!

Hey guys, I just wanted to post something that might help out some people, in case perhaps their USB Drivers don't work, or they can't get odin to recognize their device.
Note: I do not claim these to be definite answers. These are just things I have discovered to work.
1.) My computer won't recognize my phone! What do I do?
A.) Try this. Download the USB drivers from (possibly) another post here on XDA, or install the Samsung Kies application.
Then, get an application to extract the driver software, such as uniextract.
Extract the installer to a directory of your choice: (For simplicity, I say Desktop)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, go into Control Panel>Device Manager
Go to your device; It might be listed as "Unknown" and right click it.
Go to "Update Driver Software" and then click "Browse my computer"
Locate the Directory you extracted the installer to, and then click "Next"
wait for it to finish, then you're done!
Note! If it does this again, your device may show up as a modem. If so, just recreate the steps, and it will work.
2.) Odin doesn't show my device!
A.) If you just got done doing the steps above, you need to restart your computer. If not, check to make sure your phone is in Download mode. If still it does not recognize it, make sure you have "USB debugging" enabled in developer settings.
ATM, these were the only things I kept getting stuck at; if you have any more info on how we could help out some of the noobs (like me),
please reply!
Thanks!
NOTE! I forgot to mention, taht if you had previously installed drivers, YOU HAVE TO UNINSTALL THOSE! Otherwise, it will not work.

[Q] How to work with windows adb to root phone?

Hello!
Well, I've followed your tutorials and installed android SDK which came in a .zip and I just extracted it to my C:\ directory.
But the phone just doesn't connect! See the image below please.

I have usb debbuging enabled in my nexus and I am freaking out with this eheh. Little help please xd
Did you boot into the bootloader?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Assuming you've already unlocked the bootloader.
Turn off your cell phone, press Vol+ & Vol- while holding both keys press and hold PowerButton you'll boot into bootloader, now connect your devices to PC and run the command "fastboot devices" if you have all drivers correctly installed you should see something like:
List of Devices
"Devices: xxxxxxxxxx"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
if you don't see any devices that means either drivers are not installed or you're not booted into the bootloader, but if you see your devices connected use the "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" once the installation is finished boot into recovery and flash the SuperSU(root).zip
Peace,
L4.1

Try using "fastboot devices" to see if it lists your phone. Fastboot only works when you're in bootloader mode. "adb devices" will list your phone when bored into the os.

[Q] Windows 7 doesn't recognize phone

I have a stock AT&T HTC One X, trying to root my phone.
I've downloaded everything I need, but I can't connect my phone via USB. I've downloaded various drivers from here and HTC Sync Manager, but that doesn't help.
All I'm getting is this whenever I connect via USB

Also, every time I install a driver, a command prompt window shows up with the words "Access Denied", spazzes out, and disappears. The installation never said it was finish, so I'm guessing it never worked.
Without it, I can't get to the command prompt of the ADB and Fastboot.
On my Windows 8 laptop, I'm capable of connecting with the right drivers, but Windows 8 isn't compatible with fastboot.

It's the Android app. Is it because there's no sim card in?
I'd love some help
Android version 6.0, not rooted.
Bump I asked here because no one can answer me.

try flashing thr RUU does not require root ot TWRP just require a pc and a usb connector get adb on your computer and type in adb fastboot reboot, wait for hone to reboot into bootloader and type fastboot gatvar all and post the result here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2FyBGshXWIxeHdPRy1zWXdwM1E/view?usp=sharing use this link to download adb.zip. extract the zip file and go into the bundle folder, sdk, platform, platform-tool and press shift and right click at the same time and select open command prompt here and you got yourself adb and fastboot. (only works for Windows)
