Hello my fellow XDA brothers. I recently purchased a Galaxy S3 and I love the phone! But I am having one issue right now. I cant get the Yahoo News Ticker to work correctly. I am on a custom rom ( WICKED_IR[v1] ) that is based off of stock if That helps any, but this is what basically is happening. I go to settings>security> Lock screen options, I turn on the tab to enable the ticker. I then click the information ticker panel to bring up it's settings, I click on settings (it has set news ticker settings under it) and it doesn't do anything it lets me click, it but nothing happens. I even tried locking to screen to see if I was doing something wrong. I unlock it and it has the yahoo new drop down arrow that I pull up and I get the following screens below. after I click select my country it opens up a list of apps to choose from, but none of them allow the news ticker to work. I'm sort of a news buff, so I would like to have my ticker running!
Okay, after digging a little deeper I found the solution to the problem, turns out the dev removed the feature from the rom. I have it in a flashable zip file if anyone else is having this issue with their rom,
Yea man I would definitely like it for sure ....not working on wildchlds ROM either. Same message as u
Here you go. Just flash in recovery and your good to go!

Just wondering if there is the ability to install the drop down icons that other phones like like LG and CyanogenMod have? IE the ones to turn off wifi/gps/data etc. They are above the drop down menu.
It's a major thing missing from my neo.
Cheers
Wrong section to be asking...
should ask in general
goto market and download "notification toggle" its the closest thing you will get at the moment
Thanks but cannot find it in the market. You thing with the amount of customisations Sony would realise this was important!
not sure why you could not find it
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle
Ok thanks so I gather that is all ? Wow poor effort Sony starting to really regret this purchase
Thanks!

Widgetsoid is similar but getting the widget in your statusbar is a bit of a pain (there's a youtube instruction), but i think it's the closest you can get.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetsoid2-x/com.jim2
I'm using it, and at the moment it has a bug where the widget in the statusbar is clickable, but then shows up in your homescreen. afaik this bug is related to android 2.3.3 and is been worked on.
How to create Widgetsoid widget on notification pull down?
Create a Widgetsoid widget, go to "Advanced" and check "Notification". If you don't want to see widget on home screen check "Widget invisible"

Quoted from here.
Thanks but not having much luck.
Is there a way to port the APK some how from CyanogenMod to my Sony Neo?
Wondering if anyone has a solution to unlocking the screen the way we do with normal SMS and MMS but for Google Voice notifications instead. It would be nice if it didn't require a separate app, more of a tweak or hack is what i'm looking for.
I attached the bubble i'm looking for. An ICS solution would be best

If you're referring to "Davis", that would be the City in which the weather is displaying. The option to display the weather on the lockscreen is in Settings-Display-Weather (Check mark it).
Oh okay so no way to put names on the screen
From the 2nd galaxy
I'm gonna go ahead and ask, what ROM is this?
And also, I've tried this before on other ROM's, to find solutions to sliders for certain apps (like GVoice) and sadly, all the times I've went researching, the only way to get them was through Widget Locker, or some other locking utility. But anyways, good luck mate.

yup, i had a gut feeling that was the only way. I hope that google eventually codes an api for the stock unlocker so that other apps can start using it. I'm running calkulin 1.6
So I enabled the option to show current locations weather conditions from the lock screen, however on the lock screen all it says is:
"Unable to display weather data"
Does anyone else have this problem or know of a workaround? Does anyone have the weather conditions working for their lock screen?
Same here. Note 2 and my sg3. Even on official rom. Help us

Hmm mine just did it and I thought it was something with my custom Rom. A couple hours later though and all is fine. . Perhaps it just needs to refresh

Been like this ever since I got the phone on Friday. =\ It was like that on the stock ROM and still exists on CleanROM 2.1. I've tried rebooting and everything.... Oh well, I'll just let it sit for a while and see what happens... Hopefully someone can get to the bottom of this soon
same problem here on sg3
I had the same issue on my s2x and what solved it for me was to load the accuweather.com widget onto the homescreen, and update the weather. That got the weather to show up.
I then deleted the widget and the lock screen still shows the weather.
Mine shows up but hadn't updated in days

Navigate to Settings>Application Manager and clear data for the Weather Daemon and Weather Widget/Weather Widget Main, Force Stop them and then re-add your locations and check again.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for editing the power toggles in the notification bar? I've noticed that the galaxy S4 from T-mobile has the data toggle removed and i would like to add it back so that i completely eliminate the need to install 3rd party apps just for that toggle. If anybody knows what files i need to edit or a link to a good guide for this phone, i would greatly appreciate it, have a good day and thanks in advance for anybody helping.
PS - If i manage to get this done, i might even make a flashable zip with that addition included.
I would love to see that

I believe you are going to want to look in /system/appsystemui.apk

I think some of the custom TW ROMs have the data toggle added back in if I'm not mistaken. So you might just be able to pull the elements form another ROM and insert them into the stock one. (Or just flash one of the custom ROMs)
Cyaogen definitely has it included so if you can,t find it pure made for the stock TW ROM you can at least get the elements you'd need from CM.
Good luck!
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.
Any mea rom has it

Thank you guys for all of your suggestions. After a while, this was posted on the development section... apparently many people were asking for the same thing. Now i just need to dissect some roms and find the keywords used to add the other toggles...

The other toggle you can include is the " Brightness; "
The Brightness toggle is excellent, it's not how it used to be where it was off/on/auto etc.
This one displays a slider with auto option in it.............
Really nice!
---
I Am trying to get rid of the original brightness slider bar beneath the toggles...........
If anyone knows a way to remove it I would appreciate it a lot.

What's really funny is that crApple is getting credit for the Heads Up notification style that's been in Android for over a year.
Sent from my VS985 4G
Wait for Android L for notifications on the lockscreen. Have tried the Android L dev preview on my Nexus 7 and it is a great feature to have.
For actionable notifications however, there is a headsup notification feature like the poster above me said. You can use an app called HeadsUp to achieve that affect. Another app called Floatifications displays the notifications in a bubble style thing like Facebook Messenger chat heads. You can give it a try if that is your sort of thing.
If you really want notifications on your lockscreen though, try adding a widget to your lockscreen which displays the current notification. Or try DashClock for a similar sort of effect.
nils will do the screen on and swipe to open actions

I use AcDisplay. It's customizable and looks damn sexay!!
Probably not what you're looking for but I'd definitely give this a try. I really love it. Plus it changes if you're commuting or between day and night, etc.

The Notifications in Android are usually actionable. The lock-screen ones are something to look forward in Android L. For any other notifications you can try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.headsup. These are technically baked into Android L but are available now in form of this third party application.
Try LockerPro

I see my girls phone does this but it's retarded cause you still need to unlock the phon3 an open the app lol
Im actually using AcDisplay https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay&hl=pl check it! :good: only u must installed xposed app
